KOTA MARUDU: Mutiara GRS, the charitable organisation of Sabah elected representatives' spouses, continued its community outreach by delivering aid to two Community-Based Rehabilitation Centres (PDK) and five Integrated Special Education Programmes (PPKI) in the district. Its president, Datin Seri Juliah Salag, said the contributions which included food supplies and cash were aimed at easing the burden of the centres and supporting the continued operation of special education institutions. 'We provided food items such as biscuits and other daily necessities, along with a cash contribution of RM100 for each PDK to help with their daily needs,' she told reporters during the organisation's 'Ziarah Amal Tandek' visit to SMK Bandau on Tuesday. Juliah said that as a welfare-based organisation, Mutiara GRS encourages elected representatives' spouses to stay informed about the welfare of children and local community issues in their respective areas. 'Though these children differ in their abilities, many of them show exceptional potential in areas like visual arts and graphic design. With proper training, they can achieve a bright future,' she said. The visit also included an educational tour of the pineapple plantation in Kampung Gana to expose participants to agriculture and entrepreneurship. 'This plantation has strong potential to be promoted as a main centre for pineapple and rubber production in Sabah, which can help improve the livelihood of the local community, especially those in the hardcore poor category,' Juliah said. Among the recipients of aid were PPDK Kota Marudu, PPDK Tandek, PPKI SMK Bandau, PPKI SMK Tandek, PPKI SK Timbang Batu, PPKI SK Marak Parak and PPKI SK Talantang. Also present were Mutiara GRS Vice Presidents I, II and III; Datin Seri Cecilia Edwin Kitingan, Datin Seri Linda Ewit and Datin Dg. Siti Noor Hayyat Ag Mohd Saufi. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
