Hubballi: Police rescued five women from a hotel where prostitution was allegedly taking place on Friday. Police commissioner N Shashikumar stated that a raid was conducted at the hotel in Hosur, acting on a tip-off given by Mysuru-based Odanadi Seva Samsthe. "Five women from West Bengal were rescued, and five persons, including the hotel manager, staff, and a customer, were detained," he added. Odanadi founder Stanley mentioned that prostitution was occurring on the second floor of the hotel. "They reserved the ground floor and first floor for customers. Thousands of condoms distributed by the Tamil Nadu health department were seen on the second floor. They also built a tunnel in the toilet, to hide or escape from there. A customer was hiding there during our raid," he said. He added that he informed Nagalaxmi Choudhari, chairman of the Karnataka State Women Rights Commission, about the incident.

Bawana murder: Two from Kapil Sangwan gang in net
New Delhi: A week after Deepak Kumar, nephew of jailed gangster Manjeet Mahal, was shot dead in front of his 10-year-old daughter during a morning walk in northwest Delhi's Bawana, Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested two suspects linked to the rival Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gang following an early morning encounter. The arrests took place near Sector-34 in Rohini, close to the Munak Canal, on Friday. Acting on a tip-off about the movement of two suspects — Sombir alias Chinu, from Hisar, Haryana, and Vijay, 31, from Chandigarh — the Crime Branch laid a trap. As officers closed in, the suspects opened fire. "They were warned to surrender but fired five rounds at the police, one of which misfired. In response, our team fired four rounds," said DCP (Crime Branch) Harsh Indora. The murder was reportedly the result of a longstanding gang rivalry. Kumar was on his routine morning walk near his farmhouse when two men on a motorcycle shot him at close range — allegedly firing eight rounds. He died on the spot. His daughter sustained a gunshot injury to her hand. Police sources confirmed that Kumar was the nephew of notorious gangster Manjeet Mahal and was suspected by the Nandu gang of being actively involved in his uncle's operations. UK-based gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu, who is the subject of a Red Corner Notice, is believed to have ordered the hit after detailed reconnaissance of Kumar's routine. The killing is the latest escalation in the violent feud between the Mahal and Sangwan gangs, which has claimed over a dozen lives across Delhi and Haryana. Investigators believe the murder was an attempt by the Nandu gang to reassert its dominance. Sangwan has previously been named in the murders of a BJP functionary and a builder in Paschim Vihar.
