The Beach Boys Chart A Debut Top 10 Hit With A Half-Century-Old Song
Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys fame passed away earlier this month at the age of 82. As is typically the case whenever a musical legend dies, the world mourns its loss by returning to the songs and albums that made him a pioneer.
After a truncated tracking week, during which the sad news was revealed, several Beach Boys classics become bestselling tracks in America. The group even collects an initial top 10 smash on one of Billboard's most competitive lists.
The Beach Boys Earn a First Top 10
The Beach Boys debut in the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart this week with 'God Only Knows.' That lovely tune opens at No. 7 on the ranking of the bestselling tracks in the United States. Luminate reports that during the most recent tracking period — which is when people learned of Wilson's passing — the song sold just under 4,200 copies.
The Beach Boys Trail Sabrina Carpenter and Mariah Carey
It's a busy week for new arrivals on the Digital Song Sales chart, and The Beach Boys collect the fifth loftiest debut this time around. The legendary pop-rock outfit trails just behind new singles by Oliver Anthony Music ('Scornful Woman,' No. 2), Sabrina Carpenter ('Manchild,' No. 3), Mariah Carey ('Type Dangerous,' No. 4), and Lil Wayne with Nicki Minaj ('Banned From NO,' No. 5).
'Wouldn't It Be Nice' Also Debuts
The Beach Boys have only ever sent three tracks to the Digital Song Sales chart — and two of them arrive this week. Coming in behind 'God Only Knows' is 'Wouldn't It Be Nice,' which opens at No. 18.
These tunes now rank as the group's highest-performing hits on this particular roster. The only other Beach Boys cut to reach this tally was 'Little Saint Nick,' which showed up on the week dated Christmas Day 2010. At that time, the chart included many more positions than the 25 it features now. That cut only rose as high as No. 63 and spent just one frame on the list before disappearing.
Beach Boys Claim Four Spots on the Rock Chart
The Beach Boys perform even better on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart, where the band fills four spaces. 'God Only Knows' is joined by 'Good Vibrations,' 'Surfin' U.S.A.,' and 'Sloop John B' — all of which land on that genre-specific list for the very first time.

Brie Bella Reveals The ‘Roadblock' In The Way Of Her WWE Return
Brie Bella says there might be something — or someone, rather — getting in the way of her possible return to WWE. Nikki Bella made her WWE in-ring return earlier this year, and she's made subsequent appearances at WWE Evolution and on RAW. When the Bellas do press for their respective projects, one or both are usually asked when Brie will be coming back. Brie Bella has addressed this on a few occasions, claiming that she was just waiting for the phone call from WWE. However, Brie now shared that this particular comment was designed to keep interviews moving. During a new solo-hosting episode of the Nikki & Brie show, Brie was talking about the various 'roadblocks' in her life. 'There's been what I can consider a roadblock, but it's also a good sign. And that's where I make a joke because I've been on red carpets or in interviews. There's one question that I constantly get asked. And it is, 'When will we see you back in the ring?' As if I have that power. And I always make a joke because when I'm in interviews. I don't want to ever answer something serious because usually it's a quick question and they need a quick answer. So I have constantly made the joke, 'Oh, waiting on the call.' Which in some ways, can be true. And in some ways, I am just saying something cheeky and sweet so I can get on to the next question. Brie Bella says her husband in AEW is her roadblock with WWE After mentioning why she answers this way, Brie said she believes the roadblock to her in-ring return is the fact that her husband, Bryan Danielson, is employed by AEW. Brie noted that people are entitled to be uncomfortable with the situation, but she sees it as a potential sign. 'But what I wanted to bring up, because I feel like, ok, it's something that's important in these solo episodes, is to open up to all of you [about] what I'm going through so I can help some of you. But when I look at that, I know my roadblock is the fact that my husband is with the rival company,' Brie Bella said. 'For some people, it makes them uncomfortable at WWE, thinking I would be there while my husband is with AEW. 'And you know what? That's ok,' she continued. 'I've looked at that roadblock as people have the right to feel. If people feel uncomfortable, they're uncomfortable, and that's ok. They have that right. Does it bum me out sometimes when I wish their feelings were different? Absolutely. But, it doesn't make me angry and it doesn't make me bitter. It makes me [realize] that that is a sign that I am supposed to be staying in my 'soft girl era.'
