Switch 2 owners can play Borderlands 4 on October 3

Switch 2 owners won't have long to wait for Borderlands 4 . On Tuesday, Gearbox founder and CEO Randy Pitchford said it will arrive on October 3. While some had worried the game would be pushed back to 2026, it will land on Nintendo's console less than a month after other platforms. Pitchford's video begins with a sober build toward what sounds like bad news. Just when you think he's about to announce a delay, he turns into an excited 10-year-old, yelling about the game's October release date. "That date is October 3! It's October 3, you guys!! It's not next year; it's not even the holiday! It's so much before Christmas; it's so much before Thanksgiving! It's October 3, you guys!!!" Pitchford, who is a magician on the side, clearly relished this. To view this content, you'll need to update your privacy settings. That followed the epic, messy implosion of its former owner, Embracer Group. In the game, you'll play as a vault dweller taking on the dreaded Timekeeper and his ruthless army. It's set on a new planet, Kairos. It also introduces new gameplay mechanics (a grappling hook!), seamless world transitions (no loading screens) and fluid co-op (asynchronous difficulty levels). Best of all, it won't cost $80. Tone-deaf comments Pitchford made in May sparked speculation that the game might pull a Mario Kart World . (His magic failed him that day.) The game first launches on PC, PlayStation and Xbox on September 12. Unlike those platforms, Borderlands 4 for Switch 2 isn't yet available for pre-order. Borderlands 4 launch price confirmed at $70 by Randy Pitchford: When does the game come out?

Fans of the popular looter-shooter series Borderlands can now breathe a sigh of relief as Gearbox Software officially confirmed the launch price for Borderlands 4 as $70 for the Standard Edition. Earlier, there had been fears of an $80 price tag following controversial comments from Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford. This announcement comes after months of uncertainty and backlash from players when Pitchford hinted at the possibility of a higher cost. Pitchford later apologized for the comments after he was criticised by industry professionals. 'No price increase for Borderlands 4,' Pitchford said on his X account, calming the nerves of fans who were worried about following the trend set by games like Mario Kart: World, which launched at $80. The big news: No price increase for Borderlands 4! Standard Edition launches not at $80, but at $69.99! They're showing you, so please show them. You can find links to pre-order Borderlands 4 PC and console versions on the store pages here: — Randy Pitchford (@DuvalMagic) June 16, 2025 In addition to the price reveal, Gearbox confirmed exclusive pre-order bonuses for the Standard Edition, which includes skins for the Vault Hunter, weapon, and the new Echo-4 Drone. It will be released on September 12, 2025. The upcoming game marks a significant departure from the series' traditional setting, taking players to a new open-world sandbox called Kairos. With new movement features, an expanded arsenal, and the introduction of three new gun manufacturers, Borderlands 4 promises to be the most ambitious installment in the franchise to date. The development also comes amidst a trend by popular video games, such as Outer Worlds 2, which have been launched at $80. Fans have had a negative reaction in response to these games. The official pricing announcement has put an end to speculation, and the excitement for the game continues to build. Fans can now pre-order the game and look forward to what promises to be another thrilling addition to the Borderlands universe.

Borderlands 4 will not cost $80, despite misguided executive comments

Borderlands 4 , the latest entry in Gearbox Software's popular looter shooter franchise, is available to pre-order now for $70, a good $10 less than many assumed it would cost. The game's price first came into question when its September 12 release date was announced without pre-order details, and Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford suggested that whether the game came with a $80 price tag was out of his hands. Pitchford put his foot in his mouth in a thread on X sharing a behind-the-scenes video about bringing Borderlands 4 to the Switch 2. A fan replied to the video asking Pitchford to not charge $80 for the game, to which Pitchford responded, "A) Not my call. B) If you're a real fan, you'll find a way to make it happen." B) If you're a real fan, you'll find a way to make it happen. My local game store had Starflight for Sega Genesis for $80 in 1991 when I was just out of high school working minimum wage at an ice cream parlor in Pismo Beach and I found a way to make it happen. — Randy Pitchford (@DuvalMagic) May 14, 2025 Naturally, that came off as a bit glib to anyone surprised by the sudden emergence of $80 games following the release of Mario Kart World . Pitchford didn't exactly double-down next, but at a PAX East panel later in May, he also didn't deny the game would have a higher price, noting that " Borderlands 4 has more than twice the development budget than Borderlands 3. " The official pre-order information settles things: the game is not going the way of Mario Kart. The Standard Edition of Borderlands 4 costs $70 and comes with free Vault Hunter, weapon and drone skins if you pre-order. If you step up to the $100 Deluxe Edition, you get even more skins and a "Bounty Pack Bundle" that includes exclusive areas and weapons. For the $130 Super Deluxe Edition, you get all of that plus the "Vault Hunter Pack," which includes the game's two story DLC packs and new playable characters. A $70 game is not a $60 game, but if price is your biggest concern, it's better than $80. Gearbox plans to show off more of Borderlands 4 's story and gameplay at Borderlands Fan Fest on June 21. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S and PC on September 12. The Switch 2 release is scheduled for 2025, too, and Gearbox plans to share more information about it at a later date.

Borderlands 4 price revealed and the most expensive edition is £120

After Gearbox's CEO sparked concern last month, Borderlands 4 doesn't carry an £80 price tag – unless you want a deluxe edition. The price of games has become a sensitive topic over the past year, with Mario Kart World taking the brunt of the hysteria over its £74.99 price tag. While the reality of the situation is more nuanced, with the rising costs of development and lack of adjustment for inflation over the years not always taken into account, the importance of the topic only looks set to increase as we approach GTA 6 – which many estimate may cost £100 or more when it launches next year. With every upcoming AAA title, there's now the worry that the price goal posts could be moved, with many fearing that Borderlands 4 would be the next to up the ante. The cost of Borderlands 4 hit the spotlight last month when Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford clumsily told fans they'll 'find a way' to purchase the game if it did end up costing $80/£80. After some backlash, he later apologised for what he described as a 'misunderstanding'. Despite this furore, Take-Two Interactive has now confirmed Borderlands 4 will cost £69.99, in line with other high-end PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S games. However, if you want the deluxe editions, you're going to have to cough up significantly more. The deluxe edition is priced at £89.99 and comes with a Firehawk's Fury weapon skin and the Bounty Pack bundle, which includes four new areas with new missions and bosses, four vault cards, new gear and weapons, vault hunter cosmetics, and four new vehicles. You can find links to pre-order Borderlands 4 PC and console versions on the store pages here: — Randy Pitchford (@DuvalMagic) June 16, 2025 The super deluxe edition, meanwhile, comes with all of the above along with the Ornate Order Pack (four vault hunter skins, bodies, and heads) and the Vault Hunter Pack. The latter consists of two post-launch DLC packs which will be announced at a later date, but it will feature new story content, side missions, and two new map regions. More Trending If you pre-order any of these editions, you'll receive the Gilded Glory Pack, which includes one Vault Hunter skin, one weapon skin, and one ECHO-4 drone skin. While it's unclear if the base £69.99 price was in response to the backlash, Pitchford – who isn't responsible for how much it costs – posted on X about the announcement. 'The big news: No price increase for Borderlands 4! Standard edition launches not at $80, but at $69.99! They're showing you, so please show them,' he wrote. The big question is whether Borderlands 4 will be worth that price, and we'll find out that when it launches September 12 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The sequel will also be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter. He was 20 when he was sentenced to death. Now he hopes US Supreme Court will hear his case

A man on Mississippi's death row is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to take a look at his case while he continues seeking other federal relief. Terry Pitchford, 39, was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to death in 2006 for the death of a man in a Grenada County grocery store during an armed robbery in 2004. In 2023, Terry Pitchford's conviction and death sentence were set aside and a new trial was ordered by a federal district court judge. The state appealed and the conviction and sentence were reinstated after a ruling in favor of the state by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mississippi: Man whose death sentence was overturned in 2023 is now facing death again. Here's why Now Pitchford is hoping the nation's highest court will review his case while he also continues to work on other aspects of the case in the Mississippi Northern District of U.S. District Court. The state has until July 3 to file a brief opposing Pitchford's petition. The Supreme Court may consider Pitchford's petition at the opening conference of the October term. Pitchford is asking the Supreme Court to review his Batson claim, which refers to jury selection in which race, ethnicity or gender played a role in excluding potential jurors. During jury selection at Pitchford's trial, then-District Attorney Doug Evans "used four of his allotted 12 peremptory strikes to remove four of the five Black venirepersons provisionally seated in the jury's empaneling," court records show. Evans was accused of doing the same during the prosecution of Curtis Flowers, who stood trial six times for the murders of four people at a furniture store in Winona. The U.S. Supreme Court in 2019 overturned Flowers' conviction for the last time, with Justice Brett Kavanaugh "citing a 'relentless, determined effort to rid the jury of Black individuals,'" according to an earlier story. In Pitchford's case, during his appeal, the Mississippi Supreme Court said Pitchford should have raised objections at his initial trial if he wanted to contest the jury selection. The court's decision in favor of the state was not unanimous. Two justices disagreed with the ruling, saying "the record showed that D.A. Evans used peremptory strikes in an intentionally racially discriminatory manner," according to court documents. The federal court agreed with the dissenters and set aside Pitchford's conviction and ordered a new trial. The federal appellate court looked at the case and determined the Mississippi Supreme Court did not err when it considered the Batson claim and reinstated Pitchford's conviction and sentence. Now it will be up to the U.S. Supreme Court to weigh in, if it decides to review the case. Lici Beveridge is a reporter for the Hattiesburg American and Clarion Ledger.
