Nike set to make history with collaboration that's 'steeped in Indian culture'

Daily Mirror11-06-2025

Nike's historic collaboration with Indian designer brand NorBlack NorWhite seeks to turn the brand's performance pieces into "symbols of cultural connection" and will be "steeped in Indian culture".
Sportwear giant Nike has launched its first major collaboration with an Indian designer label NorBlack NorWhite (NBNW). The limited-edition styles celebrate Indian culture and craftsmanship and 'invite women into sport' with unrestrictive silhouettes.
NBNW is the brainchild of Mriga Kapadiya and Amrit Kumar. The New Delhi-based label is known for combining traditional Indian crafts and textiles with streetwear silhouettes.
The Nike x NBNW collection is rooted in the practice of bandhani: a centuries-old Indian tie-dye technique used to create the complex patterns. According to Nike, the collaboration helps transforms the brand's performance styles into 'symbols of cultural connection' and introduce 'new communities to colours and patterns steeped in Indian culture'.
The collection includes sportswear and leisurewear essentials including a hoodie, tank, cropped T-shirt, bras and shorts. A Nike x NorBlack NorWhite crossbody bag is also part of the limited edition collection as are four footwear silhouettes for women: the Nike Air Max Craze, Motiva and Pegasus 41.
The collection is available globally on June 11 at nike.com and select Nike Stores. The Nike Calm x NorBlack NorWhite Women's Slides (£54.99) are currently available online in the UK. As are the High-Waisted Printed Biker Shorts (£32.99), matching Light-Support Padded Printed Sports Bra (£37.99) and the Dri-FIT Printed Tank Top (£44.99).
The collaboration is noteworthy not just for its hues but for its focus on silhouettes that promote easy and effortless movement for women. Women's kit is often cited by athletes as particularly restrictive and unfunctional and this new range addresses these shortcomings with breathable and free-flowing pieces.
'This collection shines a light on the rigor, dedication and ancestral knowledge that's rooted in Indian culture, and we hope each piece inspires women to draw into their own athletic mindset while navigating everyday life in India and around the world,' says Mriga.
To highlight the functionality of the designs, Nike and NBNW teamed up with several female athletes. The official campaign features wrestler Anshu Malik, sprinter Priya Mohan and cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma.

'What really hits different from other campaigns is that this collaboration is designed right here in India by a local collective that gets our vibe,' says Jemimah. 'Wearing Nike that's laced with Indian culture is a flex. It's bold, rooted and ours. As a woman in a sport that's often seen through a male lens, being part of a campaign like this is my way of saying, 'We're not just showing up, we're here to take over, win big and look fab while doing it.''
This is one of a few major moves from Nike to invest in women consumers and athletes. Back in February 2025, Nike announced a joint brand deal with Kim Kardashian to create NikeSKIMS.
At the time Nike shared the collaboration was meant to "disrupt the global fitness and activewear industry with best-in-class innovation in service of all women athletes — championing their confidence, strength, femininity and competitiveness like never before."

Dumped Love Island star says DMs are flooded with celebs after leaving villa

Blu Chegini, who was dumped from the Love Island villa this month, says that some famous faces have slid into his DMs since leaving and accuses ITV of not showing his true personality. Dumped Love Island star Blu Chegini has revealed that his DM's are 'popping' since leaving the famous ITV2 villa, and there's even a few famous names in there. Talking with Mirror at the TRIC Awards in central London, 26-year-old Blu admitted, "It's been a bit mad since I left the villa, the DMs have been busy though, they're popping." He added, "There's been a few famous ones, but I better not say who." ‌ Despite being in the original line-up of islanders at the beginning of this series, Blu was dumped from the island earlier this month in a brutal recoupling which left him single. Before his departure, he was getting to know girls Alima and Shakira, who remain in the villa. ‌ Since returning home, Blu's Instagram has reached 22K followers - including the likes of former Love Island winners Jess Harding and Gabby Allen and Married At First Sight star Hannah Norburn. He has also signed to Neon Managment, the same PR company who manages stars such as Joey Essex and Lucinda Stratford. While there may be plenty of single girls hoping to catch London-based Blu's eye back in the UK, the reality star still has eyes for Mallorca. Admitting the premature departure was disappointing, Blu said he'd like another crack at the famous villa: 'Get me back in there, I'd definitely go back and show my personality more, I didn't get to do that. "I did show it in the villa but it wasn't aired in the episodes, so I'd like people to get to know me and see what I'm really about. I want ITV to fly me out for Casa Amor.' ‌ Describing his type as Poppy Harrison, who was only on the show for two days as she attempted to turn Remell's head at the Sleepover villa, Blu says the bombshell is exactly who he was waiting to enter the villa for himself. However, if the Construction Project Manager doesn't make it back to Mallorca before the end of the series, he's hoping for one of his fellow OG islanders to win the series. 'I want Tommy to win, I'm not sure who he'll be partnered with, but I'd like him to win.' Blu also weighed in on the villa drama after Toni and Emily recently came to blows, admitting he thinks Emily is a 'sweet girl' and doesn't know why there's been a war of words between the pair.

Now it seems that Haim's surprise set on The Park stage faced more sound issues. The trio - made up of sisters Este, Danielle and Alana - made a highly anticipated return to Somerset on Saturday night. After performing on the Pyramid Stage in 2022, they returned to their stomping ground to perform to an eager crowd. However, during their live set, fans were heard to have shouted 'louder, louder'. The Mail Online has reported that other music nearby was drowning out the performance of Los Angeles-based siblings Haim had previously dropped several hints to fans that they would be performing at Worthy Farm in the weeks running up to Glastonbury. But despite the sound issues, the American rock band kept going with their performance. Their show was very well received by fans who took to social media in droves to praise the band, and declare that they should have been a headline act. Writing on X - formerly known as Twitter -one fan gushed: "Haim were and are exceptional." American group 'confirm' secret Glastonbury set as they tease fans with big clue A second agreed: "HAIM's (not so) secret set at #Glastonbury was outstanding. Catch it on iPlayer if you missed it, it's so worth it." "The irony that the best TBAs Lewis Capaldi, Pulp & Haim all brilliant and could easily have headlined," noted a third user. While someone else wrote: "Haim back where they belong, Glasto." And a fifth added: "Only a matter of time before HAIM headline Glastonbury. Should have been this year. Such a fun band." In a conversation with radio star Jo Whiley, Alana admitted: "We love The Park Stage. The Park Stage is our favourite. "[Be]cause that was like the first time we came to Glastonbury, we got to play The Park Stage. It felt like a movie." She continued: "It was like, 'What is going on? How did we get here?' And also just like… you never forget the first time you step onto the farm. "And it's the most insane feeling, I think, that you'll ever have. But it was incredible, it's the best festival in the world." 6 The trio suffered a technical blunder as some of their set was reportedly drowned out Credit: Alamy 6 However, fans still praised the group as they carried on Credit: Getty

British TV star who quit acting to join OnlyFans looks unrecognisable 16 years after finding fame on E4 show

The E4 beauty has also traded in her acting day job for a lucrative career on subscriber site OnlyFans - confessing the account and her side-hustle stripping career "saved" her during the Coronavirus pandemic. She played Katie Fitch, whose character was older twin to Emily, and who worked for her mum's wedding business. Megan last appeared on the Channel 4 show - famed for its wild storylines about partying, drugs, sexual exploration and alcohol abuse - back in 2010. After Skins, the London-born star previously told how she was left frustrated by the acting industry because of the 'elitism' she experienced, having not been classically trained. She landed parts in Silent Witness, Holby City and several short films, alongside working on her own plays. Speaking as a guest on Strippers In The Attic, she claimed to have been turned down for an advert because she didn't go to acting school. Megan also participated in three bodybuilding competitions, qualifying for an international championship yet her cash earner is now on the OnlyFans screen. She looks completely different from her red-headed character, who donned thick eye make-up and plentiful jewellery. Megan has instead opted to embrace her natural brunette locks, styling them in loose waves for a glam look on social media. She has also experimented with chunky blonde highlights to freshen up her look. I was on Skins before working in a strip club to pay my rent - now I'm making even more flogging naked snaps to fund X-rated new show OPENING UP After the global pandemic crippled the arts industry and shut bars and clubs, Megan told how she turned to OnlyFans to help pay the bills. She previously told The Sun: 'If it wasn't for OnlyFans I wouldn't have been able to survive the last two years without working seven days a week in menial jobs. 'I started my page in April 2020 when the pandemic hit as I didn't get furloughed for a while. 'I had zero money and was told by a friend who has worked as a stripper for years that people were guaranteed to subscribe because they had watched me in Skins. What is OnlyFans? OnlyFans is a subscription content service based in London. As of 2023, it is thought to have more than 220million registered users and over three million content creators. Sex workers charge monthly fees for access to pictures, videos and more. While popular for porn, the site isn't exclusively designed with that in mind - anyone who wants to build up a fan base and charge them for it can set one up. Celebs like Katie Price and Kerry Katona are popular personalities on the platform. "Whether you're uploading tutorials, tips, behind-the-scenes footage or just endless selfies, a lot of your followers would be willing to pay for them," the company states. For every subscription that's sold to a viewer, performers get 80 per cent of the cash while OnlyFans gets the rest. It isn't limited to adult content, as it has become popular with physical fitness experts and musicians. 'I thought I may as well try and it went very well. I only do what I'm comfortable with and log on when I want to because it takes a lot out of you. 'It's not as emotionally draining as it was working at a strip club because you don't have to become nocturnal, bargain with people over prices and people are shockingly polite. 'They are much kinder than people are in real life. On Instagram, I have some incel (involuntary celibate) 'friends' who write horrendous things just to provoke a reaction. 'It's really fun to ignore them because you know they are desperate for attention and I've been using it to inform my writing. 'I'm in a much more privileged position than some others in the sex industry but for me, it takes away the stress of paying bills and allows me to have the energy to be creative.' Recently, she told how she was fully stripping off on OF to fund her Edinburgh Fringe Festival show last year. 6 Megan has switched up her red-headed look entirely Credit: Channel 4 6 The 32-year-old Londoner has embraced her natural brunette locks Credit: Supplied
