ICC Women's Players Rankings: India, England cricket stars make major gains

The ongoing ODI series between India and England, currently tied at 1-1, has resulted in ranking improvements for players from both teams. Deepti's unbeaten 62 in the first ODI helped India successfully chase England's target of 259 runs. Deepti's subsequent unbeaten 30 in the second ODI, despite the loss, propelled her up 10 positions to number 23 in the ICC Women's ODI Batting Rankings. Alice Davidson-Richards climbed 40 spots to position 118 following her impressive 53-run innings. India's Smriti Mandhana retained her top position with scores of 28 and 42 in the first two matches, maintaining a rating of 727. In bowling rankings, Sophie Ecclestone strengthened her leading position. She captured four wickets in the series, including a match-winning 3/27 in the second ODI. Her rating increased from 747 to 776, extending her lead over Australians Ashleigh Gardner and Megan Schutt. Finger spinners have been dominant in the series. England's Charlie Dean and India's Sneh Rana each took three wickets. In the all-rounder rankings, Dean joined Australia's Ellyse Perry at 14th place. Ecclestone's quick 23 runs off 19 balls in the first ODI and her four wickets helped her rise three places to 18th position. The ICC Women's T20I Rankings saw Irish players improve after their victory over Zimbabwe in the series opener. Captain Gaby Lewis advanced five places to 18th in the batting rankings after scoring 67 runs off 49 balls in Ireland's successful chase of 118. In T20I bowling, Arlene Kelly and Cara Murray played key roles in limiting Zimbabwe to 117/9. Kelly moved up two spots to 23rd position, while Murray advanced four places to 48th. Headingley display helps Duckett attain career-best Test ranking

England opener Ben Duckett has reached a career-best eighth position in the ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings after his outstanding performance in the opening match of the ICC World Test Championship series against India at Headingley in Leeds. The 30-year-old left-hander scored 62 runs in the first innings and 149 in the second, contributing significantly to England's victory by five wickets on the final day. His impressive performance earned him the Player of the Match award and propelled him five spots higher in the latest weekly rankings update, which saw several batters making notable gains. Ollie Pope, who scored a century in the first innings, has moved up three places to 19th position while Jamie Smith is at a career-best 27th position, his scores of 40 and 44 lifting him eight places. Fast bowler Josh Tongue has galloped in the bowling rankings, up 16 places to 64th after grabbing seven wickets in the match, while captain Ben Stokes has gained one slot to be 49th among bowlers and up three places to fifth among all-rounders after picking a total of five wickets and scoring 53 runs in two innings. India ended on the losing side but the four batters notching centuries have all gained. Vice-captain Rishabh Pant's twin-centuries have lifted him one place to seventh position, captain Shubman Gill is back in the top 20, K.L. Rahul has moved up 10 places to 38th while opener Yashasvi Jaiswal retains fourth position reaching a career-best 851 rating points. The drawn Galle Test also sees some notable gainers among batters from the Sri Lanka and Bangladesh sides. Career bests for Najmul and Nissanka: Former Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim has gained 11 places to reach 28th position after scores of 163 and 49, present captain Najmul Hossain Shanto's twin-centuries help him gain a whopping 21 places to reach a career-best 29th position and Shadman Islam has moved from 58th to 55th. Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka's first innings knock of 187 has helped him advance 21 places to a career-best 31st position. In the bowling rankings, spinner Nayeem Hasan is up to 48th from 54th after picking six wickets in the match including a five-wicket haul in the first innings, Hasan Mahmud has gone from 59th to 54th while Sri Lanka's Milan Rathnayake has advanced 17 places to 69th. ICC Men's T20I Player Rankings: The ICC Men's T20I Rankings see Michael Levitt of the Netherlands attain a career-best 14th position, thanks to scores of 90 against Scotland and 86 against Nepal, in a tri-series in Scotland. Scotland players George Munsey (up two places to 23rd) and Brandon McMullen (up 20 places to 38th) have also moved up the batting rankings while Mark Watt of Scotland (up two places to 38th) and Lalit Rajbanshi of Nepal (up 29 places to 54th) have progressed among bowlers.

Brits records career-bests in ICC Women's T20I and ODI Rankings

South Africa opener Tazmin Brits is at career-best positions in both the ICC Women's T20I and ODI Batting Rankings after a superb run on a tour of the West Indies. The 34-year-old has attained a career-best-equalling sixth position in the ICC Women's T20I Batting Rankings and a career-best 21st position in the ICC Women's ODI Batting Rankings after the latest weekly update. Brits finished with 132 runs in the three-match T20I series, which included a match-winning 98 not out off 63 balls in the first match, to gain two spots. She had reached sixth position for the first time in January last year and held on to the spot for most of the period till November. Brits has also moved up six positions in the ODI Rankings after a match-winning 101 in the last match of a preceding three-ODI series against the West Indies to help win it 2-1. The T20I Rankings also saw Brits's team-mate Annerie Dercksen move up in the batting rankings, to 79th from 87th, while left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba has progressed six spots to joint-eighth position in the bowling rankings after finishing with three wickets in the series. For the West Indies, captain Haley Matthews has attained a career-best 770 rating points to reduce the gap with Beth Mooney (794) by five points at the top of the T20I Batting Rankings. Matthews was named the Player of the Series after she scored 147 runs and got two wickets in the three matches. Chinelle Henry (up three places to 86th) is another West Indies player to gain in the T20I Batting Rankings while leg-spinner Afy Fletcher has moved up three places to 12th with five wickets in the series. In the ODI Bowling Rankings, South Africa players Marizanne Kappe (up two places to seventh), Mlaba (up three places to 20th) and Masabata Klaas (up six places to joint-37th) have made notable gains while the West Indies off-spinner Karishma Ramharack has moved up one slot to 25th position.

KUWAIT CITY, June 12: The Kuwait Cricket Board is proud to announce that the Kuwait National Men's Cricket Team has been officially invited to participate in the world-renowned Hong Kong Sixes 2025 — also known globally as the Hong Kong Super Sixes. This thrilling and fast-paced international tournament will take place from 31st October to 2nd November 2025 in Hong Kong. With Kuwait currently ranked 23rd in the ICC Men's T20I Rankings, this invitation is a huge endorsement of the nation's rapid rise and performance on the international cricketing stage. The Hong Kong Sixes — which made a spectacular return in 2024 — is one of the most entertaining formats in cricket, featuring a six-a-side structure that was a forerunner to modern T20 and T10 cricket.
