Yahoo19-02-2025
Four arrests have been made in connection to the "brazen" crime spree in Minneapolis last week.
Minneapolis PD announced that two men aged 34 and 19 and two 17-year-old boys were taken into custody on Tuesday, following a run of six crimes in less than two hours on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
The arrests were made at a property on the 2400 block of Bloomington Avenue after the suspects had been identified by investigators.
Between 5 a.m. and 6:50 a.m., police received reports of an aggravated robbery and a burglary – both involving victims being shot – a carjacking, a shots-fired incident, and another burglary at various locations in south Minneapolis.
A Ring camera captured three of the suspects during the first burglary, of a garage, which ended with two of the suspects opening fire at Boyd Hansen, 54, who was looking out of his window nearby, and was seriously wounded as a result.
The four suspects are now awaiting charges from the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.
"The MPD remains steadfast in its mission to hold violent offenders accountable and ensure justice for victims," O'Hara said. "Our investigators have meticulously built this case based on evidence and facts, working in coordination with prosecuting authorities, and we are confident all those responsible for terrorizing residents during this violent crime spree are in custody."
The six incidents were as follows:
5:04 a.m. – Burglary and shooting at 4100 block of 25th Avenue South
Three suspects broke into garage and then fired shots towards a house as they were leaving, striking 54-year-old Boyd Hansen, who was looking out of an upstairs window. He suffered a potentially life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.
"There were other reports of possible forced entry into garages in the area," MPD says.
5:16 a.m. – Carjacking at 5100 block of 34th Avenue South
A 29-year-old man was carjacked at gunpoint, with four male suspects arriving in a white sedan, taking the man's grey SUV. The suspects left in both vehicles, with the Mazda later recovered.
5:32 a.m. – Burglary at 4026 26th Ave. S.
A garage door was forced open by 3-4 suspects who arrived in a white sedan. One of them was armed. Nothing was taken, but one of the doors had signs of forced entry.
5:41 a.m. – Shooting at 2100 block of East Lake Street
A 25-year-old man was found with a potentially life-threatening gunshot wound inside a Lake Street house. He said he had been shot near the 2300 block of 32nd Street East.
"Preliminary information indicates that he was shot during a robbery involving three male suspects in a white sedan," MPD says.
6:17 a.m. – Burglary at 4915 31st Ave. S.
A garage door was forced open at the address, with witnesses giving a similar description to the suspects in the other incidents.
"A vehicle inside the garage had a smashed window. There is no known loss. The occupant of the home was not injured."
6:49 a.m. – Shots fired at 4908 32nd Ave. S.
Occupants of a white sedan parked in an alley "got out and fired off shots." Nobody was injured.

Court briefs: Man charged in hit-and-run and serial burglar faces sentencing

A Calumet City man is charged with a Hammond hit-and-run. Daquan Howard, 25, was charged July 10 with aggravated battery, battery by means of a deadly weapon, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, criminal recklessness, leaving the scene of an accident with moderate for serious bodily injury, and misdemeanor domestic battery. He has not been apprehended. When arrested, he is ordered held on a $6,000 cash bond. A woman told police Howard, her ex-boyfriend, showed up in a red Mazda as she and her new boyfriend were walking near State Line Avenue and Webb Street. Howard hit her three times in the back of the head after they argued, she said. When the couple tried to walk away, Howard hit them with his car, then took off, an affidavit alleges. Anyone with information can contact Hammond Police at 219-853-6490. An alleged serial burglar faces up to four years in prison after signing a plea deal. Christian Felkamp, 24, of Gary, pleaded guilty last month to two counts of burglary. He admitted breaking into Robert Henry Corporation's property on Jan. 25 in the 2100 block of Southlake Mall in Hobart and stealing a trailer with four spools of NIPSCO wire. In a separate incident, he admitted to sawing through the roof of Fantasy Gentleman's Club, 3850 179th Street in Hammond on Nov. 22 to try stealing cash from the ATM. As part of the deal, he has to repay nearly $7,000 to the Robert Henry Corporation, $2,300 to the strip club, $1,000 to Midwest PGM Recycling, and more than $28,000 to NIPSCO. In exchange, Lake County prosecutors agreed to dismiss several other theft charges. His sentencing is scheduled Wednesday. Felkamp has four other pending burglary and auto theft cases in Porter County. A Munster woman faces up to 12 years in a plea deal in connection with her boyfriend's death. Marysa Roriguez, 22, pleaded guilty July 7 to burglary. Authorities allege her boyfriend Alijah Adams broke into a Hammond apartment on June 1, 2024 around 2:30 a.m. to the 600 block of 169th Street. The man living there allegedly shot Adams dead after Adams beat him. He has not been charged. Rodriguez admitted in documents that she 'worked in concert' with Adams. Specifically, she was there to fight a woman there. Adams' family has contested this. According to an autopsy report they provided to the Post-Tribune, Adams was shot in the head, twice in the back, once in the groin and thigh. That could not be independently verified by the Lake County Coroner's Office Adams was charged in an unrelated case in connection with the Jan. 13, 2020 death of Julio Salinas, 39, of East Chicago. That case was pleaded down to Level 5 felony assisting a criminal last year. His co-defendant Josue Anaya was gunned down in 2022.
