What is it like on the inside?
It hardly takes an automotive Inspector Clouseau to figure out this car is an extremely close relative of today's R5. The whole of Renault's excellent screen and physical control system is here.
The driver's screen is seven inches in the entry spec and 10.1 inches above that. Another full-size one sits alongside it as the touchscreen. The layout and definition is solidly competitive. In Techno spec it has a Google navigation with an effective EV route planner that calculates the shortest charging time for your trip by figuring out their power and availability. In Evolution spec you're using phone mirroring.

We love the number of physical controls. That includes metallic switches for climate control and stereo volume, and the shortcut switch for ADAS. The driver gets lots of steering-wheel buttons for cruise and display configuration, and because they're not haptic they actually work.
The left-hand stalk is lights and indicators. On the right there are three stalks: one is the drive selector, which needs a long push/pull and often needs a second attempt. Annoying. Another the wipers and the third controls the stereo. Yes, it can take your right fingers a few attempts to tickle the correct one. Still quicker than screen-diving though.
The material quality and fit 'n' finish are both very good. Entry cars get upholstery across the dash and while there are some cheap plastics (notably on the centre console) you'll forgive it for that quickly. Some surfaces are vulnerable to smudge marks, we must admit, and the various cubbies aren't that large. Best make it a can rather than a bottle of Lilt. Speaking of space, will my family fit in it?
If it's small, sure. The R4 is nicely sized, thanks to an extra slice of wheelbase versus the R5. Provided the driver raises their seat a little, there's enough room for the extremities (toes, kneecaps, scalps) of an adult behind them.

There's not much elbow or shoulder room back here though, so longer journeys will be a bit taxing, and the rear bench is squishy but flat. At least there are a couple of USB-C ports to keep devices alive and pass the time.
The boot is a deep 420 litres and the front passenger seat folds forward to take your DIY planks or cello. Knock the seats flat and space rises to 1,405 litres. The flat floor has a dual-split entry (check out the gallery up top), so you can still get at charging cables and whatnot while carrying something bulky. Very sensible.
A section of the bumper lifts with the tailgate, so the floor is quite low. Good for loading dogs and white goods. Though not at the same time.

France's Mistral adds new AI features to rival US chatbots

PARIS, July 17 (Reuters) - French start-up Mistral announced new features to its AI chatbot Le Chat on Thursday as it tries to carve out a place for itself in a global AI race dominated by the United States and China. Often presented as France's and Europe's AI champion, Mistral competes with American giants such as OpenAI and Alphabet's Google, but lags behind in terms of market share or revenues. "We're making Le Chat even more capable, more intuitive — and more fun — with a collection of powerful new features to help you research more thoroughly, express yourself more naturally, and keep your interactions — text, voice, and images — organized in context", said Mistral in a blog post. While Europe's AI champion Mistral's chatbot has been lagging in some advanced features offered by bigger American rivals such as OpenAI and Google, the latest update brings it closer to the options available in the market. Among the new features accessible to anyone using Le Chat, users can talk to Mistral's AI generative model instead of typing through its "Voxtral" model. It can also be used as a research assistant gathering "credible sources" with a "Deep Research" mode. AI models have all been struggling to sort fake news from authentic information. Valued at $6.2 billion by venture capitalists and feted by French President Emmanuel Macron, Mistral gained global exposure at an international AI gathering in Paris in February. Mistral - which formed partnerships with several top French companies such as TotalEnergies, CMA CGM or Orange - is intent on developing its corporate clientele and implementing its models on-premises.

Major provider offering £418 FREEBIE bundle with Samsung Galaxy S24 – deals from £25p/m

IF you're shopping for a new phone, this Samsung deal is hard to ignore. is throwing in a tech bundle worth £418 when you pick up the Galaxy S24, with contract plans starting at just £24.99 a month. BUY HERE Samsung is no stranger to dishing out freebies, and lately, we've seen several generous offers making the rounds. Right now, one of the best comes from on the Samsung Galaxy S24. Plans start from just £14 per month, though that does come with a hefty upfront cost. The standout deal for me is on the iD Mobile network: 500GB of data for just £24.99 per month, and only £99 upfront. That alone is strong value, but you'll also get a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro (worth £179) thrown in free, delivered to the same address as your handset. Already a solid bundle, for a limited time, you can also lay claim to a Samsung Galaxy Watch7 BT, worth £239, at no extra cost. That means you're walking away with a new Android ecosystem and £418 worth of free gear, hard to argue with that. There's no catch either; this deal comes with a top-tier Samsung handset that's still one of the brand's best. The phone boasts a crisp 6.2-inch 2X AMOLED display and a beefy 3880mAh battery, bigger than what Apple's top iPhone offers. Its triple-rear camera setup is equally impressive, enhanced by Samsung's Galaxy AI smarts for better shots. While I haven't tested the device myself, the specs speak for themselves. Our tech team got hands-on with the series in their Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra review and came away impressed by the AI features. As our tech expert Sean Keach noted, the AI can even 'break down lengthy text into a nice quick read.' Sean also noted how the cameras' improved low-light photos produce 'vibrant colours and objects with extreme detail.' With Samsung promising seven years of software updates, the S24 still has a long life ahead and remains a smart Android buy. That said, Samsung has just added a new member to its lineup, the Galaxy S25 Edge. Touted as the thinnest Samsung phone yet, the Edge is a stylish, slightly whimsical option, not for everyone, but certainly eye-catching. Tech editor Jamie Harris tried it out and noted, 'I can't remember the last time I held a phone of this size and power that felt this light.' So if you're after a big screen without the bulk, it's a compelling alternative. Still, if it's top value you're chasing, looking back a generation or two is a smart move, and with freebies like these, it's a no-brainer. To claim your free watch, you'll need to purchase the Galaxy S24 between June 25 and July 29, 2025. Freebies must be claimed within 14 days and will be dispatched within 21 days of a successful claim. The Galaxy Watch redemption closes on August 28, 2025, so don't miss the deadline. And if this deal's not quite your match, check out our roundup of the best SIM-only deals across all major networks for more great savings.
