Sarawak GOF seizes RM1.16 mln in smuggled goods
KUCHING: The General Operations Force (GOF) Sarawak brigade has successfully seized smuggled goods worth RM1.16 million in a series of operations conducted across the southern part of the state. The operations, codenamed Op Taring Awas and Op Batas, targeted illegal smuggling activities in multiple locations. According to SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang, GOF commander, a July 2 operation in Bau led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man and the confiscation of 9,000 kg of frozen food valued at RM522,000, along with a lorry. On the same day, another arrest was made in Bau involving a 52-year-old man, with 6,500 kg of frozen food worth RM367,000 and a lorry seized,' he stated. Further operations yielded additional results. On June 30, a 35-year-old man was detained in Serian, where 600 litres of diesel, three drums, and a Toyota Hilux were seized, amounting to RM136,728. Meanwhile, a patrol in Tebedu last Saturday uncovered 145 cartons of smuggled cigarettes with unpaid taxes estimated at RM78,300. In a separate incident in Tebedu, a 39-year-old man was arrested, and authorities confiscated 576 kg of sugar and a van, with a combined value of RM62,141.60. – Bernama

Sarawak GOF Seizes Smuggled Goods Worth RM1.16 Mln
KUCHING, July 7 (Bernama) -- The General Operations Force (GOF), Sarawak brigade seized various goods worth RM1.16 million under Op Taring Awas and Op Batas held at various locations in the south of the state recently. Its commander, SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said that an operation on July 2 in Bau led to the arrest of a man, 25, along with 9,000 kilogrammes (kg) of frozen food worth RM522,000, and a lorry. 'On the same day, also in Bau, the GOF arrested a man, 52, and seized 6,500 kg of frozen food products worth RM367,000, including a lorry,' he said in a statement here today.

Sarawak GOF seizes RM5.5 million in illegal logging, liquor, diesel, drugs
KUCHING: The Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF) confiscated goods worth RM5,497,813 in four separate operations targeting illegal logging, liquor, diesel, and drugs between June 23 and 28. The operations, named Op Taring Alpha, Op Taring Bravo, Op Taring Awas, and Op Libas, were conducted in Kuching, Sibu, Miri, and Lundu. SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang, GOF Commander, confirmed the seizures in a statement today. The largest haul came from Op Libas in Sibu on June 24, where authorities raided an illegal logging site, arresting three men aged 39 to 57. A total of 350 logs and a wood-cutting machine were seized, with an estimated value of RM3.504 million. In Op Taring Alpha on June 23, GOF investigators raided a premises in Kuching, seizing 32,736 litres of untaxed liquor and arresting five men aged 26 to 36. A lorry was also confiscated, bringing the total seizure value to RM1,457,648. Meanwhile, Op Taring Bravo in Miri on June 25 led to the arrest of two men aged 32 and 45, along with the seizure of 39,300 litres of diesel stored without a permit. A storage tank and a lorry were also taken, with the total seizure valued at RM486,065. The final operation, Op Taring Awas in Lundu on June 28, saw three men aged 23 to 36 arrested after GOF officers found 0.32 grams of suspected methamphetamine in their vehicle. The total seizure, including the car, was worth RM50,100. From January 1 to June 30, Sarawak GOF recorded total seizures worth RM290.3 million, involving 236 cases and 355 arrests. Among those detained were 264 locals and 91 foreigners, with 193 vehicles impounded.

Through Op Taring Bravo, in Miri on June 25, a team from the GOF Miri raided premises in the district, arresting two local men, aged 32 and 45, and seizing 39,300 litres of diesel stored without a permit.
