Elton John risks fuelling Beckham family 'feud' with message to godson Brooklyn

More info Sir Elton John has seemingly waded into the Beckham family dynamics by publicly paying tribute to his godson Brooklyn Beckham and his wife, Nicola. Brooklyn, 26, posted a romantic social media post, marking five years since he and Nicola, 30, got engaged - which prompted a heartfelt response from Sir Elton. The Rocket Man singer, who is also godfather to Romeo Beckham, tagged the couple and wrote: "Happy Anniversary to the sweetest, most loving couple," accompanied by red heart emojis. A long-time friend of the Beckhams, Sir Elton has been a constant presence in the family's life and is affectionately referred to as Uncle Elton by their children. His Instagram post comes in the wake of a rumoured dispute between some members of the Beckham family and Brooklyn and Nicola, who recently bought a large home in Los Angeles. While none of the family have publicly spoken about the speculated issues, Brooklyn and Nicola have been notably absent from various milestone family events this year, in particular David's 50th birthday celebrations in May, and his long-awaited knighthood from King Charles this month. Brooklyn did not respond to David's father's day message last month, which said: "I will always be there, no matter what" alongside snaps of the whole family, including Victoria, Brooklyn, and his younger siblings Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 13. He added: "My most important & favourite job in life is being a dad... I'm so proud of all of you and like daddy (sorry boys) tells you every single day I will always be here for you no matter what... "Mummy thank you for doing the most important part and making me a father there is no greater gift in life than making me a dad... Happy Father's Day... I love you kiddies more than you could imagine." On Monday, Brooklyn's younger brother, Cruz, appeared to aim a dig at his sibling after a follower asked on TikTok: "Are you going to stick with this job or going to become a race car driver next or something?" Cruz was quick to retort with: "Wrong brother, mate." The cheeky remark from Cruz comes after fans have poked fun at Brooklyn for changing his career ambitions over the years, from wanting to become a photographer, to developing a passion for cooking.

The former aspiring photographer, 26, and his socialite wife, 30, recently celebrated five years since they got engaged with gushing social media posts. Along with a photo of the two looking lovey-dovey, Brooklyn wrote: "It's been 5 years since I asked this beautiful woman to marry me xx best decision ever x I love you so much." Many celebrated the pair's huge milestone in the comment section, including Sir Elton - who is godfather to Brooklyn and Romeo. The iconic singer tagged the couple and wrote: "Happy Anniversary to the sweetest, most loving couple," along with a few red heart emojis. Elton has been close friends with Posh Spice for three decades and famously made a quick cameo in the 1997 Spice World movie. Victoria once revealed she was inspired to leave the Spice Girls by Elton in an emotional letter she wrote to her future self, stating watching him made her realise singing and dancing wasn't for her. However, the once close-knit family are currently embroiled in a feud centred around Brooklyn and Nicola, who recently purchased a huge home in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles. In recent months, their marriage has been plagued by an ongoing feud with his famous relatives, with mum Victoria Beckham and dad David said to be at their wits' end over the tension. On Monday, Brooklyn's younger brother, Cruz, took a swipe at his sibling after being grilled over Brooklyn's multiple career attempts. One follower asked Cruz under his TikTok video of him playing the guitar: "Are you going to stick with this job or going to become a race car driver next or something?" they asked in the comment section. Cruz was quick to retort with: "Wrong, brother, mate." Cruz is known to post cryptic posts on social media. It comes after a source close to the couple told the Mirror that actress Nicola is feeling "attacked" by "false claims" that are being made against her.

MPs vote to continue parliamentary ping-pong over AI ‘theft' crackdown
Conservative shadow science minister Dr Ben Spencer, who described himself as a 'Bill Murray fan', called on the Government to 'bring an end to this Groundhog Day'. Peers agreed on Monday to amend the Government's Data (Use and Access) Bill. Their proposal would force the Government to prepare fresh legislation which would open up AI model databases, so that copyright owners could see whether their works have been used as 'data inputs'. But MPs voted 317 to 185, majority 132, on Tuesday to reject the amendment and continue the battle at Westminster, known as parliamentary ping-pong. Rocket Man singer Sir Elton John is among the stars who have urged the Government to strengthen copyright protections, when he said last month that ministers are 'absolute losers' and that he felt 'incredibly betrayed'. Dr Spencer told the Commons: 'Copyright law is a toothless instrument if the lack of transparency about the use of create content in AI models continues. 'The lack of transparency renders rights enforcement elusive, and the Government is apparently happy for this to persist on an open-ended basis.' At the despatch box, he added: 'Creatives continue to lose out when their work is exploited without payment, the AI industry, especially smaller firms, can't get out of the starting blocks let alone play their part in turbocharging our tech economy, and the Government continues to risk the confidence of both key industries with the chilling effect on investment that this entails.' On the stand-off, Dr Spencer told the Commons: 'We're stuck in Groundhog Day in this Bill until the Government realises that the Lords' amendments are not a nuisance but an opportunity, and that they need to listen to the concerns and change course.' Commons culture, media and sport committee chairwoman Dame Caroline Dinenage, the Conservative MP for Gosport, accused Sir Chris of 'dancing on the head of a pin' and added: 'The fact is that all legislation somehow binds those that are coming down the track.' You got plenty to worry about Musk has left the DOGE building. It's hard to say who's happier – Musk himself, or his baiters – but odds are, Vivek Ramaswamy marked the day with a platter of cheese enchiladas. Like taxes and death, Musk's exit was a given. US law allowed him a maximum of 130 days, and he left with one remaining. As an EV maker, he knows the importance of reserve charge. And range anxiety is a terrible thing. You aim to drive $2tn out of the federal budget but stall at $160bn. That's 8% mission accomplished. Poor, but better than a hat-trick of SpaceX's Starship failures in five months. So, Musk should pull over and take stock. On the net worth front, allying with Trump has been good for him. Yes, some Teslas were burnt, and Tesla stock nosedived, but it's much higher than at this time last year, and Musk is about $175bn richer than he was at the same time. And while he's leaving after describing Trump's Big Beautiful Bill as disappointing, Trump's not nursing a grudge – 'He will, always, be with us…Elon is terrific.' That means, govt contracts for SpaceX won't dry up, and Lil X can pick his nose in the Oval Office. What Musk should worry about is BYD's fast-charging tech, Tesla's falling sales, bursting Starships, and Neuralink's competition. Nobody will remember Musk as Trump's beancounter, but as 'Rocket Man' – who once went shopping for Russian ICBMs to launch satellites – he has better odds.
