There's a brand new Dyson Airwrap that's so much more advanced than the original and here's what it can do

Dyson's latest launch for its ultra-premium haircare range is the Airwrap Co-anda 2x multi-styler and dryer – and this thing really can do it 6-in-1 tool can replace several heated appliances and be used to dry, curl, wave, straighten, smooth and volumise, all without heat damage. It features the company's most powerful hair care motor, the Hyperdymium 2, which spins up to 150,000rpm. In real-world terms this means you can expect a lot more air pressure. Indeed, it has twice as much air pressure according to Dyson, which will enable hair to be dried and styled in super quick time. I was super impressed when I tested the Dyson Supersonic r – still the best hairdryer I've ever used – and now with the upgrade of the motor, it looks like the Airwrap Co-anda 2x will offer the same (or even better) drying experience, but with the option to use a a styler too. At £580 (around $799), it's certainly an investment buy, but I can still see it being very popular indeed. It's confirmed as coming to the UK, but it hasn't been announced officially for the US as yet. Using RFID-enabled attachments, the Airwrap Co-anda 2x multi-styler and dryer will automatically adjust to the attachments you add, which makes styling a whole lot easier. I also like that when you connect to the MyDyson app, you can enjoy the one-touch i.d. curl technology, which is a curling sequence customised for your hair – again, good hair days made easy. For all hair types You can choose between Straight+Wavy and Curly+Coily sets when buying an Airwrap2x in the UK, both come with six attachments in a Dyson-designed presentation case. The Straight+Wavy set comes with 2x 30mm Co-anda curling barrel, 40mm Co-anda curling barrel, Anti-snag loop brush, Round volumising brush, AirSmooth attachment and Fast dryer. The Curly + Coily set comes with 2x 40mm Co-anda curling barrel, 40mm Co-anda curling barrel, Anti-snag loop brush, Tension comb, Wave+Curl diffuser and Fast dryer. The Dyson Airwrap2x multi-styler and dryer will come in Ceramic Pink and Jasper Plum colourways and I'll bring you a full review as soon as I can.

Dyson just dropped a new Airwrap with a game-changing straightening attachment

There's a new Airwrap in town. The Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x brings some massive changes to Dyson's existing line of hair styling products, adding a straightening attachment and custom app-compatibility, all within a lighter and more powerful design. Launching July 1st and available for purchase on July 8th at the Dyson Airwrap Coanda 2x retails for $699.99 in the U.S. and £599.99 in the U.K. markets. For the price, you'll get six attachments with purchase, and they're all RFID-enabled to automatically adjust airflow and temperature for optimal performance when you switch your styler. Best of all, the new straightening attachment uses the same wet-to-dry styling tech that Dyson pioneered with its Airstrait, but in a significantly more compact frame. We'll be testing the Co-anda 2x in the weeks to come, but here's everything we know about Dyson's latest drop. "Dyson has developed a new motor for our new Airwrap2x, which spins at 150,000rpm, delivering twice the air pressure, faster drying, and less heat damage. The high pressure creates a longer-lasting curl or straighter styles." Perhaps the biggest game-changer in this styling tool is its new Hyperdymium 2 motor, which delivers twice the air pressure as the original model, and 30% more power for speedy and sleek styling. One of my favorite features of the Airwrap is its low noise levels, and Dyson claims that the new Hyperdymium motor will double the air pressure while maintaining the same noise levels as the original Airwrap. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Using precision engineering, the motor can spinup to 150,000rpm, or nine times faster than a Formula 1 car engine. Available in either a Straight / Wavy or Curly / Coily configuration, the Airwrap2x can be used to dry, curl, wave, straighten, smooth, and add volume with its complete range of attachments. As someone with curly hair, I'm particularly excited to use the diffuser, although the genius addition of a wet-to-dry straightening attachment could end up replacing my beloved Dyson Airstrait. Better yet, the brand uses new Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) which will automatically adjust your settings to suit each attachment to your styling needs, and deliver optimal results for all hair types. We got hands-on with Dyson's AI styling tech when we tested the Airwrap i.d., and while our writer Erin initially thought it was total overkill, she quickly realised that while it's not an essential feature, the ability to learn how to use your styling tool from an app, as opposed to YouTube videos or Reddit, is a win. "It's about creating exciting, long-lasting styles using smarter, more efficient technology." The Airwrap2x uses one-touch i.d. curl technology to allow users to customize their own styling sequence. In effect, this means it will tell you how long to spend on styling each curl, and when to switch to a cold shot to lock in your style. I never thought the Airwrap was too heavy, but I'm not complaining that Dyson has made it even lighter and more maneuverable. The only downside from what I can see, is the astonishingly high price. We'll be testing the Airwrap2x in the weeks to come, but in the meantime, shoppers can sign up for pre-sale now at ahead of its release in stores on July 8th.

Delhi's Saket court ramping up security after June 6 murder of undertrial

New Delhi The Saket district court in Delhi. (Archive) The Saket district court is ramping up its security, including the installation of integrated security equipment, at key entry points, after an undertrial was beaten to death by other inmates on June 6. In a circular on Monday, principal district and sessions judge Shail Jain said security is being boosted in line with a Delhi high court order of November 24, 2021. Work commenced on June 13 and is expected to be completed by June 30, when summer vacation ends. Currently, two gates are closed and entry is permitted through a single point. People aware of the development told HT besides new-generation X-ray baggage scanners and additional door-frame metal detectors, boom barriers and steel bollards were being installed at entry gates to supplement the existing infrastructure. 'Baggage scanners, with more advanced technology, are being installed at all three gates. Additional door-frame detectors are also being added. Two new security features—boom barriers and bollards to regulate traffic movement—are a first,' an official with the court's security cell said. The Saket court complex has six entry gates—four for pedestrians, advocates, and judicial officers, and two dedicated exclusively to judges and jail vans. Current security protocols include RFID-enabled vehicle access for lawyers and routine frisking of entrants by security personnel. The intensified security push comes after a series of attacks and murders of undertrials and accused at Delhi courts. In November 2021, the high court issued a series of directions to the judiciary and Delhi Police for a comprehensive overhaul of security protocols, after gangster Jitender Mann alias Gogi was gunned down inside the Rohini court complex by rivals who had disguised themselves as lawyers. Both attackers were gunned down, but the incident raised security concerns in Delhi courts. The Saket court's security came under fire in April 2023, when a 40-year-old woman was shot at three times by a suspended advocate outside the lawyers' block. The incident had triggered widespread concern about the lack of robust security mechanisms in place. On June 6, 24-year-old undertrial Aman Poddar was killed inside the court's lock-up, allegedly by inmates with whom he had a personal enmity. A preliminary inquiry by the principal sessions judge flagged major lapses, including the failure to segregate rival prisoners and an inexplicably delayed police response to the assault. The report noted that a constable posted outside the lock-up took at least 20 seconds to unlatch the door as the assault unfolded, which continued for nearly a minute. An internal probe was also launched against personnel of the Delhi Police's Third Battalion for failing to identify and separate the rival inmates, as required by the protocol. Senior members of the Saket Bar Association acknowledged that while security upgrades have been taking place on the high court's directives, the recent lock-up killing acted as a catalyst. 'Several meetings were held between the principal sessions judge and Bar leaders to chart out a more advanced security layout,' a senior member of the association said. The security official cited above said: 'So far, we have received only some tools, but plans are in place to install under-vehicle surveillance systems (UVSS) at the entry gates. These systems will allow us to scan the undercarriages of vehicles belonging to advocates and staff. More Delhi Police personnel will also be requisitioned to manage the enhanced system.' Narendra Sharma, vice-president of the Saket Court Bar Association, said, 'Security tools are being procured periodically by the court administration. Security audits are also underway, and fresh measures are adopted whenever a more stringent approach is deemed necessary.'
