Perak FC suspends all operations amid financial crisis
Perak FC management, in a statement tonight, announced that it has sent back imported players and paid what it can to the staff and players of the Bos Gaurus squad with the remaining funds.
"All staff and players have been informed that Perak FC will not participate in any league or competition in the coming season.
"The players and coaches are now free to seek opportunities at other football clubs," according to the statement uploaded on its Facebook page.
The team management announced that Perak FC has started its journey by clearing the RM8 million debt left by the previous management and allocating RM10 million annually to manage the club's operations.
"Every cent invested was used only for operating costs and salaries of all four teams, coaches and administrative staff last season.
"After three years or two and a half seasons, with investments exceeding RM40 million, we are very sad to announce that there are no more funds left to allocate," according to a statement from the team's management.
The team's management also informed that they are still managing the team's training equipment and remaining merchandise for sale and are waiting for funds from the Malaysian Football League (MFL) to settle outstanding obligations as best as possible.
"To the players and staff, thank you for your service and dedication throughout your time with Perak FC.
"This is not the end we had hoped for but we have to stand on solid ground and accept the fact that the lack of funds has limited everything, and the time has come for the club to close," the statement said.
On May 22, the media reported that Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) and Perak FC would not be competing in the Super League next season after failing to obtain a national license from the Malaysian Football League (MFL).
Earlier on April 26, Perak FC chairman Datuk Seri Azim Zabidi confirmed that the Bos Gaurus had to withdraw from the Super League next season due to financial issues. - Bernama

Engineer denies soliciting RM13k bribe in Butterworth court case
BUTTERWORTH: An engineer has pleaded not guilty to soliciting a RM13,000 bribe from a company director in a case linked to procurement approvals. Mohamed Rizal Salim, 40, denied the charge during his Sessions Court hearing before Judge Zulhazmi Abdullah. The prosecution alleged that Rizal, then a Grade J41 civil engineer at the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), sought the bribe from HHSB Enterprise director Toh Kean Hin in March 2022. The money was reportedly an inducement to approve procurement works for the company. The offence allegedly occurred at the DID Barat Daya District Engineer's Office. Rizal faces charges under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years' jail and a fine of five times the bribe amount or RM10,000, whichever is higher. Deputy public prosecutor Noor Azura Zulkiflee proposed bail at RM15,000, but the defence argued for a lower sum. Defence counsel Aqmarul Aqil Ismail highlighted Rizal's financial struggles, stating his client supports his wife and four children on a RM6,000 monthly salary while covering rent for two homes, including one for his ailing mother. The court granted bail at RM10,000 with conditions, including monthly MACC reporting and passport surrender. The next mention is set for August 8.

Character building through sports key to holistic education, says S'wak Transport Minister
Lee (centre) pulls the ribbon to release balloons, officially launching SK Tudan's Annual Athletic Meet 2025. MIRI (July 3): Holistic education and character building through sports are vital to producing well-rounded students who excel both academically and in co-curricular activities, said Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin. Speaking at SK Tudan's Annual Athletic Meet 2025 yesterday, he emphasised that education is not confined to the classroom alone, and that co-curricular activities such as athletics offer valuable opportunities for students to develop discipline and teamwork – traits that are essential to both personal growth and academic success. 'Through sports, students learn the value of discipline and the spirit of working together as a team to achieve success. It is through these experiences that they come to understand the importance of unity and collaboration,' he said. The Senadin assemblyman commended the school's headmaster, teachers, and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for their continued efforts in organising meaningful activities, as well as parents for their presence and support in nurturing their children's development. Touching on the importance of education as a cornerstone of national and state progress, Ling urged parents to take their children's education seriously, especially by ensuring consistent school attendance. 'I was informed by the headmaster that some students have been skipping school. If your children are healthy and have no health problems, please make sure they attend school every day. Skipping school will negatively affect their learning,' he stressed. Furthermore, Lee addressed SK Tudan's infrastructural needs and urged the Ministry of Education Malaysia to promptly launch vital projects, including the construction of a new classroom block, new toilet facilities, a canteen, and an administrative block. He also urged the Education Department to expedite these upgrades, especially the replacement of unsafe and dilapidated buildings including old teachers' quarters. 'These are essential improvements to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for our children,' he said. Lee added that since becoming the assemblyman for Senadin, he has consistently allocated annual funds to support the school's operations and minor development projects. This year, he allocated RM20,000 to SK Tudan's PTA, with RM10,000 already disbursed and the remaining to be released soon. He also shared updates on other ongoing projects in the area, including a newly completed covered waiting area for parents to pick up their children, valued at RM100,000, and the pedestrian bridge in front of the school, costing nearly RM7 million. Among those present at the event were SK Tudan headmaster Lim Ai Giok, SK Tudan PTA chairperson Rebecca Bedindang, and Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Lutong chief Henry Jugah. character building Lee Kim Shin SK Tudan sports
