Terry McLaurin finally returned to Washington Commanders training camp on Saturday, the team has confirmed. Washington is now expected to place him on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list. More to follow.

Eagles left to sweat on painful Harley Reid injury

Star West Coast midfielder Harley Reid could be set for a stint on the sidelines after suffering a painful ankle injury in the dying moments of his team's 49-point western derby loss to Fremantle. Reid injured his right ankle while being crunched in a Karl Worner tackle late in Saturday's 18.18 (126) to 12.5 (77) loss. The 20-year-old was helped off the field by two trainers before gingerly limping to the change rooms. Reid will undergo scans to determine the extent of the damage. Harley Reid leaves the field in the hands of the trainers.#AFLFreoEagles — AFL (@AFL) July 26, 2025 "I just chatted to him - he's hurt his ankle. I probably don't have much more information than that," West Coast coach Andrew McQualter said. "You can see Harley put no weight on it as he was coming off, and then he was able to walk off. "We'll go away, scan it and see." Reid finished with 15 disposals and two goals in a solid display. The No.1 draft pick was physically targeted numerous times by the Dockers, including an incident in which he was flattened off the ball by spearhead Patrick Voss. McQualter was proud of Reid's efforts. "I thought we saw a selfless version today of Harley," McQualter said. Reid even had a measured chat with an umpire at quarter-time to discuss several aspects of the game. "I didn't know that happened, but if that's what Harley wants to do, that's great," McQualter said. "And if the umpires are happy to chat, that's good. "It certainly beats screaming at them, which we've all wanted to do at times, and Harles has done. "But that's a good sign of maturity, if he's growing in that space." West Coast are also sweating on the fitness of key defender Harry Edwards, who was a late withdrawal after tweaking his hamstring in the warm-up.

England assessing Lauren James injury ahead of Euro 2025 final

England are assessing Lauren James's ankle injury ahead of the Euro 2025 final. James sustained a knock to her ankle in the first half of Tuesday's 2-1 extra-time win over Italy in the semi-final. England head coach Sarina Wiegman took no chances and replaced James with Beth Mead on the right wing at half-time. Wiegman has made minimal changes to her team throughout tournament n in Switzerland and will be hoping 23-year-old James is fit to feature in the final on Sunday. England are yet to learn who they will face at Basel's St. Jakob-Park, with the second semi-final between Germany and Spain taking place in Zurich on Wednesday night. The full England squad were in recovery on Wednesday, with James being assessed by in-camp FA doctors. Wiegman was asked about the severity of James's ankle knock when she spoke in a press conference after the Italy win. 'She hurt her ankle,' the England manager said of the Chelsea attacker. 'I haven't seen her yet, so I don't what it looks like over the next couple of days. But we had to take her off.' Lionesses captain Leah Williamson overcame an ankle injury of her own to train with the squad on Monday and was fit to start against Italy. Although the Arsenal defender was substituted in the 85th minute, that is believed to have been tactical and the fact she started the game indicated she had shrugged off the injury.

Williamson was also asked about her condition, to which she replied: 'It wasn't about me (tonight) and a game like that requires you to be at 100 per cent. It wasn't the time to stay on the pitch, but I don't know.' Wiegman is due to speak to the media at 5.45pm BST later on Monday and is expected to give an update on Williamson's condition.
