Every disease will be treated free of cost in government hospitals at every district headquarters of state: CM Nayab Saini
Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini KURUKSHETRA: Haryana chief minister (CM) Nayab Singh Saini announced a healthcare initiative under which free treatment for all diseases will be available at one government hospital in each district headquarters starting from August 15, 2025. Addressing villagers in Kishanpura and Girdarpur, the CM said that these hospitals will be equipped with modern facilities and will also offer services under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The CM also visited and listened to residents of Ban, Behlolpur and Jalkheri villages. To ensure efficient referrals, committees will be constituted at each of these hospitals to decide whether patients need to be sent to higher institutions like PGI Chandigarh or other tertiary care centers. At the village events, CM Saini said that the state government has completed all preparations to implement the Lado Lakshmi Scheme. Under this scheme, an amount of Rs 2,100 will be deposited into the bank accounts of women later this year. A provision of Rs 5,000 crore has also been made in the budget for this initiative. He said a significant aspect is that out of the 217 promises made by this government, 28 have been fulfilled in the last five months, and work is underway on 90 more. The government is accelerating development across all sectors and is committed to ensuring that the benefits of its schemes reach every individual, the CM said. CM Saini made these announcements during a direct interaction with villagers at the community center in Kishanpura and a Gurdwara hall in Girdarpur. Listening to citizens' concerns, the CM issued instructions to relevant departments for immediate action. On this occasion, he also participated in a tree plantation drive with local residents and announced a grant of Rs 21 lakh each for developmental works in both villages. Responding to demands submitted by the sarpanch of Kishanpura and Girdarpur, Saini assured that all requests would be fulfilled through relevant departments. He emphasised his deep connection with the Ladwa constituency, saying, 'It is because of the people of Ladwa that I have reached the position of Chief Minister. Today, Ladwa holds a special place in Haryana's development vision.' The CM shared that over Rs 110 crore worth of development projects are currently underway in Ladwa and praised the cooperation of district officials in resolving public issues promptly. Touching on the agricultural sector, Saini noted that the government is procuring all crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP) and bridging price gaps through the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana. Additionally, efforts are underway to provide housing to the economically weaker sections, reflecting the BJP government's commitment to working in 'mission mode' across the state. Saini invited people to freely submit their grievances in writing to DC Neha Singh, other local officials, or the CM's office. 'In case of an emergency, people are welcome to come and meet me in Chandigarh,' he added. He also took the opportunity to reflect on history, observing that June 25 marked 50 years since the imposition of Emergency in India, calling it one of the darkest periods post-Independence. 'Nearly one lakh forced sterilizations took place, and citizens lived in fear. Many were forced to flee their homes and hide in sugarcane fields. It is vital that the youth understand this history to prevent its repetition,' he said. Key officials present at the event included CM Office in-charge Kailash Saini, Kurukshetra DC Neha Singh, SP Nitish Aggarwal, various local sarpanches and community leaders.

The deceased were identified as Nasam Adinarayana, 45, from Nadendla village and Siriboyina Goapala Rao, 42, of Thubadu village. 'They allegedly committed suicide early on Tuesday,' tahasildar A.V. Goapala Rao had debts of about ₹40 lakh, and he grew cotton, chilli and tobacco. TDP MLA Prathipati Pulla Rao expressed shock over the suicide of farmers, and assured that the government wold extend support to their families. 'The government is committed to helping the two families, and once the inquiry is completed, financial aid will be released,' the Collector said. YSRCP leader Vidadala Rajini expressed concern over the suicide deaths, and said they were due to lack of Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for crops and rising debt burden. After consoling the bereaved families at the Chilakaluripet Government Hospital, she addressed the media and blamed the ruling coalition government for the deaths. Ms. Rajini said the two farmers couldn't get fair price for their produce. She criticised the government for its failure to provide MSP for any crop, despite repeated protests by farmers. Initiatives in last 11 years helped boost farmers' incomes: PM Modi
Several initiatives of the BJP-led NDA government during the last 11 years have boosted the prosperity of farmers and ensured the transformation of agriculture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday, underlined the far-reaching impact of his government's 'pro-farmer' programmes. The Centre also showcased flagship initiatives — such as the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, under which ₹3.68 lakh crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of 110 million farmers, and the Kisan Fasal Bima Yojana, under which ₹1.75 lakh crore has been disbursed to 230 million farmers — as important steps taken for the welfare of farmers. 'It's our privilege to serve our hardworking farmers. For the past 11 years, our various initiatives have boosted prosperity for farmers and also ensured an overall transformation of the agriculture sector,' Modi said in a post on X. 'We have focussed on issues like soil health and irrigation, which have been greatly beneficial. Our efforts towards farmer welfare will continue with greater vigour in the times to come.' The PM further said farmers were earlier forced to take loans for meeting small needs, but their lives have been made easier by his government. 'Reflecting on the last 11 years, the government's initiatives have not only enhanced prosperity among farmers but have also contributed to an overall transformation of the agriculture sector. Due to the continuous increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP), the country's food producers are receiving fair prices for their crops and experiencing a rise in their income,' Modi was quoted as saying in a PIB release. The PM over the last few days has been highlighting his government's decisions in specific sectors. The BJP-led NDA government has recently completed its 11 years in power, while the party will mark the first anniversary of Modi-led government's third term on June 9.

Scientifically assess crop cultivation and yield to determine required number of procurement centres, Karnataka High Court directs govt.
Taking note of the fact that the traditional harvest seasons have changed owing to climatic variations, the High Court of Karnataka has directed the State government to conduct a scientific study in every district to assess the nature of crops cultivated and estimated quantity of foodgrains likely to be brought by farmers to procurement centres, prior to determining the number and location of such centres. Petition of farmers A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice N.V. Anjaria (as he then was) and Justice K.V. Aravind issued the directions while disposing of a PIL petition filed by Raitha Sena Karnataka of Navalgund taluk in Dharwad district. Though the Bench did not accept the petitioner's request for keeping open the procurement centres on a permanent basis on all the 365 days of the year, it found it necessary to direct the government to open additional centres and beyond the traditional harvest seasons as both the Centre and State government had admitted that there has been a considerable change in traditional harvest seasons due to geographical and climatic changes. If the procurement centres are found to be insufficient when procurement of agricultural produce at Minimum Support Price (MSP) commences, the Bench said, the Deputy Commissioner of the district concerned should ensure that adequate additional centres are established and made operational within the procurement period to meet the demand. The number of required procurement centres has to be determined by the district MSP task force, chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of the respective district, the Bench said. Beyond traditional season In view of the fact that crop harvesting now extends beyond the traditional harvesting seasons, and in order to ensure that farmers are adequately remunerated through the MSP mechanism and are not compelled to resort to distress sale through middlemen, the State government should establish at least one procurement centre in each taluk for a period of two months beyond the procurement period fixed by the Government of India, the Bench said. However, the Bench made it clear that depending on the geographical conditions and the quantity of foodgrains produced in a particular region, the State government will have the discretion to keep procurement centres open beyond the period prescribed in this order, as may be necessary to ensure that the objectives of the MSP scheme are effectively achieved.
