Rosmerta bags ₹167 crore Maharashtra project to build 10 automated driving test tracks
Rosmerta Group , a homegrown mobility solutions provider, has secured a ₹166.69 crore Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) contract from the Maharashtra government to develop 10 Automated Driving Testing Tracks (ADTTs) across key districts in the state. The five-year project further cements Rosmerta's position as a national leader in contactless, AI-powered driving test infrastructure . The ADTTs will be set up in Sindhudurg, Sangli, Akluj, Osmanabad, Jalna, Hingoli, Yavatmal, Wardha, Bhandara, and Gadchiroli. These facilities will use advanced video analytics, facial recognition, and AI-based decision systems to ensure unbiased, transparent, and real-time evaluation of driver performance — eliminating the need for human intervention. Surakshit Safar' mission Rosmerta's system supports advanced features including reverse-S parking, slope tracking, and night-time driving simulations. The company has already conducted over 1.6 million automated driving tests and currently operates 12 government-run ADTTs in Delhi. 'This project marks a milestone in modernising India's road safety infrastructure . Maharashtra is taking a leadership role in building digital infrastructure that will contribute to safer roads,' said Kartick Nagpal, President of Rosmerta Group. The initiative aligns with the Centre's 'Surakshit Safar' mission, aimed at reducing road accidents through stricter and tech-driven driver assessments. By setting up these tracks in Tier 2 and Tier 3 locations, the government also aims to make testing more accessible, while improving the quality and credibility of driving licences issued.

Centre launches road safety education drive targeting 30 crore students
NEW DELHI: The Central government want to build a socially sensitive, aware generation, and for this, every student need to participate in spreading awareness and responsibility, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday. He emphasised that the participation of the younger generation is crucial in creating a safer and cleaner India. "The Central government is making several efforts to reduce pollution and road mishaps in the capital. But to tackle these problems effectively, children like you need to show social responsibility and awareness," Gadkari said while speaking at the launch of the road safety learning module ' Surakshit Safar ' at Kendriya Vidyalaya 2 here. "The future belongs to hydrogen. We should aim to become an energy-exporting country rather than an importer," he added. "The younger generation's involvement is essential to building a safer and cleaner India," the Union Minister stressed, urging children to actively contribute to reducing pollution and road accidents. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also highlighted the importance of road safety, stating that the NCERT is working on a new curriculum and textbooks focused on road safety. He said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Education are increasing their efforts to spread awareness about road safety. He added that the 30 crore students are the key to shaping a road-safe nation, and it's critical that they understand the fundamentals of road safety. "Educational content on the topic will soon be prepared for students from Class 1 to Class 12," Pradhan said. "As our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, believes, road safety is a crucial issue that needs to become a people's movement. We are working in line with his vision," he added. SIAM Executive Director Prashant K. Banerjee, who also addressed the gathering, highlighted that road safety remains a major hurdle in India's development and called for a generational change to ensure lasting impact.

Include audio-visual road safety modules for students of Class I to Class XII: Pradhan to NCERT
NEW DELHI: In a bid to educate future drivers and road users, education minister on Tuesday directed NCERT and his ministry to include audio-visual modules on road safety for students of Class I to Class XII. 'Road safety cannot be an optional subject...I am directing the education ministry and NCERT to prepare audio-visual modules on road safety for age and class appropriate courses for students. We should start this from the current academic year,' he said at the launch of road safety learning module 'Surakshit Safar' for school students. Road transport minister also attended the event. Pradhan said around 25 crore students are studying in schools in India and they can play a key role in self education and creating awareness about road safety. He added that NCERT is developing some textbooks on road safety and this must be made a course curriculum. Speaking at the event, Gadkari said India recorded five lakh crashes last year, which killed 1.8 lakh people and left over three lakh injured. He added that over 10,000 lives are lost around schools and educational institutions. He suggested that school entry and exit points should be made safer. Gadkari added that the govt has introduced several rules such as mandatory wearing of rear seat belts, and these habits should be taught early in childhood. 'I would request students to advise their parents against using mobile phones while driving, and encourage responsible behaviour on roads,' he said.

SIAM and KVS launch National Road Safety Education Programme for school students
The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers ( SIAM ), in collaboration with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan ( KVS ), has launched a nationwide online road safety education programme aimed at school students. The initiative is being carried out under the guidance of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Education . Curriculum-integrated modules for road safety education The programme will be implemented in 1,253 Kendriya Vidyalayas and it will deliver six interactive digital modules tailored to different school levels—Foundational, Middle, and Senior Secondary. These modules address key topics such as basic road safety, pedestrian awareness, seatbelt and helmet usage, road rules, safe travel practices, and legal aspects. The programme is part of SIAM's 'Surakshit Safar' (Safe Journey) initiative and supports the broader aim of promoting responsible road behaviour through early education. It follows a successful pilot run at Kendriya Vidyalaya, R.K. Puram in October 2024. Based on positive feedback from educators and students, SIAM has developed a web-based Learning Management System (LMS) to integrate road safety sessions into school curricula. Prashant K Banerjee , Executive Director, SIAM, said, "We, at SIAM, are eager to join hands with all teachers and students to restore the glorious identity of India, and we believe this is possible through the support of young builders gathered here today. As India's infrastructure transforms and the nation moves towards the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, it proudly stands as the third-largest automobile market in the world.
