Knowledge of legal rights must for eliminating social inequalities, says Sathya Sai SP
Superintendent of Police V. Ratna inaugurated the programme and addressed a gathering of students, villagers and police personnel. The SP said the Indian Constitution bestows upon every citizen the right to equality, freedom and protection from suppression and exploitation. She called for eliminating discrimination of all kinds to achieve true social justice. 'Every citizen must understand and exercise their legal rights,' the SP said.
Ms. Ratna observed that during the past six months, awareness programmes connected to the importance of Civil Rights Day were organised across the district. She thanked officials, students, police and village elders for their cooperation in conducting the camps to educate the public. 'It's the responsibility of everyone to eliminate social inequalities, and this alone can create a society of true equality,' Mr. Ratna said.
Deploring the still-prevalent practice of child marriage, the SP said this social aberration was a punishable offense. Ms. Ratna highlighted a plethora of government welfare schemes and the economic sustenance programmes of NGOs for the underprivileged in society, vulnerable to the scourge of child marriages.
The SP called upon women, particularly those working and in colleges, to download the Shakti App on their mobiles, as this would protect them from any external attacks from the miscreants.
Senior officials from the Women and Child Welfare, police, revenue and panchayat raj departments attended the event.

Gods return to their abodes as 3 idol thieves land in cops' custody
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Central Crime Station (CCS) LB Nagar along with Ibrahimpatnam Police apprehended three persons involved in the idol theft. Police seized several idols worth a total of Rs 5.36 lakh from them. The arrested persons were Karacha Sivananda (52), of Kurnool, and Sk Ham Shareef (38) of Prakasam District and idol receiver Akkapalli Kranthi Kumar (31) of Uppal. The arrested persons were arrested at Mangalpally X road on Wednesday. Police registered a U/s 303 (3), 305 BNS. Police seized 13 idols of panchaloha and other materials total worth Rs 5.36 lakh. According to police, Sivananda came to Hyderabad for eking livelihood by doing labour work and staying in rented room since 6 months at NGO Colony Vanasthalipuram, whereas Shareef is homeless and moving in LB labor addas. Both the accused got acquaintance with each other at labor addas. Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu said Sivananda hatched a plan to commit idols theft in temples. As per their plan they need a vehicle to go to villages and for easy escape. 'In order to proceed with their plan both started moving in villages of Yacharam and Ibrahimpatnam mandal for recce by hiring an auto. On February 27, they committed theft of 4 Temple Bells in Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple & Sivalayam at Gandlaguda of Yacharam mandal. And on June 15 they went to Mallanna Swamy temple of Upparaguda village, Ibraheempatnam Mandal and committed theft of Pustela thadu (100 mg weight) and 2 Deepam stands.' Similarly, they have stolen idols, bells and hundies in various temples in Yacharam and Ibrahimpatnam police station limits. On Wednesday, on information, CCS LB Nagar and Ibrahimpatnam police apprehended the offenders at Mangalpally X road at 8:30 am and recovered the stolen property from the accused total worth Rs 5,36,300 from them.

Security heightened in UP's Moradabad ahead of Muharram and Kanwar Yatra, CCTV cameras installed
Ahead of Muharram and Kanwar Yatra, security has been heightened and CCTVs installed in Moradabad. SP City, Ranvijay Singh, said that arrangements had been made for both occasions using technology. The Kanwar Yatra will start from July 11, and the Moradabad police aim was to make it successful.(Representational) SP City, Ranvijay Singh said, "We have made all the arrangements for the Muharram and Kanwar Yatra. All the homework has been done. All the peace committee meetings have been held in all police stations. We have held a meeting with all the stakeholders. Internal departmental coordination has also been done. We have accessed the route for Tazia, and the problems have been addressed. We want the Muharram procession to be successful. He further said that the Kanwar Yatra will start from July 11 and the aim was to make it successful. "There are two important routes in Moradabad. We have made all the preparations for these two routes. The devotees come from Haridwar and Garhmukteshwar. We have had a meeting with NHAI. We have done meeting with the leaders of both the camps. We are using technology in this regard. CCTVs have been installed in the routes of 'Tajia' and Kanwar Yatra," the SP said. He further said that dark spots have been identified, and the arrangements are being done in consultation with the concerned authorities. "We will also use drones. Drones are very helpful. We will use drones to facilitate the movement of the Kanwar Yatris, especially the three days, including Monday. The Muharram procession is on July 6, and we will use technology so that no one creates any problems. If there will be any non-compliance, then we will take strict action. If anyone posts outrageous messages on social media, then tough action will be taken. All the arrangements have been done using technology to conduct both the festivals successfully," he added. Muharram holds significant religious importance for Shia Muslims. In India, the 7-8 crore Shia Muslim community, along with people of different religions, participate in large processions and tazias. In the Kanwar Yatra procession, Kanwariyas collect water from a river and carry it hundreds of kilometres to offer it to the shrines of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu beliefs, Parshuram, a devotee of Shiva and Lord Vishnu's avatar, participated in the initial procession. Devotees across the country perform worship, fasting and pilgrimage dedicated to the Lord Shiva. (ANI)
