Kaizer Chiefs news: One win, two problems, big call

Kaizer Chiefs have just one win from five pre-season games. While it's not yet panic stations, concerns are beginning to rise, from fans to club legends. With the new season fast approaching, the team's form, tactics, and personnel are all under the microscope. Among the most vocal critics is former defender Tsepo Masilela, who has questioned the performances and tactical role of new signing Nkhanyiso Shinga. 'To be honest, when I look at Shinga, interesting player, but defensively, there's been question marks,' Masilela said. 'Even the second goal (conceded against Twente), there's a couple of times (even) in the previous games, he got beaten in one-v-one situations.' Masilela wasn't just critical of individual moments but also highlighted a broader tactical issue. 'Your primary job as a defender is to win those duels, to be on top of the winger – that's how you gain confidence. He's comfortable on the ball, that we can't argue. But again, him inverting most of the time, I found it was dragging Lilepo to receive the ball too deep, more like a left-back. I couldn't understand the idea of him inverting that much.' Meanwhile, head coach Nasreddine Nabi has sent a clear message to club management. After winning the Nedbank Cup and ending a 10-year trophy drought, he made it known that further squad investment is non-negotiable. 'That's the condition for me to stay [at Chiefs],' he said post-final. 'I don't feel that I want to go through what I went through this season.' The coach's comments, combined with Masilela's concerns and on-field struggles, paint a picture of a club with big decisions to make. Kaizer Chiefs' new defender raises alarm bells!

Kaizer Chiefs have won one of their five pre-season fixtures, raising alarm bells from fans to club legends. The latter relates to Tsepo Masilela, who has been vocal about his displeasure with left-back Nkhanyiso Shinga. 'To be honest, when I look at Shinga, interesting player, but defensively, there's been question marks, in my opinion,' he said. 'Even the second goal (conceded against Twente), there's a couple of times (even) in the previous games, he got beaten in one-v-one situations.' 'Your primary job as a defender is to win those duels, to be on top of the winger – that's how you gain confidence. Listen, he's comfortable on the ball, that we can't argue.' 'But again, him inverting most of the time, I found it that it was dragging (Makabi) Lilepo to receive the ball too deep, more like a left-back. I couldn't understand what's the idea of him inverting that much.' Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has been equally as vocal about his transfer demands. After winning the Nedbank Cup against Orlando Pirates, ending a ten-year trophy in the process, the Tunisian tactician stated that AmaKhosi must allow him to sign more talent if they want him to stay next season. One striker on their radar is Nigeria's Etiosa Ighodaro, however, it appears the deal is far from complete. 'There's been a lot of talk about Ighodaro joining Chiefs, but the reports suggesting he has signed are inaccurate,' an insider revealed. 'He is still assessing his options both locally and abroad. Nothing has been concluded. Let us know by clicking on the comment tab below this article or by emailing info@ or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Rangers in Robin Propper transfer warning from Twente chief

The defender is stalling on a move from Rangers due to financial issues. The Ibrox club has accepted an offer from the Dutch side to re-sign their former captain, a year after selling him. However, the 31-year-old would need to take a pay cut, which is causing the delay. It is believed he wants Rangers to make up the difference before he agrees to the move. Read more: Jan Streuer, Twente's technical director, has hinted that Propper might also be waiting to see if he still gets playing time under Rangers' new manager, Russell Martin. He said: "Now there's a new manager at Rangers, he might play less. "Then he might be able to return. "But he'll want to wait and see first if he actually plays less. "We have to decide: do we wait for that or do we see what happens next?" Streuer also made similar comments earlier, urging Propper to resolve the financial situation soon. He said: "Robin and his agent will first have to settle some matters with the club. "He still has a contract, of course. "We're waiting for that to conclude and won't be calling him every day. "But since he wasn't at our training camp, a solution will have to be found quickly."

But it hasn't really ever worked out for the central defender in Glasgow. He struggled to adapt to the Scottish game, with his lack of physicality a common criticism. Propper appeared in 27 Premiership games for the Gers, scoring twice. But with a major squad revamp up and running under new boss Russell Martin this summer, Propper's future appears to lie elsewhere. Twente, the club he captained before moving to Ibrox, have been interested in signing him. On Friday, Martin confirmed that a deal had been AGREED to sell Propper back to the club for £1.5m. Twente held an open day for fans at their De Grolsch Veste over the weekend and many punters were hoping, or expecting, to see an unveiling of Propper. However, it came and went with no appearance from the defender. Dutch journalist Leon ten Voorde has now provided an update on Propper's situation. Rangers boss Russell Martin opens up on transfer plans as he delivers updates on Dessers and Igamane Writing in newspaper Tubantia, ten Voorde said the player is still 'in negotiations with Rangers.' Propper still has three years left to run on his Gers contract and is reportedly going to be taking a wage cut to move back to Twente. The Dutch report notes that he "still has a running contract" that "has to be compensated for somehow." That is why, it's claimed, the deal hasn't gone through yet. Another deal that hasn't gone through is Rangers' pursuit of Djeidi Gassama. The Sheffield Wednesday winger was pictured in Gers training gear at St George's Park last week and it all looked as good as a done deal for the 21-year old. But the move still has not been confirmed. Light Blues boss Martin said that he believed everything at Rangers' end at least was in place. However, Wednesday's controversial owner Dejphon Chansiri hasn't signed off the paper work amid ongoing takeover talks at the club. 3 Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
