Mariah Carey's $75,000-a-month rented Connecticut estate now for sale at $12.4 million

A Connecticut mansion rented by Mariah Carey for nearly two years is now available for purchase.
The 56-year-old music artist — who was spotted out in London last week — splashed out $75,000 a month for the 18,000 sq ft property, built in 1929, beginning in July 2023.
The New Canaan estate, which Carey once featured in a music video, has hit the real estate market for $12.4 million, according to Mansion Global.
Listing agent Danielle Malloy told the outlet, 'The quality and scale of this home are like no other.'
It boasts a four-bedroom guesthouse, wellness center with a gym, yoga studio, bar and lounge, sauna and massage room.
Carey reportedly worked on parts of her forthcoming 16th album, unofficially called MC16, at the palatial residence.

And a May 2024 social media video shows the singer on the grounds of the estate as she delivers her contribution to Muni Long's Made for Me remix.
In its nearly 100 years, the home has only had four owners including Carlos Hank Gonzalez, a Mexico City mayor. In the 80s he contributed the nine-ft-tall, 1,500ft-long brick and limestone wall at the front.
Then, in the 1990s, the structure underwent $8 million in renovations that included a 10,000 sq ft expansion where a new kitchen, outdoor courtyard and great room were designed, per Mansion Global.
'You can see New York City on a clear day,' Malloy told the publication of its 35 ft ceilings, two-story windows, mezzanine level and turret.
The listing says the great room was inspired by the 1999 film Entrapment, starring Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
In the movie the actor and actress rehearse their choreography for an art heist in Castle Duart, situated on the Isle of Mull in Scotland.
The latest homeowners scooped up the fanciful mansion in 2014 for $6.5 million before investing the equivalent in renovations over three years.
Known as Orchards End, the homeowners enlisted architect Dinyar Wadia to execute their vision.
In addition to modernizing it, 'They wanted to preserve the integrity of the home,' Malloy said.
The original design was by New York architect William B. Tubby, whose repertoire included Waveny House in New Canaan, Dunnellen Hall in Greenwich, Connecticut, and the William H. Childs House in Brooklyn, Mansion Global noted.
Tubby incorporated 'a slate roof, a mix of hardwood, marble and limestone floors, high ceilings, detailed millwork and plasterwork, iron-framed windows, moldings and baseboards, wide and tall doorways, and built-ins.'
The first-floor rooms in the listing consist of an entry parlor, library, a game room, plus the great room.
There is also a kitchen complete with a marble island and heated marble floors, a dining room with murals painted by hand, a gallery foyer, butler's pantry and a conservatory with a terrace.
Meanwhile, the home's second floor is where potential buyers will find an office and eight bedrooms.
On the third level there is another game room, while the basement level is designated for media and wine rooms.
In total, the sprawling property offers 20,000 sq ft of indoor space — tallying the main and guest house.
There are a whopping 12 bedrooms, 12 full bathrooms and four half baths.
On the 6.26-acre lot there is a heated pool and spa and the wellness center is 5,000 sq ft.
There's a four-car garage, sports court, balcony, central vacuum, various terraces, a home theater, 12 fireplaces, a wine cellar and fountains.
About the neighborhood, Malloy confirmed, 'Oenoke is one of the most coveted and prestigious roads in New Canaan.'

Justin Bieber emerges solo at Hollywood spa after dropping major hint about relationship status with wife Hailey

Justin Bieber visited a West Hollywood spa on Saturday, days after he hinted at the status of his relationship with wife Hailey Bieber. The 31-year-old Sorry hitmaker emerged from Voda wearing his usual oversized fashion look, including baggy beige sweatpants, a button-up white shirt, and black vest. Bieber, who has drawn attention in recent weeks for his social media antics, had a pair of headphones around his neck. His dirty blonde hair was buzzed into a low cut and he sported a patchy beard while leaving the social club solo. On Friday, he shared a slew of photos from his life with model wife Hailey, 28, and their 10-month-old son Jack Blues. The family-of-three appeared to be soaking up quality time as they kicked off their summer outdoors near a lake. Photos shared to Justin's account, which he has changed from @justinbieber to @lilbieber, showed the model holding their son, pickleball paddles, and walking near a golf cart. While the former child star has been frantically posting a barrage of online content in recent weeks, it's been reported that the Biebers' marriage is under a lot of stress. 'Justin's been a hard person to deal with recently because of what he's going through,' a source dished to Us Weekly earlier this week. 'It's been really hard on [Hailey].' Bieber landed himself in hot water with the public in late May after posting troubling back-to-back social media posts. 'love u moms but mothers day sucks *ss,' the Canadian singer wrote as an Instagram Note on Hailey's first Mother's Day as a mom. She returned the swipe one month later on Father's Day. And days later he shared the cover image of Vogue's summer issue, starring Hailey. Along with the picture, he added an anecdotal caption that began, 'Yo, this reminds me [of] when Hailey and I got into a huge fight.' He shockingly confessed, 'I told Hails that she would never be on the cover of Vogue. Yikes. I know, so mean.' But according Bieber's weekend Instagram pictures, which he spread out through multiple posts, the spouses are sticking together. Jack was dressed in a blue and white Toronto Maple Leafs jersey and a pair of jeans in several posts. In another picture, which was also posted by Hailey, the infant sat in lush green grass on a soccer field. 'Justin's going through a difficult time, and Hailey is giving him room to get himself back on track. He's doing his best, but it's tough,' a second source told Us Weekly. But, ultimately, the person close to the couple said: 'She knows that's part of the industry and who she's married to,' adding that the odds of them calling it quits 'are very slim, especially because of their faith.' 'Faith is a big part of their life. They believe they are soulmates and meant for each other. They'll do anything to make it work,' the source emphasized. 'They are going to get through it.'

Will Smith takes aim at Chris Rock with savage Oscar slap lyric in cringey freestyle

Will Smith blasted Chris Rock as nothing but a 'joker' in his 'Fire in the Booth' freestyle rap I Am the Illest, which he performed with Charlie Sloth three years after his violent assault against the comedian onstage the 94th Academy Awards. 'Now I'm not the type of man to move in malicious ways / and I am too grown to play childish games / but if you talking crazy out your face up on the stage and disrespect me on the stage,' the disgraced 56-year-old rapped on June 22. 'Expect me on the stage.' Will (born Willard) continued: 'Jokers dish it out, cry foul when it's time to take it / city full of real ones wasn't raised to fake it.' Smith slapped the 60-year-old Selective Outrage funnyman and warned him to 'keep my wife's name out of your f***ing mouth' after he delivered a G.I. Jane joke about Jada Pinkett Smith 's bald head, which was a result of alopecia. Curiously, the Tantrum rapper avoided mentioning or even referring to the 53-year-old Worth author in his freestyle rap despite her being the very reason for his so-called 'chivalrous' outrage. The disgraced 56-year-old rapped on June 22: 'Now I'm not the type of man to move in malicious ways / and I am too grown to play childish games / but if you talking crazy out your face up on the stage and disrespect me on the stage' Aside from throwback snaps, Will and Jada haven't been physically pictured together since the Hollywood premiere of Bad Boys: Ride or Die way back in May 2024. On January 30, People reported that Smith and Pinkett - who were secretly separated from 2016-2022 - 'are still together' but 'living their own lives' in different homes. The hot-tempered Oscar winner seems internally divided on whether he's truly contrite or defiant over slapping Chris, but the subject has crept into his new songs as well as being slapped three times by his Bad Boys co-star Martin Lawrence in their movie. Hours after the shameful 2022 altercation, Will neglected to apologize to Rock in his acceptance speech, and then he went to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Beverly Hills where he celebrated and sang along to his own songs. But the very next day, Smith resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which banned him from attending any of their events - in person or virtually - until 2032. 'Change takes time and I am committed to doing the work to ensure that I never again allow violence to overtake reason,' the West Philly native said in a statement at the time. 'My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable. The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home. 'I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken.' On June 18, Will told BBC Radio 1Xtra that he's done a lot of 'internal work' and 'deep reflection' and 'took a big, strong, honest look at myself.' 'The addiction to the approval of others that I had to dissolve, it was brutal. It was just like there was a manhole cover over some unexplored areas and the manhole cover came off. 'It was scary for a minute what was in there. But then all of a sudden, all these new thoughts, new energies, new creativity came through like a geyser and it started showing up as music.' Unfortunately for the four-time Grammy winner, his first album in 20 years - Based On A True Story - failed to chart in any major territory with Pitchfork blasting it as 'excruciatingly corny' and Rolling Stone calling it 'cringey, clunky, and dated.' Will - who gets 11.8M monthly listeners on Spotify - is next scheduled to bring his 26-date Based On A True Story UK/European Tour to Spanish music festival Granca Live Fest in Las Palmas this Thursday. Smith's upcoming acting projects include long-delayed sequels to his early aughts blockbusters I Am Legend and Hancock, as well as sci-fi thriller Resistor for Sony Pictures and Michael Bay's amnesia action flick Fast and Loose for Netflix.
