Officials told to release HNSS waters into Gajuladinne project
The Collector was inspecting the Handri Neeva extension works at Chinnatekur in Kallur mandal on Wednesday. He reviewed the water levels and directed the irrigation officials to launch all precautionary steps to ensure smooth water distribution.
Mr. Ranjith Basha said that water released through the HNSS should result in the supply to 68 tanks en route. He directed the engineers to carefully utilise the inflows into the Krishnagiri reservoir, Pattikonda reservoir, and provide waters to all the ayacut farmers.
The Collector highlighted the urgency of the irrigation waters in view of the Kharif season and warned against delays or lapses in the release of the HNSS waters into the Gajuladinne project. Senior officials of the HNSS project, and from the departments of Revenue, Municipal Administration and Water Resoures were present.

Wayanad remembers landslides victims
Wayanad marked a sombre milestone on Wednesday: the first anniversary of its deadliest natural disaster. Survivors, families the victims, civic officials, State Ministers and local leaders came together at Puthumala graveyard to pay tribute to the over 300 lives lost in the devastating landslides that struck Mundakkai and Chooralmala on July 30 last year. With floral tributes and a multi-faith prayer, they honoured the victims. Grief was palpable as families visited graves. The day reignited memories of the tragic night that ravaged Mundakkai and Chooralmala a year ago. The police led by District Police Chief Taposh Basumatari offered a guard of honour to the victims of the tragedy. Revenue Minister K. Rajan, SC/ST and Backward Classes Welfare Minister O.R. Kelu and Tourism Minister P.A. Mohammed Riyas offered floral tributes to victims. Islamic scholars Mustafa Faizy and Shamsudheen Rahmani, Christian scholars Fr. Dani and Fr. Francis, Hindu scholars P.R. Sreeraj Namboothiri and Babita led the multi-faith prayer. Apart from the Ministers, T. Siddeeque, MLA; district panchayat president Samshad Marakkar; District Collector Meghashree D.R.; Kalpetta municipal chairperson T.J. Isaac; Harrison Malayalam representative Binil John, and several other officials attended a commemoration held later at Meppadi. Addressing the meeting, Mr. Rajan said that 49 more people affected by the tragedy would be considered for the houses being constructed by the government at the Model Township, Kalpetta. A total of 451 beneficiaries will get houses in the township. He said ₹6 crore would be spent for continued medical treatment of those injured in the tragedy. A memorial will be constructed at Puthumala at a cost of ₹93.93 lakh. Mr. Rajan said that the houses in the township would be completed by December 31 if rain did not hamper the construction works. He said a model house was constructed in just about three months and a half. Addressing the media later, Mr. Rajan assured that the government would not divert the ₹700 crore contributed by the people to the State's disaster relief fund. 'The fund is meant solely for the disaster victims,' he said. Mr. Rajan visited the Model Township and evaluated the work in progress along with other government officials.

Police, Forest officials not allowed to enter RoFR land: Deputy CM
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has said that Police and Forest officials were not allowed to enter the lands falling under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) category. He was chairing a review meeting with officials of both Khammam and Bhadradri Kothagudem at the Integrated District Offices Complex in Palvancha on Sunday. The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Animal Husbandry Minister and Khammam district in-charge Vakiti Srihari. It reviewed flood preparedness, implementation of welfare schemes and other key policy initiatives, official sources said. Addressing the review meeting, the Deputy CM said that farmers cultivating RoFR lands would be provided solar pump sets, sprinklers, drip irrigation systems and saplings of fruit crops, free of cost, under the Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam scheme. The flagship scheme will benefit tribal farmers holding land titles under the RoFR Act across the State over the next three years. He emphasised that there is no shortage of urea and the government is taking all the necessary steps to meet the demand for urea in the current kharif season. He directed the officials to prepare plans to promote fish seed farming through women self-help groups in each district. The government is presently releasing 89 crore fish seed into water bodies annually by purchasing them from other areas, he noted, highlighting the vast potential for creation of livelihood and income generating opportunities for women by involving the SHGs in fish seed farming. He asked the officials to submit details of number of saplings planted under Vanamahotsavam programme over the past ten years, expenditure incurred and survival rate. Mr. Vikramarka instructed the officials to ensure quality food is served to students in Welfare and Gurukul schools in strict adherence to the prescribed menu and regular medical check-ups for students.

Utilise PMAGY funds for development of villages, Collector tells officials
Kurnool: District Collector P. Ranjith Basha has directed officials to effectively utilise the funds sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) for the comprehensive development of villages. Addressing a convergence committee meeting with officials concerned on Thursday at the Mini Conference Hall at the Collectorate, the Collector emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts to implement the scheme effectively. Speaking on the occasion, Ranjit Basha stated that the primary objective of the PMAGY scheme was to develop villages with a significant Dalit population. In the first phase of the scheme, three villages were selected and development works were undertaken — including Boddhvanipalle village in Orvakal mandal, Naranapuram and Chagi villages under Adoni mandal and Enugabala in Yemmiganur mandal. He instructed the Social Welfare Department officials to submit utilisation certificates within two days for the works that have been completed. The Collector further announced that nine villages have been selected under Phase 2 of PMAGY. These include Marlamadiki in Holagunda mandal, Nuthanapalle in Pasupula Gram Panchayat of Kurnool mandal, Makadona in Peapully mandal, Nagarur in Aspari mandal, Uppalapadu in Orvakal mandal, Budur in Mantralayam mandal, Gudipadu and K Nagalapuram under Gudur mandal and Machapuram in Nandavaram mandal. He instructed officials to take up proposed development activities in these villages without delay. The development works to be undertaken using PMAGY funds include repairs to school and Anganwadi buildings, addressing filter bed issues related to drinking water, construction of approach roads under Panchayat Raj and R&B sectors, and other essential infrastructure improvements. The Collector emphasised that if there are any existing gaps in the implementation of other schemes, officials should bridge them using PMAGY funds. Officials from various departments including Zilla Parishad CEO Nasar Reddy, Deputy Director of Social Welfare Radhika, SE of Water Resources Balachandra Reddy, ICDS PD Nirmala, RWS SE Nageswara Rao, AP SPDCL SE Umapathi and Additional District Medical & Health Officer Dr Bhaskar Raju were present at the meeting.
