Four-star defensive lineman Valdin Sone announces commitment
Georgia has earned a commit from another elite defensive lineman. Four-star DL Valdin Sone committed to the Georgia Bulldogs over Florida Gators, Nebraska Cornhuskers and Auburn Tigers. Sone is a four-star recruit from the class of 2026, who reclassified from the class of 2027. The 6-foot-3, 315-pound defensive lineman plays high school football for Blue Ridge School in Dyke, Virginia. He earned a spot on the Navy All-American Bowl alongside Georgia freshman wide receiver Talyn Taylor. Sone has a different path than most recruits. He was born in Sweden and is of Cameroonian descent. He grew up playing soccer while also partaking in ju-jitsu and taekwondo. In April 2024, he helped Sweden win the 2024/25 IFAF European Junior Football championships, earning two sacks and a fumble against Denmark in the championship game. Sone marks Georgia seventh defensive lineman commit and 30th overall commit in Georgia's class of 2026. He joins a defensive line room with four-star PJ Dean and three-stars Corey Howard, Carter Luckie, Preston Carey, and Seven Cloud. Sone is the highest ranked among them as he is the No. 4 defensive line prospect and No. 46 overall prospect in the class of 2026. Sone is Georgia's fifth commit from the month of July. The Bulldogs are continuing the massive hot streak they had from middle-late June, but Georgia has had four recruits in a six-day span. They have the No. 2 recruiting class of 2026 in the nation, just behind USC.

Nebraska misses out on four-star defensive lineman Valdin Sone
One of the top defensive recruits in the class of 2026 announces his college commitment on Friday. Four-star defensive lineman Valdin Sone committed to the Georgia Bulldogs. Sone decided among Nebraska, Auburn, Florida, and Georgia. Sone has seen his profile grow over the past couple of months. He participated in the Navy All-American Bowl, recording a quarterback pressure in the game. The four-star was born in Sweden and is a strong run defender with good size, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 310 pounds. This is obviously a big swing and a miss by the Huskers, but if the current recruiting landscape has taught us anything, it's that nothing is official until National Signing Day. Nebraska's class of 2026 currently holds 12 commitments. The class is ranked No. 58 in the nation and No. 17 in the Big Ten according to On3/Rivals. Top defensive line recruit to announce commitment on Friday
One of the top defensive recruits in the class of 2026 will announce his college commitment on Friday. Four-star defensive lineman Valdin Sone will decide among Nebraska, Auburn, Florida, and Georgia. Sone has seen his profile grow over the past couple of months. He participated in the Navy All-American Bowl, recording a quarterback pressure in the game. The Bulldogs are currently seen as the frontrunners for his commitment. This is a recruit to watch for the Huskers. Defensive line coach Terry Bradden could have a significant impact on this recruitment. The defensive line position certainly has young talent waiting in the wings, and building depth at the position will be important. Nebraska's class of 2026 currently holds 12 commitments. The class is ranked No. 58 in the nation and No. 17 in the Big Ten according to On3/Rivals. 4-star DL recruit Valdin Sone names his top four schools
One of the top uncommitted defensive recruits in the 2026 cycle is nearing a decision. Blue Ridge School (Dyke, Virginia) four-star defensive lineman Valdin Sone will announce his college commitment this July 18. Sone will chose among his top schools which are Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Nebraska. The four-star was born in Sweden and played in the 2025 Navy All-American Bowl. Sone is a strong run defender with good size at 6-foot-4, 310-pounds. Sone has been predicted to come play for Georgia, per Rivals Chad Simmions and Steve Wiltfong. Georgia has been the leader in this recruiting race for quite some time, but these races are never over early signing day in this age of recruiting. Georgia also lost a commitment from five-star defensive lineman James Johnson, so landing Sone is even more critical for the Bulldogs. Georgia currently has seven commitments along the defensive line in the class of 2026, so the Bulldogs would have a pretty crowded defensive line class if they add Sone. Coach Kirby Smart and Georgia are still looking to replace a significant amount of veteran defensive linemen that left via the 2025 NFL draft. The Blue Ridge standout is ranked as the No. 4 player at his position in the nation, per 247Sports. Sone is the No. 46 recruit in the country and the third-best prospect in Virginia.

Auburn football is in the top four for DL Valdin Sone
Auburn remains in a four-team race for Valdin Sone ahead of Friday's announcement. One of the nation's top defensive linemen is set to announce his commitment this week, and Auburn remains in the mix. Valdin Sone, a four-star defensive lineman from Blue Ridge School in Dyke, Virginia, will announce his commitment this Friday, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals. Three SEC schools remain in the mix, with Auburn being included. Hugh Freeze and the Tigers will battle SEC rivals Georgia and Florida, as well as Nebraska, for the right to earn the pledge from the Swedish-born defensive lineman. The Tigers are in Sone's top four, but how high are they on his radar? Sone called Auburn a "top priority" during his official visit to the Plains in May, and told Cole Pinkston of Rivals (subscription required) that his relationship with defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams, as well as Auburn's knack for playing young players on defense, stands out to him. However, projections from On3 and Rivals indicate that the Tigers have work to do if they want to secure the services of the prime defensive lineman. Georgia is the favorite with a 95.6% chance to land Sone, with Florida, Nebraska, and Auburn next in line. Sone is the No. 15 defensive lineman from the 2026 class according to Rivals' industry rating, and the No. 4 player from Virginia.
