Holywell: Owner shares vision for The Burnt Sausage bistro
Stephen (Stevie) Quinn and Lindsey Walton-Quinn, of Holywell, formerly ran the Bakehouse café in Greenfield Valley. And after taking a rest from the eatery trade, they have now picked up the keys for their latest endeavour; The Burnt Sausage, formerly Kassidy's, on Holywell High Street. Stevie, aged 54 and originally of Chester, said: "We're going to be doing nice, local, quirky food in there. Image: Stevie Quinn (Image: Stevie Quinn) "It's going to include traditional sandwiches, breakfasts and flatbreads - and Lindsey will make all the cakes. "We will be able to seat 50 inside and will be open for private parties. "In terms of the name, it was between The Burnt Sausage and The Rusty Kettle - we thought Burnt Sausage stands out. "For anyone who orders the big breakfast, I'm going to do a little chipolata and make it quite toasty." (Image: Stevie Quinn) MORE NEWS Stevie explained how the Bakehouse café wasn't his and Lindsey's first foray into the food industry - as they met while working as touring caterers for worldwide music stars. He said: "Bands and artists I cooked for on tour included Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Coldplay, U2 - I cooked for the bands, the entourage and the production team. "Lindsey's Canadian but we met in New York. She was a caterer too, but she also did logistics on the tours." The couple, supported by their ten-year-old twin girls Ezmay and Rowann, have plenty of work to do in the coming weeks with painting and cleaning. They hope to open the doors at The Burnt Sausage in the next three to four weeks. Image: Stevie Quinn (Image: Stevie Quinn) "A lot of customers who knew us from the Bakehouse are excited," Stevie added. "We're working on the menus now and have our first drafts done. "It's opening as a quirky café bistro, but what it turns into we will have to wait and see!"

Video: Golden Retriever Shows How an ‘Effective Non-Verbal Communication' Looks Like
Anyone who's lived with a dog knows they are excellent at passive-aggressively staring at you until you do what they want. However, some pups skip the drama and go straight for nuance. One video making waves on Instagram proves that with just a flick of the brow, a Golden Retriever can speak volumes, and it's honestly kind of impressive. In a recent video, Stevie, a young Golden Retriever, has gone viral for her surprisingly 'effective non-verbal communication.' In a video uploaded to Instagram, Stevie demonstrates a hilarious and surprisingly clear way of asking for what she wants using only her eyebrows. The video opens with Stevie standing still, focused on something off-camera. As the camera pans, it becomes clear that her attention is fixed on a ball lying nearby. Instead of barking, whining, or pawing at it, Stevie looks at the ball, then at her owner, then back again, each time raising and lowering her eyebrows as if to say, 'You see what I'm seeing, right?' It's subtle, but unmistakable: she wants the ball, and she is asking for it with perfect eyebrow movement. Viewers couldn't stop pointing out how spot-on the Golden Retriever's body language was in the video. One user nailed the moment, commenting, 'The good old 'It's not gonna throw itself!' eyebrow look.' Someone else added, 'Her eyebrow game is stronger than most people's communication skills,' turning the video into a lighthearted commentary on human behavior too. Perhaps the most accurate take came from a fan who wrote, 'She's not demanding but very demanding at the same time.' Understanding and responding to non-verbal cues is a big part of having a strong bond with your pet. Dogs use eye contact, tail movement, and facial expressions to let us know what they need. As such, learning to read those cues can improve communication and reduce frustration for both pet and owner. Whether it's a subtle stare, a tilt of the head, or in Stevie's case, some well-timed eyebrow movement, dogs have more to say than we might think if we're paying attention. Active dog surrendered twice waited for the ‘right family.' Then came good news
An energetic dog was surrendered twice — and waited for the 'right family.' Then a couple drove four hours from Tennessee to meet her in North Carolina. When one of the potential adopters met Stevie the dog, she started singing 'Clara Bow,' a Taylor Swift song with lyrics that inspired the pup's name. 'We then bonded immediately over that and found out we were both Swifties and Stevie Nicks fans,' Siena Sansone, who had been the dog's foster parent, told McClatchy News in a June 22 email. 'She plans to keep Stevie's name because Stevie is a little resilient rockstar and the name just fits.' The Tennessee family adopted the roughly 3-year-old pup after she landed at the Triangle Beagle Rescue of North Carolina in early June. A volunteer had picked her up from a shelter and paid for her to be vaccinated and spayed. 'Stevie's journey hasn't been easy — she was surrendered twice through no fault of her own,' the Raleigh-area rescue wrote in a Facebook post. 'Her last family said she was 'too active,' but really, she's just a young beagle with normal energy levels and a big love for playtime.' Rescuers, who believe Stevie's previous owner was older and may have had trouble keeping up with her, hoped she would end up in the right home this time. She needed a place with a canine friend and a 'secure 6 foot fence because she likes to hunt and chase scents, even if it means leaving her comfy yard,' according to Sansone. 'She's looking for a home that understands young beagles need play, patience, and guidance,' rescuers wrote as she went up for adoption. 'If you're ready for a loyal companion with a bold personality and a love for life, Stevie might just be your girl.' At the rescue, Stevie also became known for running around with squeaky toys and showing off her friendly side. 'She's good with other dogs and especially loves children — if she hears a baby cry on TV, she'll stop everything to investigate, head tilt and all,' rescuers wrote. Then on June 21, the animal organization shared the good news that Stevie got new owners. The family had driven from Tennessee and back, kicking off their next chapter together. 'I am over the moon....,' Sansone wrote. 'She's a special girl and it's such a happy ending on all sides!'

'My mum abandoned us to live in Kenyan hut with toyboy Masai warrior'
Just weeks after meeting on a package holiday in Kenya, British mum Cheryl Thomasgood tied the knot with Masai warrior Daniel Lekimencho. At 34, Cheryl had left behind her quiet life on the Isle of Wight with her two children and second husband for her new lover—but she later lived to regret it. And her son, Stevie Liddington, says the abrupt decision tore his life apart and ruined his childhood. The couple met in the early 1990s whilst staying at the Bamburi Beach Hotel in Mombasa and hairdresser Cheryl soon traded in her suburban, comfortable home life to relocate with the Kenyan warrior, 10 years her junior. Earlier this month, Cheryl spoke out about the romance, saying she eventually felt used as a "meal ticket". But expressing her anguish hasn't made up for the torment felt by Stevie, who was just 11 when she left the family home. Speaking to MailOnline, he says he is "ashamed" and "deeply disgusted" by his mother's actions. "She was never the kind of mother who cared about her children's emotional well-being, and even now, decades later, she continues to show who she truly is by dragging this all up again without a thought for the people it hurts," he said. Stevie, who relocated to Seoul, South Korea, with his wife and children, says he hasn't spoken to his mum in 10 years. Meanwhile, his brother, who lives in Canada, also has little contact with their mum, according to the brother. Even before she abandoned them, Stevie's childhood had already been traumatic. His father, Robert Liddington, left when he was four-years-old, resulting in Cheryl experiencing a mental breakdown, MailOnline reports. The brothers were placed into foster care before Cheryl's second husband, Mike Mason, provided stability for the family and looked after them as if they were his own. But his life then shattered into pieces when he received a phone call from his mum saying she was never returning home. Matters were made worse, he says, after she spoke with the press. Children at his school would bring in newspapers and make fun of him after she shared tales of her unconventional romance. She swapped her home comforts to live in a mud hut in rural Kenya, where she lived off cabbage and cow's blood. The couple eventually left Kenya behind in 1995 so she could return to the Isle of Wight, and three years later, they had a daughter, Mitsi. They tied the knot on Valentine's Day, both wearing traditional Masai clothing. But when she reportedly would go missing for days, it was Stevie who was left to look after his half-sister. He remembers praying that she was still alive as he walked around the local neighbourhood for hours trying to search for her. Stevie claims that his mum's relationship with Daniel was "violent" and that he cannot forgive Cheryl for what she did, having firmly closed the door shut at any opportunity for a reconciliation, adding that she should "never have been a mother". Four years after marrying, Cheryl and Daniel split in 1999, with the mum citing that the spiritual warrior "turned into a miserable sod". She claimed her third husband changed whilst living in the UK, and became "obsessed" with wealth. And now three decades later, the mum-of-three, now 65, has opened up about her regretful past. "I made a huge mistake, it was very wrong of me, and I have a lot of regrets, especially about how it damaged my children," she told the Mail. She added: "Daniel was trying his best, but he could never understand the Western ways and couldn't be the dad that they needed." She maintains that there is "one good thing" to come of their difficult romance, which is their daughter Mitsi. Following their relationship breakdown, Daniel remained on the island, where he now works in a supermarket.

His father, Robert Liddington, had left the home when he was five-years-old, which saw Cheryl spiral into a mental breakdown. Stevie and his younger brother were temporarily placed in foster care after they "saw things no child should ever witness" - including Cheryl holding a knife to her own neck, Stevie claimed. Stevie's trauma only deepened after the case sparked a media frenzy, which he claimed his mother loved to fuel. He said: "At school, classmates brought in newspapers to laugh at me. Teachers stood by or laughed along. I was publicly humiliated. "And where was Cheryl? Chasing cameras. Giving interviews. Writing a book. She didn't ask how we were. She didn't check in. Our family crumbled." He refuted her expressions of regret and said she'd never taken accountability properly. The web designer claimed her comments were filled with lies, including the impression Daniel was loved by the kids. He dubbed Cheryl's relationship with the warrior as "violent" and "chaotic". Cheryl and Daniel welcomed a daughter together, Misti, in 1998. But Stevie said he was often left to look after his half-sister, when Cheryl would go missing for days. Stevie revealed Misti and Cheryl are still in contact with each other and there is no bad blood. His brother, who relocated to Canada, also has an on-and-off relationship with Cheryl.
