Drug peddler held, opium worth Rs 70 lakh seized
Chatra: Police have arrested a 19-year-old drug peddler Santosh Kumar and seized 23.35 kg opium worth Rs 70 lakh from his possession based on a crackdown based on a tip off, it announced on Friday. Two arrested with brown sugar in Chatra
Chatra: Two individuals were arrested with a consignment of brown sugar worth Rs 60 lakh near a football ground in Giddhaur block headquarters on Sunday. Police also seized an electronic weighing machine and five mobile phones of different companies from the spot. Based on a tip-off received by Chatra SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal, the team of Gidhaur police, formed under the leadership of Simaria SDPO Shubham Kumar Khandelwal, arrested the smugglers by conducting a raid near the football ground. However, the mastermind of the gang whom the police refused to name managed to escape from the spot. Police are conducting raids to arrest him. The arrested accused are Abhimanyu Kumar Saw, a resident of Gidhaur Teli Tola, and Nitesh Kumar, alias Triveni, alias Veni, a resident of Naukadih village of Jogiara under Pratappur police station limits. Agarwal said that during the police operation, the mastermind of the gang managed to escape from the spot. He said that the absconding smuggler has been identified. The team is continuously raiding all possible hideouts for his arrest.

Interdist smuggler held
Chatra: Giddhaur police arrested a smuggler of Khunti with 2.225 kg of opium near Bariatu on Chatra-Hazaribagh main road on Wednesday. The arrested smuggler has been identified as Sukhram Hassa Purti (22) of Sarvada Kevra village of Murhu police station area of Khunti district. Sources said Chatra SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal received a tip off that a smuggler is active in the Bariatu area on Chatra-Hazaribagh road. After the information, a raid team was formed under the leadership of Simaria sub divisional police officer Shubham Khandelwal. After this, the raid was conducted and thesmuggler was arrested with 2.225 kg of opium, a mobile and a backpack. The arrested youth was sent to judicial custody after an FIR was lodged under the NDPS Act against him.

Chatra drug manufacturing unit busted, 1 held
Chatra: A brown sugar manufacturing unit operating from a house at Kumhar Toli village under Pathalgada block was busted late Wednesday night. The woman, who owned the house, was arrested. The arrested woman was identified as Madhu Kumari, police added. Chatra SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal said, "Acting on a tip-off, a team raided the house of Madhu Kumari, the wife of Udesh Kumar Dangi. She was arrested with 3.821kg brown sugar, 2.784kg opium, 1.019kg white powder, four bottles of acetyl chloride, an electronic weighing machine, a rubber bundle (weighing 0.130 kg), Rs. 23.6 lakh, two mobile phones, and other raw materials." The arrested revealed the names of the two persons — Roshan Kumar Dangi and Arun Dangi — who ran the illegal business. She was sent to judicial custody. Raids are under way to nab the two, the SP added.

Abducted clerk rescued, hunt to nab culprits underway
1 2 3 Chatra: A 35-year-old clerk (Munshi) of a private construction company, who was abducted by armed criminals on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday from the site of an under-construction bridge, was rescued by the police on Monday. Chatra SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal said Dharmendra Gupta was rescued from Hazaribag, but refused to divulge further details saying raids were underway arrest the kidnappers. Gupta, police sources said, was abducted from the site of an under-construction bridge over Purvaiya River at Balbal under Giddhaur police station limits. The bridge is being built by a private company for the rural works department. The miscreants robbed two CCTV cameras, 14 mobile phones, two helmets and other items. The miscreants, bike borne and armed, had hid their faces with towels, labours in the construction site told the police. At first, they dismantled the CCTV cameras and took away the mobiles and other belongings. They forced Gupta to sit on one of their bikes and drove off, the labours told the police on Saturday. Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar Agarwal said, "He has been recovered safely Hazaribag district. I can't say anything more at this moment as raids are ongoing in this regard."
