Strict Security, Complimentary Tickets &...: Dana White Reveals Plans For UFC White House Event

Last Updated: Dana White has shared plans for a UFC event at the White House, with invitation-only tickets, tight security, and a possible main event featuring Jon Jones. Plans for a one-of-a-kind UFC event at the White House are beginning to take shape, with UFC CEO Dana White revealing several details about what could be one of the most exclusive sporting events in the world. The announcement follows comments made by US President Donald Trump at a rally in Iowa, where he teased the event as part of the celebrations for America's 250th anniversary next year. A report in Sport Bible stated that Trump confirmed that White would be responsible for assembling the fight card, which is expected to feature a championship bout. The President added that the event could draw between 20,000 and 25,000 spectators to the White House. But attendance won't be open to the general public. 'I don't even think we'll sell tickets. They will all be comp tickets," said Dana White when asked about ticket pricing for the event. As SportBible reports, this means entry to the show will be strictly invitation-only, making it one of the most exclusive UFC events ever staged. Dana White also highlighted the logistical and security hurdles involved in holding a live fight at the White House. During an appearance on the Full Send Podcast, the UFC chief spoke about the 'tons of challenges" they're facing. White told podcast host Kyle Forgeard, 'I don't even know how many people can get in, not to mention the fact that the Secret Service isn't going to let a lot of people come to this. Everybody's going to have background checks." White describes the setting as something never seen before in combat sports. 'Whoever actually gets to be there live, it will be such a unique, amazing experience in their lifetime," he said. 'One whole side of the backdrop will be the White House, and then the other side will be the Washington Monument." The proposed event has already stirred excitement within the MMA community, particularly among fighters. Former UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who recently retired, hinted at a return for the occasion. 'It would be, for me, it's about the opportunity to represent America at the White House. I don't care who I fight that night," Jones wrote on X. 'I found my reason why; that's what I needed, something that was more than money." I found my reason why, that's what I needed, something that was more than money — Jonny Meat (@JonnyBones) July 10, 2025 According to reports, White's dream main event could see Jones take on current heavyweight titleholder Tom Aspinall, a potential blockbuster to headline a historic night for both UFC and the US. view comments First Published: July 22, 2025, 12:55 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. CM Punk Reveals 'Secret' WWE Rule

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. CM Punk has pulled back the curtain on the production of live WWE television, revealing what he calls one of the "secret rules" of professional wrestling. The rule explains how and when top superstars are allowed to go over their allotted time for a promo or match. In a new interview with Josh Lawless of SportBible, conducted to promote the upcoming Netflix docuseries WWE Unreal, Punk gave a fascinating insight into the art of timing a live show. He explained that while WWE shows are meticulously timed, there is one major exception to the rule. The "Secret Rule" Of Going Long Punk stated that the unwritten rule is that a performer can go over their allotted time, but only if the segment is connecting with the audience on a high level. He contrasted this with a segment that is failing to get a reaction. "It's one of the secret rules. As long as it's really, really good, you can get away with it," CM Punk explained. "Going 20 minutes over and you suck, that's no good." The Art Of Timing A Live Show Live WWE broadcasts like Raw and SmackDown are complex productions that are timed out to the second. Producers and agents work with a "rundown sheet" that allocates a specific amount of time for each match, interview, and backstage segment to ensure the show hits its commercial breaks and ends on time. Going over your allotted time can have a domino effect, forcing other segments on the show to be shortened or cut entirely. More This is why only the most trusted and successful superstars are given the leeway to improvise and extend their segments. Punk, who delivered the legendary, time-bending "Pipe Bomb" promo in 2011, is one of the few who has earned that trust. More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation A Locker Room Leader's Mentality Punk also revealed that he often prefers to go shorter than his allotted time to help his fellow performers. He explained that a good locker room works together to ensure the best possible show. "I would rather go short than long," he said. "If Rhea [Ripley] is in the next segment, I can nudge here and be like, 'Hey, you guys need two minutes? I can give you two minutes'. That's the way a lot of the talent work together." He cited recent, lengthy segments involving The Bloodline and The Rock as examples of when it is right to go long. "When it's really good and the crowd's going absolutely banana for it – you can't really rush through it," he stated. He also mentioned the passionate overseas crowds, whose singing and chanting are special moments that the company has learned not to interrupt. Joe Rogan admits to paying his teen daughter $1,000 per minute to attempt extreme challenge

Joe Rogan has revealed that he once paid his daughter and her friends $1,000 per minute if they could endure an extreme challenge – much to the shock of the pals' parents. The 57-year-old podcaster shares two teenage daughters – Lola, 17, and Rosy, 15 – and adopted daughter, Kayja Rose, with his wife, former model Jessica Rogan. Giving listeners a glimpse into his life as a father, Rogan recalled how he once tasked one of his daughters and her pals with seeing how long they could last in his cold plunge pool. 'I paid my daughter and her friends $1,000 for every minute they can go in there for,' he recounted. 'Eleven-year-olds freezing their a** off trying to get a thousand bucks. 'I peeled off 10 crisp hundreds and they were laughing, giggling and the parents were like "what are you doing?!" 'It's fine! It's fun, everybody had a good time, I did it for fun.' According to SportBible, Rogan said in another episode: 'I gave three kids a thousand bucks and the parents were like, "what the f***!" 'But they earned it, I just wanted to show them that they could do it. 'These kids were so pumped, for them that's a hard thing to do and I'm showing them that they can do this very difficult thing.' Ice baths have also surged in popularity in recent years, amid claims they can boost circulation and improve heart health. Plunging into cold water triggers the body's cold shock response, where a sudden drop in temperature leads to a surge in adrenaline, noradrenaline and other hormones that boost feelings of alertness. This process is believed to be behind the alleged health benefits. Of course, $1,000 per minute is just chump change for Rogan, whose net worth is estimated to be around the $200 million mark. In March, Rogan declared he would never discuss his 'weird' theories about the universe with his wife and children. He married his wife Jessica in 2009 and adopted her daughter from a previous relationship. During an episode about human existence with comedian Andrew Schultz, Rogan asked his guest: 'How do you feel about this world that we're living in, this world that seems more and more like it's not real? More and more like it's a f***ing simulation?' Rogan went on to explain he is 'kind of convinced' humans are living in a computer-generated environment like in the Matrix. 'There's something more to reality than what meets the eye, there's more to it than what you can put on a scale or what you can put a ruler to. There's more to this thing,' he said. 'This thing's made out of like, some very bizarre energy that's attached to consciousness, that's what I think.' Bewildered, Schultz asked the podcaster what he was talking about. 'It's inevitable that one day they will achieve a simulation that is indiscernible from reality. No doubt about it,' Rogan explained. 'They've gotten real close.' He then went on to pose a series of rhetorical questions to his stunned guest. 'Is that the ultimate progression of technology? Is the ultimate progression of technology transcending physical reality and becoming completely digital life? 'So if that is possible, how do we know that it hasn't already happened? How can we know if it hasn't already happened?' Eventually, Schultz asked Rogan whether he ever brings this theory up to his wife and kids - to which the comedian responded: 'No, that's too weird to talk to kids about.'

Luke Littler and Luke Humphries back darts 'Royal Rumble' and agree format

Darts stars Luke Littler and Luke Humphries have discussed how a Royal Rumble-style event could take off in the sport and outlined a possible format for the tournament Darts stars Luke Littler and Luke Humphries have expressed their support for a Royal Rumble-style event in the darts world. The question was posed during a joint interview, and both top players were keen on the idea. For those unfamiliar with WWE, the Royal Rumble begins with two competitors in the ring, with surprise entrants joining the match at two-minute intervals. Given the exciting atmosphere at darts events and fans' fondness for walk-on music, Humphries and Littler believe the concept could be a hit in their sport with a few adjustments. ‌ WWE enthusiast Littler proposed that the darts version of a Royal Rumble match would involve rapid-fire 501 legs. The victor of each leg would then face unknown opponents, unveiled by their walk-on music, continuously until a champion is declared. ‌ When asked the question during an 'Agree to Disagree' game, Littler and Humphries immediately voted strongly to agree. "Have it!" Littler exclaimed as he joked about which player would make a comeback in the sought-after final slot. "I think it'd be good," Humphries told Sport Bible. "You probably couldn't rank it or anything because you'd have to make sure you're not taking too much away from the seriousness of the sport. But I think it would be a good laugh, a good bit of fun. I think the fans would love it as well." Discussing how he envisioned the tournament format, Littler said: "I don't think they could go above one leg, a 501. Straight away, one leg, the loser goes off and then the next player will do their walk on." ‌ Darts prodigy Littler is an avid professional wrestling fan, as the world champion chose his walk-on song - 'Greenlight' by Pitbull after it soundtracked WrestleMania 33 in 2017. "Every WrestleMania has their own tune and Flo Rida sang it with LunchMoney Lewis, and I was there right up in the stands," Littler said. Despite his passion for pro wrestling, Littler doesn't favour swapping darts silverware for wrestler-style championship belts. "I couldn't imagine getting a replica wrestling belt that said 'Darts World Champion' and putting it around my waist," he confessed. Fellow darts ace Humphries echoed this sentiment: "It's kind of fun, but for me it's all about trophies and they feel more prestigious." ‌ Littler and Humphries are focused on battling for the Premier League title during Thursday night's Finals Night playoffs. Defending champion Littler is gearing up to battle Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals, while Humphries takes on Nathan Aspinall. The winners will then fight for the title in the Premier League final. After the Premier League season concludes, Littler and Humphries will soon team up for England in the World Cup of Darts next month. Both players believe they can help England retain the World Cup trophy, following Humphries' success with Michael Smith last year. "Didn't need a second to think about it," Humphries said when discussing his and Littler's chances at the World Cup. "Everything can happen in darts, it's tough, but the way me and Luke play, our rhythm. "If we play to our potential, no offence to any of the opponents we play against, but I do think we'll be too good for them. If we play to our potential, I strongly agree that we will win the World Cup." Meanwhile, World Cup debutant Littler is equally determined. "We'll want to win it back-to-back, and obviously I want to get my hands on it," he said. "The pressure's going to be there, and we don't know what's going to happen. If we turn up on the day, we'll win, but if we lose, we lose."

Donny van de Beek points the finger over Man Utd struggles after exit

Donny van de Beek was never given a fair shot at Manchester United and has attributed his injury woes to the amount of time he spent on the bench at Old Trafford Donny van de Beek has claimed his injury struggles date back to his time warming the bench at Manchester United. The Dutchman was signed in 2020 but was unable to ever make himself a regular. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spent £35million to land the versatile attacker, but only made us of him sporadically as Van de Beek's frustration mounted. He scored on his debut but was rarely preferred to Bruno Fernandes with his minutes very much at a premium. ‌ He's since left, joining Girona in Spain, but has continued to battle an Achilles issue. The Dutchman has enjoyed far more minutes than he did at Old Trafford but clearly still has a chip on his shoulder when it comes to his underwhelming stint in Manchester. ‌ Solskjaer continued to defend his lack of use of the player, but in the years since Van de Beek's health has been a battle. He confessed that the time he spent as a sub means his body was less accustomed to the intensity of playing regularly. He told SportBible: "It's difficult to build rhythm and confidence when you're constantly being sidelined. It's hard to be at your best when you're in and out of the team, and I think when you're not playing regularly. Your body isn't used to the intensity and you become more prone to injuries. The lack of consistent minutes didn't help either." Van de Beek's goal on his debut did little to aid his cause and even when he would impress he was quickly returned to his bench role. He also admits the random cameos did nothing for his case with bit part minutes not helping him become a regular. He said: "I think I deserved more chances, especially in my first year. I didn't play all the time, but when I did, I had some good games. I was convinced I would get more opportunities. I felt good, and thought, 'Okay, my time will come' but for some reason, it didn't happen. After a year or two, it gets harder because if you don't get a longer run of games then it's difficult to prove yourself." Van de Beek would score the last goal of the Solskjaer era as he came off the bench to score what would be a consolation during a 4-1 loss at Watford. The Norwegian was forced to defend his use of the player on several occasions and claimed leaving him on the bench spoke to the quality of the squad. ‌ "I think it says a lot about our depth of quality in the squad that we don't have to use him every single game," he said. Despite that claim Van de Beek would make just four starts in his only full season under Solskjaer and things didn't change when Erik ten Hag, who coached him at Ajax, came on board before he eventually left Manchester.
