Class of 2026 four-star quarterback and Omaha native Jett Thomalla flipped his commitment from Iowa State to Alabama on Tuesday. This was according to On3's Hayes Fawcett.
The Nebraska native is ranked as the No. 13 overall quarterback in the 2026 class and the top player in the state of Nebraska, according to the On3 industry rankings.
The quarterback had several offers on the table. This included schools such as Alabama, Iowa State, Arizona, Iowa, Missouri, Virginia Tech, and Washington State. The Huskers never offered Thomalia.
The quarterback threw for 3,664 yards, 47 touchdowns, and three interceptions last season for Millard South, according to statistics from MaxPreps.com. He led the Patriots to a 13-1 record and a Class A Nebraska state championship.
The state of Nebraska has seen a rise in local talent over the past couple of recruiting cycles. Thomalla is certainly the latest example of that, and part of a positive trend for Nebraska high school football overall. With Dylan Raiola on the roster, future quarterbacks Dayton Raiola and Trae Taylor, it's not that surprising that the Huskers never offered a scholarship.

Auburn Lands Former 5-Star Recruit Out of Transfer Portal

Auburn Lands Former 5-Star Recruit Out of Transfer Portal originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It's just year three for head coach Hugh Freeze, but the consensus among the Auburn Tigers faithful is that time is running out for the longtime bench boss. Advertisement Last season, in his second year with Auburn, Freeze and the Tigers posted a 5-7 record, marking their fourth consecutive campaign with seven losses. On Monday, Freeze and his staff made a significant move to help snap the program's unprecedented stretch of uninspiring football. According to On3, former Texas A&M Aggies safety and 2022 five-star prospect Jacoby Mathews will head to The Plains. © Petre Thomas-USA TODAY Sports Mathews' addition marks a massive splash for Auburn's 2025 outlook. The safety joined Texas A&M in 2022 under defensive coordinator DJ Durkin, tallying 25 tackles, three passes defended, and one fumble recovery. As a sophomore, the 6-foot-2 third-level defender recorded 41 tackles, four passes defended, and registered his first interception. Advertisement Mathews left A&M last year, enrolling at a Junior College before entertaining the Auburn Tigers. Durkin, Mathews' play caller from 2022 to 2023, is now working for Auburn under the same title. The former Aggies defender will join an Auburn team that will welcome nearly two dozen incoming transfers. Quarterback Jackson Arnold, offensive playmaker Eric Singleton Jr., and wide receiver Horatio Fields headline the group, with the trio expected to play a significant role in returning the SEC program to relevance. Mathews will compete with Kaleb Harris and Sylvester Smith for playing time in the secondary. Freeze and Company also added defensive backs Raion Strader and Taye Seymour through the transfer portal. Hugh Freeze Makes Concerning Admission on Auburn's NIL Budget

Hugh Freeze Makes Concerning Admission on Auburn's NIL Budget originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It has not been a good week to be an Auburn Tigers fan. On Wednesday, five-star recruits Earnest Rankins and Cederian Morgan committed to the Florida State Seminoles and the Alabama Crimson Tide, respectively, with each prospect having Auburn on their shortlist heading into the week. Advertisement Auburn is not only struggling to land commitments, but they are also failing to keep those who had previously pledged their allegiance to The Plains. With 2026 four-stars Denarius Gray and Shadarius Toodle denouncing their commitments from Auburn in the past week, the Tigers are now ranked 89th regarding the 2026 recruiting class, per 247Sports. Auburn Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze.© Jake Crandall/ Advertiser / USA TODAY NETWORK Auburn houses just six hard commits, highlighted by four-star edge rusher Hezekiah Harris and four-star quarterback and former Penn State Nittany Lions commit Peyton Falzone. For head coach Hugh Freeze, who finds himself in the crosshairs of fans after the program's latest setbacks, he believes the NIL era is to blame. According to Justin Hokanson of On3, Freeze says Auburn is "really low" on NIL funds compared to other top programs that are in play for their recruits. Advertisement Freeze also emphasized that his staff continues to operate under the rules and guidelines presented by the NCAA and Congress, which he feels other teams may not be as law-abiding. Nevertheless, Freeze has a belief in the program's direction, with a top-ten recruiting class in 2026 not out of the picture. Auburn AD John Cohen hints that August 1 — the first day players can sign NIL deals — as a chance for the Tigers to flip recruits.
