HP Cabinet approves relief package for rain disaster victims
Shimla, July 28 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, today approved a significant relief package for families affected by the recent rain-related disasters across the state. In a major decision, the compensation for fully damaged houses has been increased from ₹1.30 lakh to ₹7 lakh, while the relief for partially damaged houses has gone up from ₹12,500 to ₹1 lakh. Shop and dhaba owners will now receive ₹1 lakh instead of ₹10,000. Cattle shed owners will be given ₹50,000, up from the earlier ₹10,000. Tenants who lost household belongings will receive ₹50,000, while house owners will be compensated ₹70,000. For livestock loss, the compensation for large milch animals has been raised from ₹37,500 to ₹55,000 per animal, and for goats, pigs, sheep, and lambs, the amount has more than doubled from ₹4,000 to ₹9,000. In the agriculture and horticulture sectors, compensation for damaged land has been increased to ₹10,000 per bigha from ₹3,900. De-silting compensation has been revised from ₹1,500 to ₹6,000 per bigha, and crop loss relief has risen from ₹500 to ₹3,000 per bigha. Owners of fully damaged poly-houses will get ₹25,000, and another ₹50,000 will be provided for de-silting of homes. The Cabinet expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the bereaved families. Himachal Pradesh Government to spend Rs 207.50 crore to strengthen diagnostic facilities
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Government is making a determined push to revive the ailing healthcare system by launching a focused initiative under 'Vyavastha Parivartan'--a systemic transformation of public health institutions aimed at delivering much-needed relief and improved services to the people. As part of this initiative, the government has proposed a comprehensive investment of Rs. 606.70 crore, with over one-third of the amount, Rs 207.50 crore, earmarked specifically for strengthening diagnostic services across the State, according to a release. A government spokesperson stated that, following the directions of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the health department has prepared a detailed blueprint for the proposal. This move stems from the fact that patients in government hospitals often face the greatest difficulties in getting accurate diagnoses. "Most Medical Colleges, as well as other hospitals in the State, are ill-equipped, as diagnostic machines are 15 to 20 years old. These outdated machines make it difficult for doctors to accurately detect patients' ailments. Moreover, with advancements in medical technology, more efficient machines are now available, which can lead to faster and more accurate treatments of the patients. In response to these challenges, the Chief Minister has directed the replacement of old machines with new and technologically advanced equipment in hospitals," he added. As per the proposal, high-resolution 1.5 Tesla and 3 Tesla MRI machines will be installed at four major medical colleges like IGMC Shimla, SLBSGMC Mandi, Dr. YSPGMC Nahan, GMC Chamba, as well as at the Atal Institute of Medical Super Speciality Chamiyana. In addition, each of the seven medical colleges in the State will be provided with two advanced CT imaging machines, five mobile digital radiography (DR) units, two ceiling-suspended DR X-ray machines, two high-end ultrasound machines with colour Doppler, one mammography unit, and one Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). A PACS unit will also be installed at Kamla Nehru Hospital in Shimla to facilitate the patients. Furthermore, each medical college will receive four portable ultrasound machines and one radiology workstation equipped with 3D software. The installation of this cutting-edge equipment is expected to significantly upgrade diagnostic capabilities and ensure that patients in government healthcare institutions have access to faster, more accurate, and more reliable health care services in the State, the release stated. The spokesperson further noted that most healthcare institutions across the State are currently constrained by limitations in both diagnostic and surgical capabilities. These limitations stem not only from a lack of modern equipment but also from insufficient training of the staff. To address this, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has emphasized 14 key focus areas in the proposal, including simulation-based training, cancer care, digital health, critical care etc. He said, "The aim of this modernization effort is to provide better care to patients within the State, so they no longer have to seek specialized treatment outside the State. Himachal CM extends best wishes to Indian players for Shitokai Goju-Ryu Karate Championship in Japan
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 12 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flagged off a 20-member Indian contingent from his official residence for the Shitokai Goju-Ryu Karate Championship being held in Osaka, Japan, from July 15-23. The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to the team and said that it is a proud moment for the country as the athletes prepare to represent India on an international platform. He said, as quoted from a release by CMO HP, 'Representing the nation was a matter of immense honour for any athlete and such moments are cherished for a lifetime.' He wished the contingent success in the tournament and appreciated their dedication and hard work. Emphasising the State Government's commitment to promoting sports, the Chief Minister said various initiatives have been taken to encourage youth to take up sports and stay disciplined in life, while also keeping them away from drug abuse. He said the Government has significantly enhanced the prize money for medal winners in international events to motivate athletes and recognise their efforts. The Chief Minister said that the prize money for Olympic, Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games medalists has been increased from Rs. three crore to Rs. five crore for gold medal winners, Rs. two crore to Rs. three crore for silver medal winners, and Rs. one crore to Rs. two crore for bronze medal winners. Similarly, for the Asian Games and Para Asian Games, the prize for gold medal winners has been raised from Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. four crore, silver medal winners from Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 2.5 crore and bronze medal winners from Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 1.5 crore. Of the 20 members participating in the Shitokai Goju-Ryu Karate Championship, 11 players are from Roots Country School, Baghi, while the remaining are from other parts of Himachal Pradesh and across the country. The Indian team is participating in the championship after a gap of five years. Along with the players, the team's head coach, Sensei Anil Kumar Jishta and assistant coach, Sensei Hari Tamang, are also travelling to Japan. SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh has faced widespread devastation since the onset of the monsoon, with 91 fatalities reported between June 20 and July 10, according to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA). In its latest Cumulative Loss Report, the SDMA stated that 55 deaths were directly caused by rain-related disasters such as landslides, cloudbursts, flash floods, drowning, and electrocution.
