CM Punk Appears As 'Dr. Of Thuganomics'; Parodies John Cena With 'Punkanomics' Rap: WATCH

Last Updated: CM Punk retaliated against John Cena on Friday Night SmackDown by mimicking Cena's old-school "Doctor of Thuganomics" gimmick. CM Punk decided to go bar-for-bar with John Cena on Friday Night SmackDown tonight, in classic 'Thuganomics' fashion, as retaliation for the reverse-pipebomb gimmick from last week. It was just a week ago when Cena slammed Punk through a table and delivered a scathing promo that parodied Punk's iconic 2011 'pipe bomb"—the very one delivered after Cena himself had been put through a table following a match with R-Truth. Well, it's always an eye for an eye with CM Punk, who responded in kind by copying Cena's 'Doctor of Thuganomics" gimmick on this week's go-home episode of SmackDown in Saudi Arabia. 👊 PunkLife 👊THIS IS BASIC PUNKANOMICS! 🔥 — WWE (@WWE) June 28, 2025 After Cena made his usual entrance, his old Basic Thuganomics entrance music played, and out came CM Punk. Punk was dressed similar to how Cena would dress as the Dr of Thuganomics about 20 years ago, and grabbed a mic on his way into the ring. Punk then proceeded to cut a promo on Cena in the form of a rap. Punk's rap took shots at Cena moving in slow motion, burying more wrestlers than The Undertaker, fixing his bald spot, and somehow being more problematic than Hulk Hogan. He said I'm a problem, he called me a player hater, let's be honest, John Cena's buried more talent than the Undertaker. That's why he's the champ and went and lost all his respects, but John I get it, I'd retire too if this place rehired my ex. If you never said your prayers, ate your vitamins or fixed your bald spot, you wouldn't be a pro wrestler, you'd be a Boston Mall Cop. But hey, he gets good movie roles that much is a fact, and then you see Batista act and you realise John ain't that. Same shirt, same hat, man, your persona stayed tragic. You're like a fish bellied white Hulk Hogan but somehow more problematic. . @CMPunk just left @JohnCena speechless… 👀 — WWE (@WWE) June 28, 2025 For someone who started off the night with boos after issuing an apology during the WWE Night of Champions Kickoff show for his tweet years ago about Saudi Arabia, Punk surely ended the night well, with the crowds singing ' Cult of Personality' in unison as he left.

This surprise return has gotten everyone talking, and someone who's really happy about it is Shotzi Blackheart. What Shotzi Blackheart thinks about R-Truth's return During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, former WWE superstar Shotzi Blackheart shared her thoughts on R-Truth's return. Blackheart said, 'I do think that they actually let him go. I just feel like, because also at the same time Carlito and Sarah Logan, they told them that their contract wasn't getting renewed so I think it would be really messed up of WWE to capitalize on that.' Joe Pyfer and Shotzi Blackheart IN STUDIO, Diego x Yair Feud, Canelo v Crawford on Netflix | 6/10/25 Blackheart also made a strong point about the power wrestling fans have in making things happen. 'I think that fans got him back. I think the fans got him back and that just shows you how much power the fans do have sometimes, so I think that's really cool. He's 53. That just gives us hope that- I could be 53-years-old and be put in some crazy storyline still.' The superstar made it clear that the fans made their voices heard, and WWE listened. Triple H has commented on R-Truth's return While many wrestling fans celebrated R-Truth's return, WWE's Chief Content Officer, Triple H, kept things a little confusing. At a press conference after the Money in the Bank event, when someone asked him about R-Truth's return, Triple H casually said, 'You enjoying the show? All part of the show, man.' R-Truth net worth: How rich is the 53-year-old legend who has taken the WWE by storm again?

R-Truth net worth: R-Truth/Ron Killings has become an inseparable part of WWE programming ever since he returned at Money in the Bank on June 7 and attacked John Cena during his tag match against Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes. Earlier tonight, on the June 13 episode of SmackDown, the 53-year-old veteran assaulted the Undisputed Champion on two occasions. His actions were met with cheers, a clear indication that he is a hit with the WWE Universe. R-Truth has earned a lot from his career in wrestling, which started in the late 90s. Here is a look at his net worth and sources of income What is R-Truth's net worth? R-Truth is a respected name in the pro-wrestling business, who has rubbed shoulders with the likes of The Rock and The Miz. According to a Times of India report, he has a net worth of $3 million. A large chunk of this comes from his work for the WWE. He used to earn $550,000/year under his old contract. However, he recently signed a new deal with the promotion. Its terms are said to be 'different' from the earlier one. R-Truth also earns money from royalties, merchandise sales and his appearance in WWE 2k25. He also has a clothing line that adds to his wealth. R-Truth is currently feuding with John Cena Earlier this month, Truth announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that his contract with the WWE would not be renewed. This sparked outrage on social media as fans slammed the company and the higher ups for letting him go. Amid this, Truth returned to WWE programming at Money in the Bank and nailed John Cena with a spear and the title belt. This gave Cody Rhodes the chance to hit Cena with Cross Rhodes and get the win. His actions were his way of punishing Cena for humiliating him at Saturday Night's Main Event. Truth will now take on 'The Franchise Player' on the Blue Brand next week.

Is WWE Still Being Run by the Spirit of Vince McMahon?

Is WWE Still Being Run by the Spirit of Vince McMahon? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. WrestleMania 40 featured one of the biggest feel-good moments in WWE history. Cody Rhodes had finally dethroned Roman Reigns for the WWE championship. Triple H was now running the company. This was the beginning of a new era that would lead WWE into a prosperous and fan-friendly future. Advertisement Just over a year later, WWE has squandered much of that goodwill with the fans. The company is still making truckloads of money and is the clear leader in the pro wrestling world. But the public relations department seems to have taken an extended vacation, with several moves taking place that evoke the cutthroat spirit of deposed WWE leader Vince McMahon. R-Truth (Getty) When R-Truth announced on Sunday that WWE was not renewing his contract, many fans thought he must be joking. After all, he had just wrestled John Cena on Saturday Night's Main Event. Truth's fans and co-workers poured out their love and support for the beloved and versatile star, who had just spent 17 years with WWE. Then, the other shoe dropped. Carlito announced that he was also being let go, despite appearing every week on TV as a member of The Judgment Day. Truth is 53 and Carlito is 46, and they can't be employed as wrestlers forever. But the timing and optics are terrible. Also, with the release of Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, and several other wrestlers last month, we seem to be back in the Vince McMahon days when wrestlers and staff members are expendable and dropped from the payroll just to please the WWE (now TKO) shareholders. Advertisement Another example of WWE acting like the old days its aggressive tactics in counterprogramming AEW pay-per-views. WWE scheduled three shows on the weekend on Double or Nothing and will do the same in July against All In Texas. When AEW moved the All In start time to the afternoon, WWE scheduled the Great American Bash head-to-head! It all looks bad. WWE management is not acting like the confident leaders of the pro wrestling world. Instead, they are putting profits before people and acting like they are scared of any real competition. We'll see if they can right the ship or whether they continue to waste the goodwill they have built since WrestleMania 40.
