NTPC Simhadri celebrates ‘28th Raising Day'
Visakhapatnam: From its humble beginnings, NTPC Simhadri scaled remarkable heights, achieving milestones such as 100 per cent ash utilisation, consistent operational excellence, and contributions that extend far beyond power generation, said executive director and head of project, NTPC Simhadri Sameer Sharma. At the commemoration of NTPC Simhadri's 28th Raising Day, Sharma elaborated about the first coastal-based power plant's journey since its establishment in 1997. He congratulated the employees for their continued efforts, lauded the station's performance in FY 2024–25, and called for collective dedication to achieve the milestones set for the current fiscal year. The celebration included distribution of prizes to winners who took part in recent campaigns and competitions, including Swachhata Pakhwada, World Environment Day and International Yoga Day. The occasion was marked by a flag-hoisting ceremony in the presence of senior officials of the organisation.

NTPC Simhadri commemorated its 28th Raising Day on Tuesday (July 8) at its administrative premises in Parawada, Anakapalli district. Sameer Sharma, Executive Director and Head of Project, hoisted the NTPC flag and led the gathering in the rendition of the NTPC anthem. In his address, Mr. Sharma reflected on the plant's journey since its inception in 1997 as NTPC's first coastal-based power station. He highlighted key achievements over the years, including 100% ash utilisation and several accomplishments beyond power generation. The celebration also included a cake-cutting ceremony and prize distribution to winners of recent initiatives such as Swachhata Pakhwada, World Environment Day, and International Yoga Day.

Odisha wins NTPC Em-Power Cricket Series for visually impaired girls in Visakhapatnam
Odisha emerged victorious in the NTPC Em-Power Cricket Series for visually impaired girls, defeating Andhra Pradesh, in the final match. Cricket Association for the Blind in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala organised the event, which was sponsored by NTPC Simhadri, said secretary -Ajay Kumar Reddy. Odisha won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 109 runs in 15 overs with the loss of 6 wickets. Phula Saran top-scored with 39 runs off 39 balls, while Rachana Jena contributed 14 runs off 12 balls. N Sujata, S Mikka, and Ravani each took 1 wicket for Andhra Pradesh. In response, Andhra Pradesh fell short of the target, scoring 80 runs for 10 wickets in 15 overs. P Prema Kumari scored 42 runs off 43 balls. Odisha won the match by 29 runs, with Basanthi Hamsanda playing a crucial role. The tournament featured four teams: Kerala, Delhi, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. During the final match, GVMC deputy Mayor D. Govind Reddy participated in the closing ceremony on Wednesday. The NTPC Simhadri head Sameer Sharma distributed trophies to the winning and runner-up teams.
