"Dogma" and "Chasing Amy" writer/director Kevin Smith will once more be writing Daredevil. The filmmaker wrote the "Guardian Devil" story for Marvel Comics in the late nineties, and now he's returning to write a story in which Matt Murdock/Daredevil crosses over with a DC character Smith has written: Oliver Queen/Green Arrow.
First look at a Daredevil & Green Arrow crossover story featured in the 'BATMAN/DEADPOOL' comic.

We already knew DC and Marvel were once more crossing over in September for "Deadpool/Batman" #1, but on Friday, Marvel reported that the issue would include backup stories with more crossovers between the two companies, including "Daredevil/Green Arrow".

It's a fitting match-up considering the writer. Along with writing Daredevil in "Guardian Devil", Smith also wrote "Quiver," a ten-issue storyline that launched a new volume of "Green Arrow" for DC Comics and brought the dormant archer back to life.

The issue will also include "Captain America/Wonder Woman" by Chip Zdarsky and Terry Dodson and "Jeff the Land Shark/Krypto" by Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru.
"We're going to all corners of the Marvel and DC Universes, and the creators are having an absolute blast finding the unexpected and unexplored connections between these characters," said Editor Mark Basso.
"We can't wait for the fans to experience the same jaw-dropping moments we are! And we've got some more secret stories in the works, so keep your eyes peeled for more to be revealed!"
"Deadpool/Batman" #1 hits shelves on September 17.
It isn't the only big comic book crossover that Smith has been involved with lately either. On July 9, Archie Comics releases "Kevin Smith Presents: Archie Meets Jay & Silent Bob".

Set after the events of 2022's "Clerks III", "Kevin Smith Presents: Archie Meets Jay & Silent Bob" finds Archie getting a job with Randal at the same store where the latter clerk used to work with Dante.
Smith said about the crossover, "Not only is this my stab at a classic American franchise that existed long before me that I read as a kid ... It's a midlife crisis project about death and learning to deal."

James Gunn Says The Movie Industry Is 'Dying' Due to Unfinished Screenplays
James Gunn, director for the highly anticipated forthcoming reboot of Superman, has been in the news quite a bit recently, and in rather blunt fashion. The 58-year-old filmmaker has made headlines for casually and confidently responding to fans "trying to restore the SnyderVerse"—in reference to Man of Steel director Zach Snyder—who have laid out a pretty ridiculous set of plans with ways to essentially "bomb reviews" of Superman, along with other ways to keep moviegoers away. Gunn offered up a funny, albeit condescending reply on X of, "Lol I think we will survive. I'm not sure the eight people that listen to that guy (I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it's a guy) are going to impact the course of events." While he's also taken to putting fans in their place who have been incorrectly spreading rumors that Batman II is canceled, Gunn also dropped another blunt take on the movie industry as a whole, explaining what he believes is the true reason the movie industry is "dying." "I do believe that the reason why the movie industry is dying is not because of people not wanting to see movies," Gunn said in a profile from Rolling Stone. "It's not because of home screens getting so good. The number-one reason is because people are making movies without a finished screenplay." "I know some people that were my former workers at Marvel — people who made some of the worst movies," Gunn explained. "There were people that were lazy and didn't put their time in. And then there were other directors that worked really hard and maybe didn't have the best movie come out, but they did everything they could." Gunn's overall point comes across as pretty fair and logical, and was in response to a reference about Eddie Murphy once stating that every bad movie happens because of Hollywood's apparent habit of setting a production date before they have a finished screenplay. One has to believe this problematic habit of Hollywood rushing films to production without a finished product, which has to induce somewhat of an extra massive strain on all the major players involved in any given film, has probably only gotten worse over the last decade with the strong, competing presence of continuously growing streaming platforms. Gunn appears to be adamantly backing up his take with DC Studios' polar opposite approach to Batman II's incessantly-discussed production status. "We don't have a script [for Batman II]. Matt's [director Matt Reeves] slow. Let him take his time. Let him do what he's doing. God, people are mean. Let him do his thing, man." Gunn's Superman reboot starring David Corenswet is right around the corner, slated to hit theaters on July Gunn Says The Movie Industry Is 'Dying' Due to Unfinished Screenplays first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 18, 2025

Director Matt Reeves has officially completed the script forThe Batman 2, a crucial step that moves the dark, gritty saga starringRobert Pattinsoncloser to production. This news, confirmed by sources close to the production, ignites excitement among fans eager to delve deeper into Reeves' unique vision of Gotham City. The completion of the script marks a significant milestone following a period of intense development and speculation. Reeves, known for his meticulous and deliberate approach to filmmaking, has taken his time crafting the narrative for this sequel, ensuring it aligns with the grounded, noir-inspired tone that resonated so strongly with audiences and critics alike in the 2022 original. Reeves posted to Instagram the completed script, writing in the caption, 'Parters in Crime (Fighters),' alongside co-writer Mattson Tomlin. The first page of the script appears to be blurred out but a Batman logo can be made out on the top of the page. While plot details remain tightly under wraps, it's widely expected thatThe Batman 2will continue to explore themes of corruption, moral ambiguity, and Bruce Wayne's evolving journey as Gotham's enigmatic vigilante. The ending of the first film, which saw the Riddler incarcerated and a subtle tease of the Joker (played by Barry Keoghan), left ample room for new antagonists and complex character arcs. Speculation is already rampant about which iconic villains might make their full-fledged appearance, and how the burgeoning criminal underworld of Gotham will further challenge Batman. The first film grossed over $772 million USD worldwide and solidified Robert Pattinson's portrayal of Batman as a compelling, detective-driven iteration. With the script now finalized, attention will turn to pre-production, casting announcements (beyond Pattinson's return), and securing a release date, which is anticipated to be in late 2026 or early 2027. The completion of the 'The Batman 2' script is a powerful affirmation of the creative direction set by Matt Reeves. It assures fans that the next chapter in this critically lauded take on the Caped Crusader is well on its way, promising another immersive and intense journey into the heart of Gotham.

Robert Downey Jr. Supports ‘Ironheart' Star Dominique Thorne Amid Review-Bombing Campaign: ‘We're in This Love Together'
On the day of 'Ironheart's' premiere, Robert Downey Jr. met with star Dominique Thorne over FaceTime to express his support for the actress and series amid a review bombing campaign ahead of the show's release. The show, which premieres Tuesday night on Disney+, has received middling to poor reviews from critics. But it was also hit with hundreds of often identical negative reviews by users who have not seen the show on Rotten Tomatoes, a form of harassment historically deployed against works focused on women, people of color or LGBTQ characters. 'I've grown so fond of you, it's bananas,' Downey said in the video. 'Congratulations. I'll be watching it with the world.' You can watch the video, released on Instagram, below. Downey captioned the post 'Riri and Tony don't follow trends #goodmorningIronheart'. The video, featuring the two actors, went live only hours before the three-episode premiere of 'Ironheart' releases at 6 p.m. PT. At the beginning of the video, Downey points out, 'It's June 24, which is…' Thorne touchingly responds, 'It's dad's birthday' — a reference to Downey's father, Robert Downey Sr. 'God, you've been doing too much press,' Downey jokes. The two then celebrate 'Ironheart's' release. The post shows a touching act of solidarity from Downey, who gave arguably the most notable and popular performance from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his 11-year run as Tony Stark. The actor will return to the franchise next year when he portrays Doctor Doom in 'Avengers: Doomsday' (or possibly this summer if he cameos in 'Fantastic Four: First Steps'). With the unwarranted heat 'Ironheart' has already received, it's a welcome sentiment from the Marvel star. 'Ironheart' marks only Thorne's second appearance as Riri Williams, a.k.a. Ironheart (well, third if we're counting the Disney cruise). The character first appeared in 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' when Namor hunted her for creating a Vibranium detector that led an expedition to his underwater domain. By the end of the film, Williams appears in her first functioning Iron Man suit. Prior to tonight's release of the first half of 'Ironheart,' the series has a 32% audience score despite the fact audiences haven't yet seen the show. Thorne and 'Ironheart' have consistently faced online attacks, as has become common in recent MCU films and series starring women, people of color and members of the LGBTQ community. 'Ironheart' received a truncated marketing campaign, with the first trailer releasing less than a month and a half before the series began streaming. In Marvel comics, the superhero debuted in 'Invincible Iron Man (2016) #7' and soon took over as Iron Man following Tony Stark's apparent death in 'Civil War II.' This was a period of time when many Marvel heroes were being replaced or working alongside younger legacy characters ascending to the mantle. Riri Williams faced harsher criticism than most. Williams views Stark as a mentor, speaking to an A.I. version of his consciousness following the events of 'Civil War II.' This adds a touching parallel to Downey's message, as the two characters have no formal relationship in the MCU. With the amount of unwarranted hate Thorne has received, Downey's video is a nice reminder that one of the world's biggest movie stars remains in her corner. '17 years from the birth of the MCU to the premiere of 'Ironheart,'' Downey says in the video. 'And we're in this love together.'
