Case against Pawan Kalyan in Tamil Nadu an attack on Sanātana Dharma, says BJP State president Madhav

The Hindua day ago
BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav has condemned the filing of a case against Deputy Chief Minister and JSP president K. Pawan Kalyan in Tamil Nadu, calling it a blatant attack on Sanatana Dharma and equating it to an assault on 'Murugan'.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday, Mr. Madhav lashed out at the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government, accusing it of harbouring anti-Hindu, anti-Vedic sentiments, and carrying out a malicious agenda against temples and cows.
He said, 'Temples are not just places of worship — they are the foundation of our social systems and the very backbone of traditional crafts and livelihoods. Protecting temples and cows is not just a religious duty but a civilizational necessity.'
Mr. Madhav stated that the BJP stands in complete solidarity with Mr. Pawan Kalyan and Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai, noting that both leaders were fighting a principled battle to uphold dharma and constitutional rights.
He described the current regime in Tamil Nadu as one driven by destructive intentions toward Sanatana Dharma, and added that villages with temples must themselves be treated as sacred spaces.
Calling the DMK government a tyranny, he alleged that it had repeatedly targeted sacred institutions, sought to dismantle traditional values, and harboured contempt for the Vedas and Vedic culture.
The recent case filed against Mr. Pawan Kalyan, who extended support to Mr. Annamalai in defending Hindu causes, was, according to Mr. Madhav, 'a political vendetta and a sign of desperation.'
He asserted that the BJP and JSP would fight unitedly, and predicted that the DMK would be decisively defeated in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
BJP NTR district president Adduri Sri Ram, senior leaders Nagothu Ramesh Naidu, Mitta Vamsi, and others were present.

Sri Ram Sene's protest march stopped by police in Belagavi

Belagavi: Hundreds of Sri Ram Sene activists, led by their chief Pramod Mutalik, attempted to launch the 'Ingali Chalo' protest march from Belagavi on Thursday, condemning the recent assault on cow vigilantes at Ingali village in Hukkeri taluk. However, police detained the activists before the march could commence. The protest was in response to the incident where five Sri Ram Sene members were allegedly tied to a coconut tree and assaulted by locals in Ingali village. Belagavi police have since arrested four accused and registered a suo-motu case in connection with the attack. According to Belagavi superintendent of police Dr Bhimashankar Guled, the conflict was triggered after the activists allegedly entered the residence of a Muslim family, causing panic among women inside. He said this intrusion provoked the reaction from villagers. The SP also raised concerns about the background of one of the assaulted individuals, who is a rowdy sheeter, and questioned whether he officially represented the Sri Ram Sene. Rejecting the SP's version of events as 'false' and 'misleading,' Sri Ram Sene launched the 'Ingali Chalo' campaign. Protesters first formed a human chain at Rani Channamma Circle, raised slogans against the govt, and later marched to the deputy commissioner's office to submit a memorandum. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trending in in 2025: Local network access control [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo As they proceeded toward Ingali, police detained several leaders, including district president Gangadhar Kulkarni and Ravikumar Kokitkar. Earlier, while addressing the gathering, Pramod Mutalik condemned the attack on SRS workers, stating, "This is not Pakistan or Afghanistan. Assaulting cow vigilantes in such a Taliban-style manner is unconstitutional. The govt must take strict action. If this repeats, the Hindu community will respond." In response to SP Guled's remarks questioning the involvement of a rowdy sheeter in the vigilante group, Mutalik defended the individual. "Today, police are branding even Hindu activists like Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and Chakravarthy Sulibele as rowdies. This is an attempt to divert public attention from the real issue." He alleged that the administration is trying to protect the accused and suppress cow protection efforts by discrediting the activists.

Centre's pick & choose policy hits HC judge appointments

Representative image NEW DELHI: Advocate Ramaswamy Neelakandan prepared for life as a high court judge by returning case files to clients after the CJI-led Supreme Court collegium on Jan 17, 2023, recommended to Union govt to appoint him, along with four other advocates, including L C Victoria Gowri, as judges of Madras high court. The Union govt appointed all of them as judges, except Neelakandan. Though names of the five advocates were sent by the SC collegium on the same day, the govt appointed them in batches - three on Feb 7, 2023, and the fourth on Feb 27, 2023. Neelakandan, who belongs to the OBC community, shares his fate with 28 other advocates, whose names were recommended to the govt by the collegium between Jan 2023 and April this year. The Centre's pick and choose policy has left them in suspense - whether to resume practice or keep waiting for the Centre's nod to become an HC judge. While Neelakandan's wait has stretched beyond 29 months, advocate Subhash Upadhyay, whose name was recommended by collegium on April 12, 2023, for judgeship in Uttarakhand HC, is waiting for his warrant of appointment for the last 26 months. Along with Upadhyay, the collegium had recommended names of three advocates and a judicial officer for appointment as judges of the HC. Only Upadhyay's name was left out. Like him, advocate Arun Kumar is awaiting action on collegium's May 9, 2023, recommendation for his appointment as Allahabad HC judge. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Birla Evara 3 and 4 BHK from ₹ 1.75 Crore* Birla Estates Learn More Undo On Oct 17, 2023, the collegium recommended the names of five advocates for appointment as judges of Madhya Pradesh HC. Among them, only advocate Amit Seth is still awaiting appointment. Of the 29 advocates still awaiting appointment as HC judges, five are women advocates. Among them, the one enduring the longest wait is advocate Shamima Jahan, whose name was recommended by the collegium on Jan 4, 2024, for appointment as a judge of Gauhati HC. Other women advocates sharing Jahan's fate are Sreeja Vijayalakshmi (name recommended on April 16, 2024), Tajal Vashi (Oct 15, 2024; Gujarat HC), Shwetasree Majumder (Aug 21, 2024; Delhi HC), and Sheetal Mirdha (March 5, 2025; Rajasthan HC). Despite successive chief justices, including the incumbent CJI B R Gavai, impressing upon the Union govt not to pick and choose from the list and avoid making staggered appointments from the same batch, the govt has not abandoned the practice which creates seniority issues in constitutional courts where merit and seniority are two crucial factors for career advancement. Interestingly, the collegium's recommendations for appointment of judges to Supreme Court have been speedily processed and implemented by the govt, in some cases the appointments have come through within three days of the recommendation. The collegium recommended to the govt on May 26 to appoint Justices N V Anjaria, Vijay Bishnoi and A S Chandurkar as judges of the SC. The three took oath as Supreme Court judges on May 30. On May 26, the collegium recommended appointments of chief justices to five HCs, transfers of four HC CJs and transfer and repatriation of 22 HC judges. More than a month later, govt is yet to give effect to the appointments and transfers of HC CJs and judges.

Nationalism card at play, parties follow BJP lead in backing Diljit Dosanjh

Jalandhar: After BJP leaders openly backed Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh , under fire for his film "Sardar Ji 3" starring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, leaders of other parties from Punjab have also voiced support for him. Initially, leaders from parties other than the BJP appeared hesitant to publicly support Dosanjh, arguably Punjab's most prominent singer since Sidhu Moose Wala, as the "nationalism card", especially the Pakistan angle post-Pahalgam terror attack, was played against him. BJP national spokesperson R P Singh was the first to defend Dosanjh, posting his support late at night on May 27. Singh, who described Dosanjh as "a national asset and a global ambassador of Indian culture", received both praise and criticism for his stance. On June 28, Punjab BJP leader and prominent Punjabi film actor Hobby Dhaliwal held a press conference at the Punjab BJP state office to express solidarity with him. On Wednesday, former BJP MP Hans Raj Hans, an accomplished and prominent Punjabi singer, also expressed solidarity with Diljit. After BJP took the lead, Punjab Congress and AAP leaders also spoke up in his support. Leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, MLAs Sukhpal Singh Khaira, and MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa expressed solidarity with Dosanjh on their social media accounts. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is your tinnitus getting worse? Among AAP leaders, Sonia Mann was an early supporter, speaking up around the same time as BJP leaders. Then Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney and Punjab speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan were the prominent leaders who spoke up. Shiromani Akali Dal discussed the issue in the party's core committee meeting on June 30 and expressed solidarity with the singer. The party held that Dosanjh was being unfairly targeted and called for an end to the "politics of hate". MSID:: 122231938 413 |
