The stand will be known as 'The Pat Stanton Stand' going forward in the ultimate tribute to a Hibs icon.
Stanton, 80, starred for the Hibees between 1963 and 1976, playing for his boyhood club.
He played 617 times and scored 78 times during his stellar spell and is widely regarded as one of the club's greatest ever players.
Stanton helped Hibs to incredible wins in Europe against the likes of Napoli and Sporting Lisbon and won the League Cup in 1973.
His playing career ended with a two-year spell with Celtic while he was also capped 16 times by Scotland.
Stanton also managed Hibs between 1982 and 1984, having previously worked for a season under Sir Alex Ferguson at Aberdeen.
The stand will be officially renamed when Hibs host German club Rot-Weiss Essen at Easter Road next Wednesday.
His name will appear at the top of the East Stand.
Hibs chairman Ian Gordon said the gesture was a way to honour Stanton's "amazing contribution" to the club.
Gordon said: 'It's with great pride and pleasure that we are honouring Pat Stanton's amazing contribution to Hibernian FC and Scottish football during our anniversary season.

'The Pat Stanton Stand will serve as a lasting tribute to his achievements and legacy, inspiring future players and supporters for many years to come.
'On behalf of everyone associated with Hibs – the fans, the board, the staff, the players, the entire Hibernian Family – I would like to thank Pat for everything he's done for the club.'

Full extent of Jamal Musiala injury as Bayern Munich star gets layoff prognosis

Bayern Munich and Germany star Jamal Musiala picked up a sickening injury during his side's Club World Cup clash with Paris Saint-Germain and looks set to be sidelined for an extended period Jamal Musiala will miss the majority of next season after suffering a horrific leg break. The Bayern Munich star was involved in a brutal collision with Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the Club World Cup. It was immediately clear that the 22-year-old had picked up a serious injury as was stretched off the pitch in agony. ‌ And having put him through testing for the issue, Bayern have revealed how long Musiala will be out for. A statement from the German giants confirmed that the midfielder had 'sustained a fracture of the fibula associated with a broken and dislocated ankle' and had flown back to Munich ahead of corrective surgery. ‌ "This serious injury and the long absence are a real shock for Jamal and all of us. This hits FC Bayern hard," Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl added. "Everyone knows how immensely important Jamal is for our game and what a central role he plays for our team. Furthermore, the human impact is incredibly bitter; we all feel for him: Jamal has just recovered from an injury and will now be out for another long period. "He will get everything he needs from us. We will support him intensively and be by his side, and we are already looking forward to him being back on the pitch." Bayern icon Manuel Neuer was critical of Donnarumma for his reaction after being involved in the incident. He said: "You just accept that your opponent might get injured. It could even be a team-mate. "So I went over to him and said: 'Don't you want' - because it was half-time anyway - 'don't you want to go over there? Jamal is lying there, he'll probably stay in the hospital, he has a serious injury, and I think it's only right to go over there out of respect and wish him well and just say a little sorry.' ‌ Who will win the Club World Cup? Share your thoughts in the comments below "After that, he went over to Jamal. Fairness is always important, and I would have reacted differently." Musiala's injury comes after a stunning season for Bayern. He had scored 21 goals and notched eight assists in all competitions - a record that includes three goals at the Club World Cup. He might look to a fellow star at the tournament for a little bit of advice following a similar injury. Chelsea star Wesley Fofana sustained a horrendous leg break in 2021 when playing for Leicester. The Frenchman ended up being ruled out for around seven months, missing around 63 matches in all. Bob MacIntyre and Rory McIlroy's unforgettable GSO Renaissance memories as top golf stars gear up for £8m cracker

Renaissance recollections build the anticipation for Scottish showpiece Defending champion Bob MacIntyre created another unforgettable Renaissance memory with his stunning Genesis Scottish Open success 12 months ago. The Oban hero's brilliant triumph backed up more magical moments, following elite stars Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy triumphs in East Lothian. ‌ But, as the shimmering East Lothian venue gets set for the best-ever staging of the elite event, the tournament's title sponsor is invested on making more magic and scaling even higher peaks in the future. ‌ MacIntyre, McIlroy, Schauffele and World No.1 Scottie Scheffler headline the hotly anticipated 2025 staging of the £8million cracker on the coast. Once more, a special field is converging on Scotland and, while excited for the week ahead, Genesis Brand Advisor Graeme Russell is adamant the drive for better year-on-year will never cease. Looking ahead to the four incredible days, Russell was asked if it feels like the best-ever and responded: 'I think you're right. The sense I get being here in Scotland, getting to talk to a lot of golf fans , the anticipation and expectation has built every year. 'There's the quality of the field. The world's top five, eight of the Top 10 and 13 of the top 20 based on the latest OWGR. It's fantastic. Last year it was the fifth-strongest field in all of men's professional golf and so, yes, that anticipation builds. 'I think it creates excitement and energy from day one of the tournament and there's also a familiarity that everyone now has coming to the Renaissance Club. You have memories. You recall great moments, which can be the great shots. Two years ago, Rory with his two-iron and Bob, I think it was his five-wood. And of course, last year, Bob's approach to the 18th green and winning putt. All of those memories have a cumulative effect. ‌ 'I think the tournament has really truly established itself as the national Open and I think all the stakeholders are very vested in seeing that grow. We've been very lucky with the calibre, not just of the fields that have come, but also the calibre of the winners.' The cream has risen consistently to the top as Russell continued: 'Xander Schauffele winning in 2022, had to battle on the final round in challenging links golf conditions and that, in my mind and I'm sure that of many others, had a positive influence on his ability to win at Troon last year. ‌ 'Rory, of course, winning in Scotland for the first time and then obviously Bob last year. Just in the last three years and even before that, a great calibre of winner. 'I remember looking at the leaderboard on Sunday morning last year and it was just an international who's who of golf. Adam Scott up there, golfers from Korea, from the US and then, ultimately from that pool, emerged Bob. 'Not just winning his national Open, but who he beat to win that title, he'll possibly reflect on that in the years to come and say: Wow that was a hugely important win on many fronts. Tom Kim, Ben An, Sungjae Im, and others have come over and developed an appreciation for links golf and played very well in the tournament. There's certainly a handful of great golfers who could win this year. ‌ "There's a great sense of partnership and collaboration between the key stakeholders. You have the co-sanctioning between the DP World Tour and PGA Tour and that's hugely significant for the field. You've got a great host venue in the Renaissance Club and the Sarvadi family and everything they invest to host the tournament. 'You've got Visit Scotland who are backing these important events here in Scotland, their support for the Genesis Scottish Open is critical and then, of course, Genesis. It's a pleasure to be a part of the tournament as the title sponsor and to watch first hand, alongside the other key stakeholders, just how we've been able to collectively take the tournament to new heights. 'We'd like to think we've brought a real focus on hospitality and how we look after everyone, players, caddies, their families, fans, spectators, obviously the guests we host from around the world and create a welcoming tournament atmosphere and environment, which of course sits the week before the Open, which is also a key element. 'So, I think, all in all, that summarises where we feel we're at as we look ahead to this year's Genesis Scottish Open, and with room to continue to elevate the tournament in the years to come.' Genesis is the title sponsor of the Genesis Scottish Open, the first ever co-sanctioned event by DP World Tour and the PGA Tour. For more information visit

Aryna Sabalenka's impressive grand slam streak goes on at Wimbledon

The world number one is yet to drop a set but has been pushed in all of her matches so far, with her latest scrap seeing her overcome former doubles partner Mertens 6-4 7-6 (4). There was not the same sense of jeopardy as there had been in Sabalenka's late-night duel with Emma Raducanu in the third round, with the top seed never behind but unable to shake off Mertens until the second-set tie-break. 'Roland Garros was also quite challenging,' said Sabalenka, who has now made at least the quarter-finals on her last 11 appearances at grand slams. 'I love these challenges. I think every time you go through these tough matches, you kind of bring your game to the next level, and it helps to improve your game as well. 'I feel like, with every match I'm playing here, I'm getting better and better mentally and also physically. So I love these tough challenges. I only hope to get better and better in each round.' The victory was her 46th of the season – way ahead of any other player, with only four women managing more wins in the whole of 2024. Aryna Sabalenka hits a backhand (Adam Davy/PA) Sabalenka is extending her lead at the top of the rankings with every success having missed Wimbledon last year through injury, but she is desperate to add a fourth grand slam title to her CV after heartbreaking losses in the finals of the Australian Open and French Open this year. She is yet to reach a Wimbledon final but it would be a huge shock if she falls before then this year, with numerous upsets on her side of the draw meaning she finds the unlikely figure of Laura Siegemund awaiting her next. The 37-year-old German had won only two singles matches here in her career prior to this year but made it through to the last eight with a 6-3 6-2 victory over Argentinian lucky loser Solana Sierra. Siegemund has an unusual game based on heavy slice and attacking the net, and she insisted she will not be fazed by facing Sabalenka. Laura Siegemund is a surprise quarter-finalist (John Walton/PA) She said: 'Of course I am surprised. If you would have told me I play quarter-finals here, I would have never believed it. 'On the other hand, it's a very simple math always in tennis. You have an opponent, either you find good solutions and you execute well, you go forward, or you don't, and you don't go forward. 'As I said after big wins before, I have this game and this maybe boldness to take out big names. I've always had that, just maybe because I don't care who is on the other side. In a positive, respectful way, I don't care.' It is proving to be a good tournament for the veterans, with 34-year-old Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova ending a nine-year wait to make a second quarter-final by seeing off Britain's Sonay Kartal 7-6 (3) 6-4. In the last eight, Pavlyuchenkova will take on 13th seed Amanda Anisimova, who reached this stage of Wimbledon for the second time with a 6-2 5-7 6-4 victory over young Czech Linda Noskova.
