Brody Dalton 2025 season outlook
A position group that is loaded with options, it feels likely that Dalton plays a role for the Crimson Tide at some point in 2025.
However, as to what that role is currently likely comes as an unknown, as both Josh Cuevas and Danny Lewis Jr. are at the moment expected to start, while others such as Kaleb Edwards are other options. Based on his experience though, it feels likely that Dalton will see time for the Crimson Tide this season, potentially coming in a notable role as both a pass catcher and blocker.
Overall, expect Dalton to play a role in some form for the Crimson Tide this fall, providing depth and experience.

FSU's Tommy Castellanos should stand on business. That's the type of QB Mike Norvell wants
Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos is standing on business. As he should It was obvious that Castellanos would address his previous comment about Alabama sooner, before the opener, which is a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on Aug. 30 at Doak Campbell Stadium. A reminder of what he said about the Crimson Tide, in an interview with On3, Castellanos stated that without Nick Saban, Alabama's defense will struggle against him. In day two of the ACC Media Kickoff, Castellanos remained confident about dealing with Bama in FSU's season opener and seemed to have the support of teammates who feel the same way. "We stand on what I said," Castellanos said. "But there's no disrespect between that team or anything like that. It's just the confidence that I have in my teammates and the way we've been preparing and putting this preparation together this off-season, I just feel confident in the guys and the work that we've been putting in. Just feel confident in me and my teammates and Coach Norvell and how he's get." Whether the results will go against Castellanos' favor, and the internet world will react to it in the worst way possible, his point has been made. Why can't Castellanos feel that no defensive team can stop him? This is the same quarterback who produced 3,300 total yards and 28 total touchdowns on his own as a sophomore, including 1,113 yards on the ground. Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle. Tommy Castellanos' confidence is exactly what FSU football needs No football player, coach, or fan needs a choir boy behind center. Even for head coach Mike Norvell, when he fiercely stated that he is not looking for sidekicks. Castellanos seems like the no-sidekick kind of guy. The moment he enrolled at FSU, Castellanos was viewed as a leader. He does have an enriching personality, as he alluded to on different occasions. He is the complete opposite of DJ Uiagalelei last, who was quiet and as aggressive when commanding his teammates, at least from what we've seen from a distance. Castellanos has a combination of a Jameis Winston-type attitude, as he compares himself, but also a mixture of Jordan Travis when it comes to swag, and can back things up with his level of play. No, we didn't see it last in his final tenure at Boston College. Castellanos clearly didn't fit the pro-style offense created by Bill O'Brien, which led to a complete fall-off in his season and ultimately resulted in his departure from the program after being benched late in the year. "You know, I'm very thankful for Boston College and all the people there that supported mewhen I was there," Castellanos said. "I had a great time there. But we're past that. I'm focused on this season and focused on everything going forward with my new teammates and my new team." Castellanos has a clean slate with nothing to lose. He's off the radar of everyone as one of the top QBs in his own conference, let alone on a national scale. That means no one will see it coming, except Castellanos. Thomas Castellanos Adds More Flame to Alabama Comments
Thomas Castellanos Adds More Flame to Alabama Comments originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida State Seminoles open the 2025 season against each other in Tallahassee, and things are continuing to heat up. Florida State quarterback Thomas Castellanos got things started by taunting Alabama in June, stating that the Crimson Tide no longer had Nick Saban to save them. On Wednesday at ACC Media Days, Castellanos was asked if he would have said some things differently about Alabama in hindsight. However, he was firm in his stance, standing by what he had said. The stance is interesting from the Florida State gunslinger, considering he appeared to backtrack the comments when at a workout with Alabama receiver Isaiah Horton. "Most definitely, but we stand on what I said," Castellanos said. "So, I said what I said, and we stand on that. I don't mean no disrespect to none of those guys at Alabama or anything like that. It's just I have confidence in my guys and the work that we've been putting in, and preparing, and the preparation we've been ya know putting together. That's all that was. No disrespect to those guys, but we stand on what I said." The comments caught the attention of Alabama Heisman winner Mark Ingram II (2009), who thanked Castellanos for giving the Crimson extra motivation. Castellanos is in his first year with a new team, having transferred from the Boston College Eagles. The Seminoles are fresh off their worst season under head coach Mike Norvell after a 2-10 finish in 2024. Alabama will also have a new quarterback under center, in Ty Simpson, who has been the backup for the last three seasons. The much-anticipated showdown is set for August 30, with a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 23, 2025, where it first appeared.

Greg McElroy Reveals College Football Team as a 'Legitimate' National Championship Contender
Greg McElroy Reveals College Football Team as a 'Legitimate' National Championship Contender originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Alabama Crimson Tide are desperately hoping to return to competing for national titles, a common occurrence during the Nick Saban era. Kalen DeBoer is now the head coach and is fresh off a 9-4 season in his first year in Tuscaloosa. DeBoer took the Washington Huskies to the national championship in 2023, and Greg McElroy thinks the same can happen for the Crimson Tide in 2025. McElroy called Alabama a "legitimate" national championship contender on a recent episode of "Always College Football." Alabama's last national title of the Saban era was in 2020, when the team defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes 52-24. "I think Alabama has a big year," McElroy said. "I'm a believer. I'm buying. I think they are a legitimate national championship contender in year number two for Kalen DeBoer." The Crimson Tide missed the College Football Playoff last year after going 9-3 during the regular season. The 2024 season was the first time that the 12-team format was used for the playoff. Alabama had the third-best odds to make the CFP among SEC teams, at -180, according to Circa Sportsbook. The Crimson Tide's trip to the playoff in 2023 ended with a 27-20 overtime loss to the Michigan Wolverines, and Saban retired shortly after. The team returns top talent on both sides of the ball, including quarterback Ty Simpson, receiver Ryan Williams, linebacker Deonte Lawson and cornerback Domani Jackson. Simpson was named the starting quarterback after being the backup for the last three seasons. The former five-star prospect brings 16 games of experience with him into the 2025 season. An elite prospect from the 2026 class named Alabama as a finalist recently. Four-star in-state edge rusher Jaquez Wilkes included the Crimson Tide in his final five schools, but went with the Auburn Tigers instead. Alabama opens the 2025 season with the Florida State Seminoles on August 30. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET on story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 22, 2025, where it first appeared.
