Congress's history suggests coal was allotted on cigarette wrappers: Union MoS Dubey
Baikunthpur (Chhattisgarh) [India], July 1 (ANI): Launching a scathing attack on the previous Congress-led government in Chhattisgarh, Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey alleged on Tuesday that the history of Congress suggests that the coal was allotted on wrappers of cigarettes. When asked about several officials who had gone to jail for their alleged involvement in a coal scam that surfaced during the rule of the previous Congress government in Chhattisgarh, the Union Minister alleged, 'This is the history of Congress. You may remember that this is the same coal that used to be allotted on cigarette wrappers, and whoever comes first used to get it.' 'Under the Modi government, the tenders are issued only to those who fulfil the criteria and participate in the tendering process, and the work is being done with transparency as well as honesty,' he emphasised. 'Be it Atmanirbhar Bharat, Viksit Bharat, vocal for local or Make in India, all these initiatives point towards one goal of strengthening India,' said Union Minister Dubey, elaborating that this strengthening should have happened long ago, but, the previous governments came and started treating public money as their personal earning. The Union MoS asserted that the Modi government is steadily moving forward with a clear goal, working consistently towards the development and is successfully achieving it. 'Security arrangements in underground mines are being reviewed in a timely manner and ensure the safety of everyone with the employment of modern technologies,' he said. Notably, the Union Minister was on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh and had visited the mines operated by South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). During his visit to the Churcha mines of SECL at Baikunthpur on Tuesday, the minister interacted with the officials and workers of the mine and also inaugurated a mechanical ventilator. On the occasion, the minister closely took stock of the factors impacting the target of coal production and opined that Churcha mines will definitely achieve the target set for coal production. Coal shortages have become a thing of past, says Union minister
New Delhi: The government is promoting modern technologies to boost efficient coal extraction and fuel shortages have become a thing of the past, Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey said on Tuesday. "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, coal shortages have become a thing of the past," Dubey was quoted as saying in a statement. The minister is on a two-day official visit to the operational areas of Coal India arm South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), the statement said. He further said that the coal ministry is actively promoting modern technologies to boost safe and efficient coal extraction and commended SECL for its adoption of cutting-edge equipment. State-owned CIL's coal production dropped by 8.5 per cent to 57.8 million tonnes (MT) in June even as the government aims to increase the output to reduce the dependency on imports. The coal production by the PSU was 63.1 MT in the corresponding month of the previous fiscal, Coal India Ltd (CIL) said in a regulatory filing. The coal output by the PSU in the first three months of the current fiscal also dropped to 183.3 MT, over 189.3 MT produced in the April-June period of the previous financial year. The company, however, did not give a reason for the decline in coal production. PTI

Displacement biggest hurdle in mining area, cooperation from Chhattisgarh Government is very well: Union Minister Satish Dubey
Korba (Chhattisgarh) [India], June 30 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, on his visit to Dipka mines in Chattisgarh highlighted that displacement is the biggest hurdle in mining area and it is not carried out timely, then the target of coal production cannot be achieved. The minister expressed this while visiting Dipka mines of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) on Monday. On the occasion, the minister planted a sapling as a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign and also laid the foundation stone of the security complex. Meanwhile, the minister closely took stock of the works and felicitated the workers of the mines. Speaking to ANI, the minister said that the biggest hurdle in this mining area (referring to Dipka) is displacement, and the Chhattisgarh government is supporting this task very well. The target of coal production cannot be achieved if displacement does not take place timely. Officials have detailed how they are working tirelessly to establish coordination in the displacement of people and ensure their rehabilitation at different places. While visiting Dipka viewpoint, the minister reviewed mine production, productivity and operations, engaging in detailed discussion with officials. Dubey was detailed about the project's progress, production capacity and future plans. 'The target of coal production was less last year because the availability of land was lower. This time, we have adequate land, and this will result in achieving the target and progressing further,' said Dubey. The minister further said that the coal sector has a vital role to play in building an 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat'. Under the visionary leadership of PM Modi, the coal sector has achieved unprecedented progress, where once there were concerns about coal shortages, today, power plants have abundant coal reserves, ensuring uninterrupted energy production. Alongside coal production, special emphasis is being laid on green mining and environmental sustainability. Coal India is also actively working in the domain of critical minerals. SECL's contribution in meeting the nation's energy requirements is highly commendable, and the company is also at the forefront of social responsibility. Upon his arrival in Raipur, the minister paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and they discussed accelerating land acquisition and rehabilitation processes for the expansion of coal projects in Chhattisgarh. Congress has no moral authority to speak on freedom of speech after declaring emergency in the country: Union Minister
The Congress party has no moral authority to speak on democracy and freedom of speech after imposing Emergency in the country while being in power at the Centre 50 years ago, Union Minister of State for Mines and Minerals Satish Chandra Dubey said on Wednesday. Addressing a press conference here at the BJP office, the Union Minister said the declaration of Emergency 50 years ago by the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, would remain as the 'darkest day' in the country. 'People who lived during the days of Emergency in the country still remember the harassment and difficulties they faced at the hands of the Congress. People were illegally detained and put behind bars. The Congress has no right to speak about freedom of speech and democracy,' he said. The Emergency was declared by the Congress to hold on to power, the Minister said adding that the grand-old party would not hesitate to resort to such undemocratic steps, if they came back to power. 'The party is still in the same mindset and will do anything for power and to protect the interests of the dynasty. So, people should keep Congress out of power,' he said. The BJP has decided to observe 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' to remind people of the dark days of Emergency, BJP president and Member of Parliament V. Selvganabathy said. Home Minister A. Namassivayam, Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare A. K. Sai J. Saravanan Kumar were present.
