DM to receive award for Bahraich's performance as aspirational district

Bahraich: To recognise the success achieved by Bahraich, an aspirational district, in governance and development, district magistrate Monika Rani will receive silver medal during 'Sampoornta Abhiyan Samman Samaroh' to be held in Lucknow between July 28 and Aug 2. The district has recorded 100% achievement in five key indicators under aspirational district and aspirational block programmes. Separate awards will be given for achievements at the district and block levels during the event. The five indicators in which Bahraich district and Huzoorpur block achieved full saturation include ANC (antenatal care) registration in the first trimester of pregnancy, screening for hypertension and diabetes among individuals aged 30 and above, regular receipt of supplementary nutrition by women through anganwadi centres and distribution of soil health cards. NITI Aayog had set targets for full saturation in five indicators under the Sampoornata Abhiyan from July to Sep 2024. These indicators span key areas such as health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion, skill development, and infrastructure. As part of the Government of India's 'Vocal for Local' initiative by NITI Aayog, a week-long 'Aakanksha Haat' will be organized at the district level to showcase and promote products and handicrafts of local artisans.

1 2 Bahraich: Bahraich has earned 9th spot in the overall CM Dashboard ranking released by the govt, reflecting remarkable administrative performance. The credit for this achievement is being attributed to district magistrate Monika Rani, who is known for her daily monitoring of govt schemes. According to the June 2025 report, six departments-- revenue, electricity, agriculture, rural development, health, animal husbandry, and industry secured a perfect 100% score in performance metrics. The revenue department secured the 2nd position across the state. "The departments scoring 100% deserve appreciation. Others must improve so that Bahraich can claim the top rank," said Monika Rani. Meanwhile under the Critical Gap Scheme for 2025-26, the state govt has released Rs 2 crore for developmental projects. Of this, Rs 1.4 crore will be used for rural development and Rs 60 lakh for urban development. Meanwhile during a review meeting, the DM approved the installation of 3 KVA solar plants and construction of boundary walls in rural cow shelters, with a total cost of Rs 1.4 lakh per site. She directed the concerned block development officers to submit the necessary cost estimates promptly. She also directed BDOs to install depth markers in ponds and pits to prevent accidents during the monsoon. For Kanwar Yatra, Rani emphasized proper cleanliness, lighting and barricading arrangements at temples, ghats and pilgrimage routes. She ordered immediate rectification of any waterlogging issues along Kanwar paths. The meeting was attended by CDO Mukesh Chandra, BDOs among others.

Bahraich: A 12-year-old boy, identified as Aman, was attacked by a wolf in Kharmariya Hardo Patti village in Mahsi area of Bahraich district early on Thursday morning. The boy sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The forest department has, so far, failed to capture the wild animal and the repeated wolf sightings have triggered fear among villagers. Panic gripped the Mahsi Tehsil of Bahraich district where a wild wolf snatched a two-year-old child from his mother's lap on Tuesday night. A few hours later, the child's mutilated body was recovered from a nearby sugarcane field, triggering fear and anger among the locals. District magistrate, Bahraich, Monika Rani, who has initiated several precautionary measures, said that the area is being monitored using drones. She has directed officials to maintain night surveillance in vulnerable villages, particularly those near forests. The DM has also appealed to residents to keep a close watch on their children, avoid sleeping outside or on open terrace and immediately report any sighting of wild animals to officers concerned. The DM directed the officials to coordinate with PRD personnel, anganwadi workers, sanitation staff, village heads, lekhpals and gram panchayat secretaries. They were instructed to stay alert from 8 pm to 5 am, raise awareness among villagers and continuously update a designated WhatsApp group with real-time information.

Bahraich: Chief Minister on Friday congratulated Monika Rani , district magistrate (DM), Bahraich, for being honoured with the prestigious Prime Minister's Award on the occasion of the 17th Civil Services Day . The recognition was given for the exemplary implementation of the 'Seva Se Santushtikaran Abhiyan' a unique initiative aimed at timely resolution of public issues, saturation of govt welfare schemes, and promotion of women empowerment through community participation in Bahraich district. The campaign also contributed significantly to the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra' and the holistic development of the aspirational district of Bahraich, based on key performance indicators. Following the award ceremony, the DM paid a courtesy visit to the CM, during which he praised the district administration's outstanding work and took a detailed briefing on the conceptualization and execution of the campaign. Yogi also encouraged the administration to continue expanding the reach of both central and state govt welfare and development schemes to every village and citizen.
