Former Spartan Jase Richardson back around program following strong NBA Summer League

The culture at Michigan State basketball is simply different, and former Spartans star Jase Richardson further proved that in the past few days. Richardson just finished up an impressive showing in his first career professional action during the NBA Summer League so what's next for him? Maybe a tropical trip or some other destination before preparing for his rookie season in the NBA? Nope, he's right back at Michigan State. Richardson posted an Instagram picture on Sunday showing he was back at the Spartans' practice facility with a simple comment about his return to East Lansing, Mich. -- "always home." You can see the post from Richardson below: Richardson starred for the Spartans in his lone year of college hoops this past season. As a true freshman, Richardson became the Spartans' top player and helped lead them to a Big Ten title and Elite Eight finish in the NCAA Tournament. That strong play resulted in him being selected by the Orlando Magic in the first round of the NBA Draft last month. Former players and those close to the program always talk about how the culture at Michigan State is different from many other places. This is just another example of how head coach Tom Izzo and others around the Spartans' program always make it a place where former players want to come back to and visit. MSU target, 4-star SG Jasiah Jervis picks up offer from Spartans' rival

Blessed and grateful to receive an offer from the University of Michigan 💙💛 Thank you Coach May 🙏🏾 @umichbball #AGTG The Spartans' top rivals have entered the chase for a big-time shooting guard prospect from the Big Apple. Jasiah Jervis of White Plains, N.Y. announced on Sunday that he has received an offer from the Michigan Wolverines. This is a notable development as Jervis has received an offer from the Spartans in late June and has started to pick up some more steam on the recruiting trail since then. Jervis is a four-star shooting guard prospect in the 2026 class. He holds a recruiting rating of 96.26 in 247Sports composite system, and is listed at 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds. Jervis ranks as the No. 7 shooting guard in 247Sports' rankings for the 2026 class. He is also listed as the No. 61 overall prospect and No. 4 player from New York in the class. Along with his notable offers from Michigan and Michigan State, Jervis has picked up offers from Tennessee, Texas, NC State and Villanova since late May. Prior to that, he received notable offers from Illinois, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Northwestern, Wake Forest, Pitt and St. John's. Michigan State is one of a few Big Ten schools with top 25 QB commitment in 2026 class

Michigan State is one of only a few Big Ten teams that currently holds a commitment from a top 25 quarterback prospect in the 2026 class. All of the Rivals' top 25 quarterback prospects in the 2026 class are now committed, and Michigan State is fortunate enough to have one of the commits in Kayd Coffman. He ranks as the No. 23 quarterback in the Rivals Industry Rankings for the 2026 class, which is fifth among Big Ten commitments in the position. Coffman has been committed to Michigan State since early February and ranks as one of the top commitments in the Spartans' 2026 class. On rivals, he is listed as a four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 6 player from Michigan and No. 237 overall prospect in the class. Coffman has long been considered a centerpiece of the Spartans' 2026 class so it's no surprise to see him among the top 25 quarterbacks in the class. Should Michigan State hold onto his commitment throughout this fall and sign him in December, he will surely be a big part of the Spartans' future on the gridiron. Phil Steele lists MSU as the No. 10 hardest schedule in Big Ten this year

Toughest to Easiest Big Ten Schedules, per Phil Steele Does Michigan State football play a tough schedule in 2025? Phil Steele believes its one of the more favorable among the Big Ten. Steele has recently released a number of preseason rankings and notes ahead of the 2025 season kicking off next month. The latest to draw some attention was his ranking of schedules from toughest to easiest, which has Michigan State landing in the middle of the Big Ten. Steele ranks the Spartans' schedule as No. 10 among Big Ten teams. The toughest schedule belongs to Wisconsin and the easiest to Nebraska according to Steele. Here's a quick reminder of the Spartans schedule for this year: To me, this slate includes a number of challenges but also isn't anywhere as top heavy as last season. There aren't many "easy wins", though, with essentially nine of the games being considered toss-ups that could go either way. So the ranking of No. 10 among Big Ten teams seems about right to me. Spartans wide receiver Nick Marsh named to Phil Steele All-Big Ten team

One of the Spartans' wide receivers has been named to a popular preseason All-Big Ten list. Phil Steele is back again this year with his preview content for the upcoming college football season, which includes his All-Big Ten teams. Steele has put together four All-Big Ten teams, and Spartans wide receiver Nick Marsh cracked the list. Steele has Marsh on the All-Big Ten fourth team along with DT Sheffield of Rutgers and Ja'Kobi Lane of USC. Marsh -- who has a four-star prospect in the 2024 class -- had a pretty solid freshman season this past year, recording 41 receptions for 649 yards and three touchdowns. He was especially important in two of the Spartans' top wins against Maryland and Iowa as well last season. Marsh is expected to have a big year for the Spartans this upcoming season, so it's not surprising to see him included on Steele's list of top wide receivers from the Big Ten. I personally would have him on one of the higher teams, but also understand he needs to prove it first -- I'm sure he will this upcoming fall.
