‘Stranger Things' Season 5's Spectacular First Trailer Released by Netflix
After a three-year wait, the first look at the final season of Stranger Things is finally here. Below is the teaser trailer for season five of the Netflix coming-of-age sci-fi smash. The footage is heavy on special effects, spectacle and the sprawling cast looks full of intense emotions while keeping the storylines largely under wraps. More from The Hollywood Reporter 'Amy Bradley Is Missing,' But the Netflix Docuseries Filmmakers Think They Know Where She Is Millie Bobby Brown, Gabriel LaBelle to Star in Netflix Romantic Comedy 'Just Picture It' (Exclusive) Filming Underway on Season 2 of Netflix's 'Geek Girl,' Layton Williams Joins Cast The new season will be released in three parts, all around holiday weekends: Volume 1 on Nov. 26 (consisting of four episodes), Volume 2 on Christmas (three episodes) and The Finale on New Year's Eve. Each will drop at 5 p.m. PT. First, here's the official description of the new season: 'The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will's disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they've faced before. To end this nightmare, they'll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.' Back in January, co-creator Ross Duffer said about the final episodes, 'We spent a full year filming this season. By the end, we'd captured over 650 hours of footage. So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet. It's like eight blockbuster movies. It's pretty insane.' While co-creator Matt Duffer added, 'At the same time, we think it's our most personal story. It was super intense and emotional to film, for us and for our actors. We've been making this show together for almost 10 years. There was a lot of crying. There was so much crying. The show means so much to all of us, and everyone put their hearts and souls into it. And we hope — and believe — that passion will translate to the screen.' In November, Netflix announced the season five episode titles to tease the story arc of the season: 'The Crawl,' 'The Vanishing of [censored for now]' 'The Turnbow Trap,' 'Sorcerer,' 'Shock Jock,' 'Escape From Camazotz,' 'The Bridge' and 'The Rightside Up.' The creators have also previously teased upcoming projects in the Stranger Things universe. 'There are more Stranger Things stories to tell and in the works,' Matt said. 'It's a bit early at this point to talk about them, but we're deeply involved in every one — it's very important to us that anything with the Stranger Things name on it is of the highest quality and not repetitive — that it has a reason to exist and always blazes its own path. And also, it needs to basically just be … awesome. Or we need to think it's awesome. And there are a lot of what we think are awesome things in the pipeline.' Stranger Things stars Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Priah Ferguson, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Maya Hawke, Joe Keery, David Harbour, Winona Ryder and Brett Gelman. Larry Lamb, 77, retires from acting after emotional Gavin and Stacey finale
After a 'very fortunate career', TV icon Larry Lamb is unlikely to return to our screens as he retires from acting following Gavin and Stacey's farewell. The last ever Gavin and Stacey episode aired at Christmas, dubbed The Finale, and proved an emotional one as we said goodbye to the beloved characters. However, it turns out fans will have to let go of more than just the Shipmans, as Larry, 77, admitted that it will be his last major TV role. Focusing on his new novel, the EastEnders legend revealed he would consider small roles just to 'keep my face in' but he's stepping firmly out of the spotlight. Speaking of his time as Mick Shipman, father to central character Gavin and a fan favourite, Larry told the MailOnline: You get so involved with these characters that they become your favourite at that time. 'They are the focus of your life, but to finish up in my 70s playing a character like Mick who is beloved by millions of people, you have to give the writers credit… at this stage in my career Mick is the closest to my heart.' During the sitcom's run, Larry was praised for his natural, playful chemistry with on-screen wife Alison Steadman (Pam) as well as iconic moments — who could forget when Mick was 'on the telly'. Written by Ruth Jones and James Corden, the sitcom became a cultural icon and ran in total from 2007 to 2024, with extended breaks between specials. Gavin and Stacey ran for 22 episodes, comprised of three series and three Christmas specials, with each member of the core cast appearing in every single one. The show was set against the backdrop of a long-distance romance between Gavin (Mathew Horne), who lived in Essex and Barry Island's Stacey (Joanna Page). However, it quickly developed into far more than this as a complex relationship between Nessa (Ruth) and Smithy (James) became the central thread. From mysterious fishing trips to unforgettable neighbours — both in the form of Pete (Adrian Philip Scarborough) and Dawn (Julia Davis), as well as the late Margaret John as Doris — the show was bursting with laughs. A mind-boggling 12.3 million viewers tuned in on Christmas Day to watch the end of this 20-year journey, breaking its own 2019 viewership record. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Alongside his role as Mick, Larry is well known for his turn in EastEnders as the devious Archie Mitchell and numerous other TV appearances over six decades. More Trending 'I have had a very fortunate career; I've done so much that I am really proud of that maybe not so many people know,' he continued. 'If you have been through a life in entertainment and people don't all know you to suddenly where pretty much everybody knows you as a character… I find it's a reward, it's better to be known than unknown as far as I'm concerned. 'Particularly if you are known as a character that people really love… what a way to finish your working life.' Got a story? Gavin and Stacey's Alison Steadman vows 'I'm not doing it again' ahead of milestone
Gavin and Stacey's Alison Steadman vows 'I'm not doing it again' ahead of milestone In a recent interview, Pam Shipman actress Alison Steadman said she's had to "turn down a lot of things" due to a recent injury, and won't be returning to one aspect of her career There's one part of her career that Alison wants to leave in the rear-view mirror (Image: Getty Images ) Alison Steadman has said there's one element of her professional life she won't be doing again, as she gears up to celebrate a milestone. The Gavin and Stacey star, known for playing Pam Shipman in the much-loved BBC sitcom, turns 79 in August. And, with her 80th fast approaching, there's one aspect of her impressive career that Alison wants to leave in the rear-view mirror. In other ways, however, she has no intention of slowing down as she gets older. Alison wants to return to work this summer, after suffering a fall in Dubai that left her relying on a wheelchair to get around. Unfortunately, the injury - the breaking of the metatarsals in her foot - has also meant she's had to "turn down a lot of things". Yet, her return to acting will omit one specific creative medium, as she's flat-out said she won't be doing it. The Gavin and Stacey star is known for playing Pam Shipman (Image: BBC ) Article continues below When asked about her plans, the actress told Best magazine: "No, I'm not doing theatre again. I love doing the telly and radio, and I've had to turn down a lot of things because of my foot, but that's the way it is. I'll hopefully be back working in the summer, but we'll see." Meanwhile, the actress also recently revealed that she'd like Gavin and Stacey to return as a film, despite the popular show seemingly coming to an end with a Christmas special in December 2024, titled "The Finale". Created by James Corden and Ruth Jones (who also star in the show as Smithy and Nessa Jenkins), Gavin and Stacey's final episode attracted more than 19 million viewers. Despite this, Alison seems keen for the show to make its mark on the silver screen, clarifying that she'd "definitely be up for that" and praising the two writers as "brilliant". She told Daily Star Sunday: "I'd love it if a film of 'Gavin and Stacey' came up. If it did I'd definitely be up for that. I think it would work as a film, too. Ruth Jones and James Corden are such brilliant writers. I'm sure they could make it work." Alison also recently revealed that she'd like Gavin and Stacey to return as a film (Image:) Article continues below Sadly, however, Ruth has previously shut down any notion of the show returning. Speaking to Woman and Home magazine, Ruth dubbed the finale episode a "beautiful ending to a wonderful journey". The Welsh actress added that she was "delighted" with the response, claiming that they "couldn't have done it any better". Ruth also pointed out that people were "very satisfied" with the end result of the series. Larry Lamb, who plays Mick Shipman on the show, also believes there are advantages to a cinema version. Speaking previously to the Times, he explained that by putting it in the cinema, they would attract 35 million people and "make all the money over again".
