Liverpool defender closer to agreement over new deal
The arrival of Milos Kerkez is going to have a knock-on effect for several Liverpool players. Having paid around £45m to Bournemouth for the left-back, the Reds will plan to utilise the Hungarian as their first-choice in the position for the long term. That will have an impact on Andy Robertson, who has been with the club since 2017, as well as Kostas Tsimikas. The club isn't big enough for three left-backs - and the deposed duo are not short of transfer interest. Advertisement It appears certain that one or both will leave this summer, thereby allowing Kerkez to take his place in the team. But there is another Liverpool left-back to consider here. It's Owen Beck. The 22-year-old enjoyed a productive season out on loan at Blackburn last term - and returns to the club under considerable scrutiny. Owen Beck linked with Rangers The Welshman has got plenty of clubs interested in signing him - a list that reportedly includes Sheffield United and Wrexham. Most recently it was reported that Rangers had plans to add Beck this summer - although it wasn't specified if it was a loan move or a permanent deal. Advertisement But now the picture is becoming a little clearer with the news that the club are talking to the left-back over a new deal. Under contract only until 2026, it would be pointless if the Reds let him out on loan only to lose him for free next summer. But Football Insider now suggests that the club will seek to tie him down to a new contract before sanctioning a loan deal. A new contract plus a loan move will protect Liverpool from a transfer fee perspective. If Beck goes on to enjoy a good season at Rangers or elsewhere then Liverpool can formulate a plan for a permanent deal. Alternatively Beck may well have the option of returning to Anfield as a Kerkez back-up. Robertson, 31, will leave next summer when his contract ends if he doesn't get a move away this year. And Tsimikas has rarely convinced in a Liverpool shirt - with the club surely willing to cash in. That would leave a spot free for Beck to challenge Kerkez - and save the Reds plenty of money on a potential left-back replacement.

The Welshman managed 49 appearances for the Potters in all - scoring six goals and adding three assists. Advertisement But the forward's future is very much up for discussion with a new report in the Daily Mail now suggesting that Sheffield United have moved into the frame for his signature. In an item concerning the Blades' interest in Owen Beck, it's been revealed that Koumas is also wanted. Koumas previously of interest to Sheffield United United finished third in the Championship last season, missing out on promotion after losing in the playoff final to Sunderland. The club have just announced Ruben Selles as their new manager, replacing Chris Wilder. Koumas was previously linked with Sheffield United in Wilder's days - with the manager's long-term assistant Alan Knill possessing insider knowledge on both Koumas and fellow Welshman Beck. He was on the staff of Rob Page in the Wales national team - and having worked with both players he recommended them to Wilder. Page, of course, is now Liverpool's under-21 manager, having made a surprise decision to join earlier this week.

Milos Kerkez deal could see Liverpool left-back join Rangers
Liverpool are facing a transfer overhaul in the current transfer window. We've already seen the club move on from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher and Nat Phillips - among others - but expect more departures before the summer is out. Sporting director Richard Hughes and Arne Slot will require several outgoings to finance the next phase of their transfer plans - which include adding a new striker and perhaps even a new centre-back. But even those further away from the first-team picture could be cashed in. One of those players who could potentially move on is Owen Beck. The 22-year-old left-back impressed out on loan last season in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers. The Wales international previously spent time away from the club at Dundee, Bolton Wanderers and Famalicao. Advertisement And according to a report in Ibrox Noise, Rangers could be the next destination for the homegrown Liverpool defender. Kerkez arrival could see a clearout The Scottish giants are undergoing a transformation this summer under new head coach Russell Martin and reportedly see Beck as a key target. Given his previous success in the SPFL with Dundee, Rangers are now 'making a serious move' for the left-sided defender. Beck has been at Liverpool since under-13 level, making his first-team debut in 2021. His current contract is listed as expiring in 2026 - per Transfermarkt. Therefore Liverpool could try to convince Beck to sign a new contract before sending him out on loan.

Owen Beck wanted for Rangers transfer but there is one condition
The former Dundee defender spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers from Liverpool Rangers are keen to land Owen Beck but it could depend on Ridvan Yilmaz being sold. The Light Blues have confirmed an interest in the Liverpool left-back. They have indicated they would be keen on a permanent deal but it would depend on Yilmaz going. The Turkish defender has been consistently linked to a move back home since he arrived at Ibrox. The 24-year-old has been trailed by the likes of former club Besiktas and Galatasaray. Rangers are aware of interest again and could sell this summer if the price is right. Russell Martin is looking to put his own stamp on the squad and that is why he has already brought in Max Aarons and has targeted Conor Coady. Beck is another who fits the bill but Rangers also have Jefte and are unlikely to bring in a third left-back. Beck has previously shown up well in a loan spell at Dundee and was previously a target for Celtic. He has struggled to break into the Liverpool first-team on a regular basis and has also been out on loan at Blackburn Rovers.
