Paramount+ now £3.99 in half price sale ending this week

Daily Mirror12 hours ago
Paramount+ is now cheaper than Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon's Prime Video, offering top series like Tom Hardy's MobLand for half the usual price
Paramount+ has slashed its subscription fees in half in a flash sale that ends this week. The streamer is offering new and returning subscribers its Paramount+ Standard plan for £3.99 per month for three months or £35.49 for a year on an annual plan.
This marks a 50% saving from the usual £7.99 and £70.99 rates. There are also discounts on the Paramount+ Premium plan, now down to £5.49 per month for the first three months or £48.99 on an annual plan.
However, time is running out to secure the discount before it expires on July 10. The deal makes Paramount+ the most affordable streamer compared to rivals like Disney+ (£4.99), Netflix (£5.99), Amazon's Prime Video (£5.99) and Apple TV+ (£8.99).
After the promotional period, the plan will revert to the regular price until cancelled. Both the Paramount+ Standard and Premium plans provide access to the same movies and TV series, with ad-free streaming and the ability to download titles to watch on-the-go.
However, they do have some major differences, as the Premium plan allows simultaneous streaming on four devices compared to two on Standard. Premium also offers higher quality streaming in 4K UHD, HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on select titles, compared to full HD on Standard.
Paramount+ is home to a wealth of top titles, led by recent hits like Tom Hardy's MobLand, Taylor Sheridan's Landman and Ridley Scott epic Gladiator II. On the way this month are Dexter: Resurrection (July 11) and season three of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (July 17).
They join a packed library including shows like Yellowjackets, Yellowstone, South Park, Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown. There's also a host of blockbuster movies from franchises like Mission: Impossible, Star Trek and Transformers, with recent additions such as Smile 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Paramount+ members have left plenty of positive reviews on Trustpilot, where one happy customer said: 'I can't fault the service. Great content, an app that functions and excellent value for money.'
Another said: 'A decent alternative to Netflix. They have a better mix of programming for children and adults. The exclusives like Tulsa King, Yellowjackets or Yellowstone are of higher quality than say Disney's Marvel or Star Wars content and are better critically received.'
This more mixed review said: 'Paramount has some great shows but we often have to give up halfway through any episode because it lags and freezes.'
While another five-star review said: 'Enjoy the line up of new and old shows on Paramount+. This app is a five-star app. Keep up the good work.'

Fans slam 'woke' Disney after noticing MAJOR characters missing from Toy Story 5 preview

Disney and Pixar fans have been left in a panic after they noticed some major characters missing from an alleged new look at Toy Story 5. Pixar first confirmed that a fifth installment to the beloved film series was in the works back in 2023. Now, a new image believed to be a still from the upcoming movie has made its way around the web. And while many were excited about the glimpse into the flick, others were not happy that some of the original toys weren't included in it. The snap showed Jessie standing on a bed and facing a group of toys, which included a slew of Bonnie's playmates like Mr. Pricklepants, Trixie, Dolly, and Buttercup. Some of the playthings that she got from Andy were also there, like Hamm the Pig, Rex, and a bunch of the alien toys. But many of the original squad members from the beloved movies were missing, and fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to discuss their absence in droves. Buzz and Woody were both absent from the photo, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head and Slinky Dog. It was the latter that really caused a stir, as it's already been confirmed that Buzz and Woody will be back for Toy Story 5. Many began to worry that the adorable couple and mischievous slinky would not be in the fifth movie at all, and were quick to slam the animation studio - which was acquired by Disney in 2006 - over the potential cut. 'WHAT HAPPENED TO MR. AND MRS. POTATO HEAD?' one frantic fan asked. 'What happened to the Potato Heads and Slinky Dog?' questioned another. 'Where's Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head?' a different worried X user wondered. 'NO POTATO HEADS THIS IS TERRIBLE,' yelled someone else. Many people theorized that Pixar may have 'retired' the characters since their voice actors have passed away. Don Rickles, who played Mr. Potato Head, died in 2017, while Estelle Harris, who voiced his wife, passed in 2022. 'So did they just retire Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head due to their voice actors having passed away?' read a fifth tweet. 'Their voice actors died, and I guess they didn't want to recast?' a sixth said. 'Actors died so Pixar decided to retire their characters,' theorized another user. 'The Potatoes were beloved, but they were never necessary for the plot.' Disney has taken numerous strides to become more inclusive in recent years - from amending policies at its theme parks to stop staff from using gendered greetings to removing offensive imagery from rides and movies. Most notable is when they removed the seven dwarves during their live-action remake of Snow White, replacing them with 'magical creatures' instead. All of the changes have resulted in Disney earning a reputation for being 'woke,' and some people wondered if Mr. and Mrs. Potato head had been removed for 'woke' reasons. 'We can't even have the Potato Heads back because of woke,' one wrote. 'More woke trash swapping,' scathed another. Many people theorized that Pixar may have 'retired' the characters since their voice actors have passed away Others pointed out that not every character is featured in the new photo so it's still possible that they could still be in the film The fifth installment to the Toy Story series will follow your favorite group of toys facing a new challenge after their eight-year-old owner Bonnie gets an electronic tablet called Lillypad Others, however, pointed out that not every character is featured in the new photo so it's still possible that they could still be in the film. 'Mind you half the cast isn't in this shot so chill,' someone else replied, while another added, 'Obviously not every toy is in that picture.' The fifth installment to the Toy Story series - which will hit theaters on June 19, 2026 - will follow your favorite group of toys facing a new challenge after their eight-year-old owner Bonnie gets an electronic tablet called Lillypad. Toy Story veterans Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cussack - who played Woody, Buzz, and Jessie respectively in the first four flicks - have all confirmed their return. The ending of the fourth Toy Story movie left many people heartbroken as Woody decided to part ways with his longtime pals to stay with his love Bo Peep. But Tim previously told WIVB that Woody will reunite with his character, Buzz, in the new film. He added, however, that the fifth movie will focus a lot more on Jessie. 'I can tell you that it's a lot about Jessie,' he said. 'Tom and I do - Woody and I - do realign.

Liam Payne's heartbroken sister pays tribute to late star with poignant visit to One Direction video location

LIAM Payne's sister has paid an emotional tribute to the late star by visiting the site of a One Direction video. Ruth Gibbins made her way to heritage site Clevedon Pier where the group filmed the video for You & I in 2014. 7 7 7 A small plaque commemorates the recording while another remembers Liam, who died after falling from his hotel balcony in Argentina last October. Ruth shared two pictures from the location in Somerset, alongside poignant lyrics from the song which read: "I figured it out, nothing can come between you and I." Last month Ruth paid another tribute to her brother after watching his new Netflix show, Building The Band. Liam's final TV project, which sees him working as a talent show judge, features a host of music stars including Kelly Rowland and AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys. It was filmed just months before Liam fatal fall and his family was given the final sign-off on how he appeared in the show. Liam appears from episode seven, and the series will be released this Wednesday. Ruth, 33, watched Building The Band ahead of its release, and took to Instagram to share how "proud" she is of her beloved brother. She said: "I didn't know whether to share this but it felt weird when I've raved about Liam's work and achievements for the last 15 years. "I'm heartbroken he never got to see how great he is in this show. "He knew he had done a good job, we all told him this when we were at filming, but watching it back, wow! Continuing the emotional message, Ruth said: "You're a star Liam, you always were and always will be. "There are a range of emotions I felt watching this, but one of the main ones is immeasurable pride, always. "Miss you more every day." LIAM'S LAST SHOW In the trailer, Liam tells one act: 'You've got a lot of work to do vocally — I need to feel that connection between you guys.' In another scene he is seen seemingly referring to his own One Direction past when he says: 'How these bands are put together is not normal — we were not put together that way.' The show brings together 50 musicians who have to form six bands, without ever seeing each other in person. They perform in individual booths and have to pick one another based on singing ability and compatibility alone. It shares similarities to how Liam's band One Direction was formed on The X Factor in 2010. 7 7 7
