Lorry driver assisting with investigations after accident involving two cars

PHOTO: SCREENSHOT FROM SG ROAD VIGILANTE/ FACEBOOK Lorry driver assisting with investigations after accident involving two cars SINGAPORE – A 39-year-old male lorry driver is assisting the police in investigations following an accident that also involved two cars on Jurong Town Hall Road on June 24. The police said they were alerted to the accident at 9am. Dash cam footage from one of the cars involved, shared by Facebook page SG Road Vigilante, shows the car in the rightmost lane, with the container truck in the lane to its left. The lorry appears to be filtering to the left lane as the vehicle with the dash cam pulls alongside the front of the lorry. A silver car suddenly veers across the front of the truck and strikes the side of the recording vehicle head-on. Two female car drivers aged 41 and 53 were taken conscious to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). SCDF added that it assessed another person for minor injuries and the person declined to be taken to the hospital. Police investigations are ongoing. 41-year-old cyclist dies after accident with car in Singapore's Bugis

The Straits Times first reported about the accident on June 19. The cyclist died the next day, according to the police. The police said they were alerted to the accident at Victoria Street towards Kallang Road at 6.30am that day. In video footage of the accident uploaded on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page, a cyclist can be seen riding across one side of the junction. He appears to be going against a red traffic light. As he crosses the middle of the junction, a car comes into the frame, and the ensuing collision sends him flying off his bicycle. The traffic light for the car changes from yellow to red just before the point of impact. The cyclist was taken unconscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he later died, said the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force. Cyclist taken to hospital after accident with car in Aljunied

PHOTO: SG ROAD VIGILANTE/FACEBOOK Cyclist taken to hospital after accident with car in Aljunied SINGAPORE – A 50-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital after an accident involving a car near the junction of Aljunied Road and Sims Avenu e on June 1. The man w as conscious when taken to T an Tock Seng Hospital, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), who, like the police, were alerted to the accident at around 5.05pm. A video of the incident posted on Facebook shows the cyclist landing on the front of a car and bouncing off it onto the road. It is unclear from the footage whether the cyclist had been struck by the vehicle. In photographs circulating on Facebook, the man is seen with one side of his face covered in blood following the accident. Uniformed officers tend to him as he is seated on a pavement. Two ambulances are parked nearby. Other images show a dark-coloured car with a partially shattered windscreen, possibly from the impact of the crash. Police investigations are ongoing. According to statistics from an open government data portal, 591 cyclists and pillions were injured in road traffic accidents in 2024.
