Palestinian detainee suffers mobility impairment due to torture in Israeli enemy prison

Ramallah – Saba: The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) reported on Wednesday that 19-year-old administrative detainee Mohammed Naseem Abu al-Ezz from Jericho, arrested last August, has lost his ability to move due to repeated severe torture and beatings in Israel's "Naqab Desert" prison. According to a PPS statement, Abu al-Ezz's health rapidly deteriorated from continuous abuse, culminating in him being unable to meet his basic needs. This necessitated his transfer to Soroka Hospital, where he underwent delicate back surgery. He was later moved to "Ramla Prison Clinic," and now suffers from mobility impairment in the lower half of his body. The PPS emphasized that Abu al-Ezz had no prior health issues before his arrest, making him "a new victim of the systematic torture crimes" against prisoners in Israeli jails. The PPS affirmed that torture has been the primary cause of death for dozens of detainees in Israeli prisons since the start of what it calls the "genocide crime." Palestinian Prisoner Organizations: Israeli enemy issues 600 administrative detention orders in two weeks

Ramallah – Saba: The Palestinian Prisoner's Society and the Prisoner's Club reported on Tuesday that Israeli enemy intelligence has issued at least 600 administrative detention orders in the past two weeks. These add to the thousands of orders issued since the start of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip. In a joint statement, the organizations noted an unprecedented surge in the number of administrative detainees, including women and children, since the beginning of the genocide. As of June, the number of administrative detainees has reached 3,562, including at least 95 children under the age of 18. They emphasized that the number of administrative detainees since the start of the genocide is the highest in history and now exceeds the number of sentenced and detained prisoners, according to the Palestinian news agency "Safa." The organizations stated that the crime of administrative detention is one of the most prominent systematic policies historically employed by the Israeli enemy authorities against Palestinian citizens. This policy is a continuous attempt to suppress any rising resistance and to target activists across all spheres—social, political, and cultural. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print

Palestinian officials name detainee who died in Israeli custody

The detainee who died earlier today in Israeli custody has been named by Palestinian officials as Nasser Khalil Radaydeh. The 49-year-old was from al-Ubeidiya, in the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem. He was transferred to Hadasa hospital on Saturday from Israel's Ofer Prison. Radaydeh was a married father of seven. He has been imprisoned since 18 September 2023, according to Palestinian media. The total number of Palestinians to die in Israeli custody since the war on Gaza began has now risen to 65. At least 40 of these detainees are from Gaza. It marks the deadliest period for Palestinian prisoners since 1967. In a joint statement, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner's Society said they held Israel responsible for Radaydeh's death.

Israel releases Palestinian prisoner controversially arrested aged 13

CNN — Israel has released a Palestinian man who was controversially arrested at the age of 13, after he spent nearly a decade in jail. Ahmad Manasra has been reunited with his family, his lawyer Khaled Zabarqa told CNN. 'Ahmad has completed his 10-year sentence and he is a free person now,' Zabarqa said. 'The Israeli authorities have imposed restriction on the family as far as holding a welcome ceremony for Ahmad or talking to the media. ' Ahmad Manasra was arrested and imprisoned in 2015 after being caught with his cousin Hassan who stabbed two Israelis in East Jerusalem. Hassan was shot dead at the scene while Manasra was run over by a car. Manasra's case gained international attention after a video emerged of crowds shouting abuse at him after the incident while he lies motionless, seriously injured and crying out. Other footage allegedly shows Israeli officials interrogating Manasra under duress as he is visibly shaken and vulnerable, according to the Palestinian Prisoner's Society. He was sentenced to 12 years for attempted murder in 2016, despite Israeli courts' recognizing he had not been involved in the stabbings, the Palestinian Prisoner's Society added. His sentence was revised down to nine and a half years following an appeal in 2017 International groups have repeatedly called on Israeli authorities for his release over the years over concerns of his treatment and extended stays in solitary confinement, coupled with mental health issues and a schizophrenia diagnosis. 'His physical and medical condition is very difficult as he suffers from head injuries and physiological mental health as he was in solitary confinement and was subjected to harsh interrogation when he was a child,' his lawyer said. Israel's prison authorities confirmed Manasra was being released on Thursday, adding 'Israel is a state of law, we don't torture people here.'
