New 'Superman' Clip Explains His Secret Identity

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors There is that old question of exactly how Superman is able to hide the fact that he's also bumbling reporter Clark Kent with nothing more than a pair of eyeglasses. Well, a new clip from "Superman" explains exactly how the Man of Steel keeps his identity secret and, ironically, he isn't even in it. New clip from James Gunn's 'SUPERMAN' 'I'm not saying who he is, just that he wears hypno-glasses, they make his face look different in your brain so you don't know who he is' Read our review: — DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) July 8, 2025 The clip, which you can watch above, features Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) hanging out with the Justice Gang and talking with Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner/Green Lantern. In it, Gardner explains not only how Superman keeps his secret identity, but reveals that he and the Justice Gang know that Superman is Clark Kent. Pictures' 'SUPERMAN,' a Warner Bros. Pictures release. Jessica Miglio When Lane says she knows about the hypno-glasses, Gardner says, "So you know he's Clark Kent." So there you have it, the question is answered. Superman is able to hide his secret identity with nothing but a pair of glasses because those glasses aren't normal. They're "hypno-glasses" that change the way people see his face. This begs the question of who created the glasses and whether they're a product of science fiction or some kind of magic, but in a world where super dogs wear capes and space cops wield magic rings, for now "hypno-glasses" should be answer enough. The clip was shared during a guest appearance by Nathan Fillion on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" with actor Anthony Anderson subbing for Kimmel. Along with the "Superman" clip, Fillion shared that while he had not kept his bowl-cut wig from the film, that he had kept his Green Lantern ring. That's actually good news because, after all, we know he'll be needing it at least two more times. Fillion is confirmed to reprise the role of Guy Gardner at least twice more: first in Season 2 of "Peacemaker" and later in the upcoming HBO Max series "Lanterns." "Superman" releases in theaters on July 11. Tickets are on sale now. The film is written and directed by James Gunn. "Superman" stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced. Tom Holland Announces Exciting Update On Next Spider-Man Movie

Tom Holland has officially broken the silence—and for Spider-Man fans, it was worth the wait. During a brief but buzz-worthy comment, Discussing Film posted that Holland revealed that work is about to begin on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the next installment in the wildly successful franchise. The announcement, made via a viral social media clip, has already set off a flurry of speculation, theories, and excitement across the Marvel fandom. While details remain tightly under wraps, the confirmation of the film's title—Brand New Day—hints at what could be a fresh direction for the web-slinger following the events of No Way Home. That film, which saw Peter Parker make the ultimate sacrifice to protect the multiverse, ended with him alone, forgotten by his closest allies, and ready to start over. The new title fits that emotional reset perfectly. Marvel Studios and Sony have not yet released an official synopsis, casting news, or production timeline, but Holland's statement makes it clear that development is well underway. It's a rare update in what's been a long period of silence since 2021's multiverse-shattering finale. Fans of the comics will recognize Brand New Day as the name of a 2008 comic book storyline in which Peter Parker rebuilds his life after erasing his identity from public memory. If the film pulls inspiration from those issues, audiences could see a stripped-down, back-to-basics Spider-Man, something fans have been craving since the character first joined the MCU. As for Holland, this marks his fourth solo outing in the red-and-blue suit and his seventh appearance as Peter Parker overall. His performance has helped redefine the character for a new generation, and Brand New Day seems poised to explore his most personal story yet. With development now confirmed, the question isn't if Spider-Man will return—it's when. And judging by the buzz around Holland's comment, fans will be watching every move Holland Announces Exciting Update On Next Spider-Man Movie first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 28, 2025

Written by Kevin Smith with art by Adam Kubert — DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) June 20, 2025 We already knew DC and Marvel were once more crossing over in September for "Deadpool/Batman" #1, but on Friday, Marvel reported that the issue would include backup stories with more crossovers between the two companies, including "Daredevil/Green Arrow". 'That's Not His Arm': The Mr. Fantastic Popcorn Bucket is the New Dune Popcorn Bucket

'Are you the Mr. Fantastic Popcorn Bucket or are you just happy to see me?' We know that Fantastic Four: First Steps is going to be getting a big Galactus popcorn bucket, but there is also another bucket based on the main four members, and the reveal for the Mr. Fantastic popcorn bucket is getting the same reactions as the one from Dune not too long ago . Check this out: First look at a Reed Richards popcorn bucket for 'THE FANTASTIC FOUR' — DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) June 18, 2025 While the bucket is obviously showing off Mr. Fantastic's powers by having him stretch his arm around the bucket, the fact that his left arm isn't showing and the bucket seems to be directly connected to his crotch immediately prompted the rest of Twitter to make jokes about how Reed is actually using his 'third arm' to hold the bucket. Why does it look like…. Nevermind — CHRIS (@ChrisBlackadder) June 18, 2025 If anything, it does feel like Mr. Fantastic is a very tricky character to market nowadays since his powers always lead to someone somehow finding a way to make a joke about how he can stretch his penis. Remember when Reed Richards was released for Marvel Rivals earlier this year? Mr Fantastic — Siqintha Hedd (@Loudwindow) January 3, 2025 This isn't the edit, but you get the point. Well, the joke has been made multiple times, even in the official comics; so I guess anyone who is trying to market Mr. Fantastic should be well aware what to expect when you have a guy with stretchy powers. Good thing DC's Plastic Man isn't as popular because we wouldn't be hearing the end of it. Catch Fantastic Four: First Steps when it comes to cinemas on July 25.
