Four-star safety Tylan Wilson names Clemson in his final three schools

Clemson football's 2026 recruiting class is closing in on some key decisions in the secondary, with two of their top uncommitted safety targets set to announce where they'll play college football later this month. Four-star Tylan Wilson trimmed his list to three schools on Wednesday, putting Clemson in the mix alongside Texas A&M and Arkansas. The Georgia native has been on Clemson's radar since he picked up an offer in January and he was on campus for the Tigers' major official visit weekend in early June — a visit that helped solidify Clemson's spot among his top choices. Wilson is scheduled to announce his decision on July 18. According to 247Sports, he's the No. 221 overall prospect and ranks No. 17 among safeties in the 2026 cycle. Advertisement The other top name left on the board is four-star Blake Stewart, who is also nearing the end of his recruitment. Stewart plans to reveal his commitment on July 13, with Clemson battling Miami and Vanderbilt for his pledge. The Tigers are believed to be in a strong position with Stewart, who Rivals ranks as the No. 149 player overall and the No. 10 safety in the country. Clemson has already secured two safeties in the current class, so there's only room for one more addition at the position. With spots limited, landing either Wilson or Stewart would close out the position group in strong fashion for safeties coach Mickey Conn and the defensive staff. The next two weeks will be crucial as the Tigers try to lock in one of their final defensive pieces for what's shaping up to be another highly ranked recruiting class. 2026 4-star safety out of Mississippi predicted to land with Texas A&M

2026 4-star safety out of Mississippi predicted to land with Texas A&M After hosting 15 elite prospects from the 2026 recruiting class last weekend, Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his productive coaching staff have received several predictions to land five-star defensive lineman Lamar Brown, four-star offensive tackle Avery Morcho, and, as of Tuesday morning, Rivals Aggies insiders Mark Passwaters and Landyn Rosow have predicted the Aggies to land four-star safety Tylan Wilson out of Mississippi. Wilson has been a Clemson target for quite some time. Still, after his official visit this weekend, Elko and defensive coordinator Jay Bateman, along with defensive back coaches Ishmael Aristide and Jordan Peterson, have put in the work over the last month. With all the defensive back talent headed to College Station in the future, Wilson can see himself as a long-term piece in the Aggie backfield. In today's college football landscape, solid safety play is in high demand. Still, Texas A&M's 2026 safety rotation is only guaranteed to lose one starter in senior free safety Bryce Anderson, while sophomore Myles Davis and freshman Rashad Johnson represent the future starting rotation, which could now include Tylan Wilson. On the field, Wilson is highly versatile and could play cornerback at the next level, but he should thrive as a box safety against the run due to his on-ball instincts and ability to make plays in the middle of the field. Standing at 6-2 and 185 pounds, Wilson is currently positioned as Rivals' 13th-ranked safety, and the 10th-ranked prospect in Mississippi.
