Across the city's four zones, unresolved sanitation-related grievances amount to 5,526 complaints. The engineering department of the civic body has 5,961 outstanding sewerage complaints awaiting resolution. Moreover, there are 2,221 unaddressed complaints about road sweeping operations. The engineering department also has a backlog of 7,712 complaints regarding development works. On Wednesday, MCG constituted a grievance redressal cell to address complaints received across various govt platforms. "We have constituted a grievance redressal cell. It will focus only on resolving these complaints and minimising the pendency in redressal," said a senior MCG official. The newly formed cell will be headed by MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya and will have additional commissioner Ravinder Yadav, joint commissioner Vishal, deputy town planner Siddharth S Khandelwal and MCG expert Anita Phalswal as members. Meanwhile, according to residents, one of the causes for an increasing number of complaints is delay in appointing an agency for drain cleaning. "We have filed several complaints on these issues, but they remain unaddressed. Moreover, the civic body is yet to initiate tenders for drain cleaning across the city. As the monsoon approaches, these complaints are likely to shoot up," said Kundan Lal Sharma, general secretary of Sector 21 RWA.

'The idea is not only to respond but to ensure that public faith in civic functioning improves substantially,' an official said. The cell is also expected to help track recurring complaints across wards and enable long-term fixes, especially related to sanitation, encroachments, water supply, and civic infrastructure.

Gurgaon MCG forms cell to monitor waste pickup, sweeping

Gurgaon: MCG on Monday constituted a cell to supervise sanitation related work in the city. The cell will monitor door-to-door waste collection, road sweeping, management of legacy waste at Bandhwari landfill site and handling of construction and demolition (C&D) waste. Additional commissioner Ravinder Yadav was designated as the cell's nodal officer to oversee operations. The cell also includes consultants and a team of data entry operators who will handle daily monitoring and reporting duties. "The cell will oversee multiple sanitation aspects, including doorstep waste collection, road sweeping, identification of vulnerable waste points, and monitoring of bulk waste generators. It will also supervise waste transportation to the Bandhwari site and construction waste management," said a senior MCG official. The cell's responsibilities include GPS tracking, media monitoring, and analysis of complaints received through multiple platforms and data analysis for identifying operational issues related to vehicles, workforce, and resources. The cell will submit its reports to MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya. TOI reported on June 19 that MCG spent nearly Rs 290 crore on sanitation since the solid waste environment exigency programme (SWEEP) was implemented in Gurgaon from June 12, 2024, to June 1, 2025. Despite that, garbage dumps still pockmark the city, and construction and demolition waste lines roadsides in pockets. Waste collection and processing are still marked by ad hocism. The corporation has not been able to meet National Green Tribunal-set targets to clear legacy waste from the Bandhwari landfill or find an alternative site. Moreover, an additional 15 operators were appointed to strengthen the city's sanitation monitoring system. MCG officials said that these operators demonstrated coordination between sanitation and engineering departments through the call centre during recent heavy rainfall to address the waterlogging issues.

Corporation employees seek pay hike, protest use of waste management portal for attendance in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: Pushing for job security, fair wages and better working conditions, the Haryana Municipal Employees Union submitted a 21-point charter of demands to MCG additional commissioners Yash Jaluka and Ravinder Yadav on Tuesday. The union has strongly opposed the use of the Solid Waste Management (SWM) portal for marking attendance and called for withdrawal of the "no work, no pay" rule. Currently, sanitation workers' attendance is marked through the SWM portal, and their salaries are calculated based on the days they log in. TOI had reported on April 19 that a review meeting revealed that 932 of the 5,066 registered sanitation workers were not regularly marking attendance on the portal, raising concerns about payment delays and job insecurity. "During our meeting, union representatives outlined various challenges affecting municipal workers and sought swift solutions. We provided a patient hearing and gave assurances regarding the consideration and resolution of staff demands to the extent feasible," said Ravinder Yadav. Among the major demands were the abolition of contractual hiring for sanitation and sewer work, and the conversion of all such positions into permanent posts. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Device Made My Power Bill Drop Overnight elecTrick - Save upto 80% on Power Bill Pre-Order Undo The union also urged the corporation to formulate a clear policy to regularise the services of daily wage workers, contract workers, and those hired under the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN). Other demands included raising the temporary staff salary to Rs 27,000, reinstating terminated employees, re-hiring retrenched workers, and bringing fire services under MCG control. Workers also sought risk compensation, an equal pay policy, restoration of the old pension scheme, Rs 10 lakh in gratuity, better leave allowances, staff housing, and promotions for qualified sanitation staff.
