Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Health experts have warned people to remain cautious as the peak season is just ahead. Officials said of the total 62 dengue cases, the majority were from the capital. When asked about the steps being taken by the department as cases are expected to increase with each passing day, Patna civil surgeon Dr Avinash Kumar Singh said they were on alert mode and beds were earmarked in all the govt hospitals. "Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) has been designated as a dedicated dengue hospital, and in Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), the ICU beds will be reserved for dengue patients. Apart from these hospitals, five beds each have been earmarked in district and sub-divisional hospitals and two beds each in community health centres," said Dr Singh. He further said the Elisa dengue test facility was available at the PMCH, NMCH, AIIMS-Patna, and IGIMS, and only those samples which were positive in the Elisa test were being counted by them. He further said that while the municipal corporation was looking after the fogging and spraying of larvicide in the urban areas, in rural areas, the health department was taking up the task on its own. City-based physician, Dr Diwakar Tejaswi, said he got one dengue patient this week, who was a student staying in a hostel in the Saidpur locality. "The cases start increasing from Sept and reach their peak by Oct. Hence, one should take all precautions," he said. Director at Mahavir Vatsalya Hospital, Dr Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, also advised people to take all precautions to control the situation. "One should wear full sleeves clothes and ensure there is no stagnant water in the house or around the locality," he said.

Nitish is tired; retired, corrupt officers running Bihar: Tejashwi Yadav

Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav came down heavily on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar while reiterating his charge that the CM remains "tired" and the "retired, corrupt officials" were running the government in the state. Yadav's response came after he was asked about his "mentally unfit or unhealthy" remarks against Nitish Kumar. "Have you noticed that Nitish Kumar doesn't say anything to the media? When there are government officials or the Deputy Chief Minister on stage, why do they hold his hand? When the national anthem is playing, he talks with the officials. What does it tell you? When respect was being paid to Mahatma Gandhi, he was busy applauding, and everyone was telling him to put down his hands," Yadav said in an exclusive interview with ANI. Recalling various incidents where the officials had to give directions to Nitish Kumar in public, the RJD leader said that Kumar only goes out to public events for a photoshoot when the Opposition comments on his "tiredness", but remains within a few kilometres' radius of his official residence. "This is a stage in life, and I don't like to comment on it. However, he is tired. When we say this, he goes for a photoshoot but stays within a 2-3 kilometre radius of his residence in Patna. Why doesn't he go and meet the rape victim? Why does he not visit the incident sites? Why doesn't he hold press conferences?" Yadav asked. When asked who is running the government if the CM is "tired", Yadav said that it was the retired and corrupt officials who were running the Bihar government. "Retired, corrupt officials. Those who are corrupt officials. The Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) Superintendent had retired, but he was given an extension after my government fell. The Chief Engineer, who was caught with crores of rupees, was retired only," he added. Moreover, Yadav claimed that if the law and order situation in Bihar is compared to the one under the previous RJD-led Mahagathbandhan government based on crime data, it would reveal that criminal activities are "out of control "under the Nitish Kumar government. "Our term in Bihar is often labelled as 'Maha jungle raj'. Compare it with the data whether the law and order situation was good during our term or is good this term. If you go through the data, it is clear that the crime is out of control under Nitish Kumar (government)," the RJD leader said. Yadav questioned the silence of the media over the actions of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha during his visit to the rape victim's family in Muzzafarpur, where he asked them to swear to prove whether they were speaking the truth that they had to wait to avail treatment for the minor Dalit girl at PMCH. "The rape case that happened, the Deputy Chief Minister asked the family members (of the victim) to swear on their mother and sister that treatment was refused at PMCH. The family had alleged that they were kept outside (waiting) for nearly four to five hours, which was the truth; that's why you removed the Deputy Superintendent. Are you visiting there to give sympathy or ask them to swear on their mother that they are speaking the truth? This is not a matter of debate in the news," he added.

Patna: A youth, Sunil Manjhi , from Gabhatal Mushahari, died during treatment at the PMCH after being arrested by Danapur police in Patna for alcohol-related offence. Upon learning about the death, relatives of Sunil staged a protest at the Danapur sub-jail's entrance on Sunday morning and later blocked the Danapur-Gandhi Maidan road. Sunil was arrested by the police on June 9 for consumption of alcohol and its sale. His wife, Mamta Devi, said that Sunil suffered from epilepsy and lost consciousness at the police station while being transferred to jail, yet the authorities proceeded with his incarceration. Bihar shocker! Children remove nuts & bolts from ₹422-crore Patna flyover

An incident related to safety of Patna's first elevated corridor or double-deck flyover has came to light after viral videos on social media platforms showed some children removing nuts and bolts from the flyover. The flyover was recently inaugurated by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Sharing the video on social media platform X, a user wrote: 'Patna's double-decker flyover was opened on June 11, and these kids are seen removing its nuts and bolts. A Serious Safety Hazard! They don't appear local, possibly Bangladeshi!' The video drew reactions from several X users raising questions about the quality of bolts used. A user commented: "What kind of nuts can be opened using only hands?" "Really? Anyone can open it ? Wow .. well thought and built then," said another. The double-deck bridge has been built in two layers (decks) above Ashok Rajpath, which starts from Kargil Chowk near Gandhi Maidan and goes to PMCH to the Science College. On Jun 11 during the inauguration, the CM had said that the connectivity of this double-deck flyover with the fast-moving Patna Metro project will further strengthen the traffic management of the city. The flyover was built by the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited for ₹ 422 crore, according to an official statement. "After the inauguration, the CM inspected the double-decker flyover from Kargil Chowk to Science College and Science College to Kargil Chowk near Gandhi Maidan. He also inquired about its connectivity to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH)," the statement said.
