Kansas City Chiefs C Creed Humphrey ranks 93rd on the 2025 NFL Top 100 list

USA Today11 hours ago
Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey has been one of the league's most dominant players, and his selection on the "NFL Top 100" program was certainly warranted after consistent success at his position.
Many Chiefs fans believe the No. 93 ranking seems low, but the veteran offensive lineman continues to garner respect for his consistent play. Since being drafted out of Oklahoma in 2021, he's been a solidifying presence for the unit.
Humphrey has been named an All-Pro twice and selected to the Pro Bowl three times since the start of his rookie season. The two-time Super Bowl champion led all centers in offensive snaps with 1,112 last season.
Before the start of the 2024 season, Humphrey agreed to a four-year, $72 million extension with a $50 million guarantee to remain with the Chiefs.
Produced by NFL Films, the NFL Top 100 will feature three to five-minute episodes highlighting the league's top 100 players, voted on exclusively by current NFL players. Episodes will debut weekdays at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. ET on X and NFL+ through Friday, August 29th.

David Peterson bounces back in huge way to lead Mets to series win over Brewers

Try it free A good start can do a lot. It can provide cover for holes in the bullpen. It can serve as camouflage for an offense that is not hitting on all cylinders. The Mets had not had one of those good starts since David Peterson was pitching like the Peterson who was making a strong case for an All-Star Game nod in the first 2 ¹/₂ months of the season. On Thursday, that Peterson reappeared and reminded that the biggest difference between the sailing Mets and the free-falling Mets has been a rotation that had fallen apart over the past few weeks. 4 David Peterson, who allowed two runs in 6²/₃ innings, throws a pitch during the Mets' win over the Brewers on July 3, 2025. Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post After two consecutive duds, Peterson was once again excellent and lengthy in guiding the Mets to a series-clinching and well-played 3-2 victory over the Brewers in front of a loud, sellout crowd of 42,241 at Citi Field. CHECK OUT THE LATEST MLB STANDINGS AND METS STATS The Mets (50-38) finally won a series — their first since sweeping the Nationals way back from June 10-12 — and pulled out just a fifth game in their past 19, building momentum for the Queens portion of the Subway Series that begins Friday. 4 Pete Alonso celebrates after hitting the go-ahead double in the sixth inning of the Mets' win over the Brewers on July 3, 2025. Robert Sabo for New York Post Among the many issues facing the Mets, the largest has been a rotation that has been battered both by injuries and opposing batters. Before Peterson battled for 6 ²/₃ innings Thursday, manager Carlos Mendoza had not seen his starting pitcher survive six innings since … Peterson went seven innings in Atlanta on June 17. From June 18 through Wednesday, the Mets' rotation posted a 5.96 ERA that was the third-worst in MLB while tallying 54 ¹/₃ innings, the third-least. Included in that stretch were two Peterson starts, one in Philadelphia and one in Pittsburgh, in which he allowed 10 runs in 8 ²/₃ innings. 4 Juan Soto rips an RBI single during the sixth inning of the Mets' win over the Brewers. Robert Sabo for New York Post 'On Petey I'm not concerned. This is a very good major league starter,' David Stearns said of Peterson, whose slump is over after allowing two runs (one earned) while scattering five hits, walking three, striking out four and inducing ground balls at will against a solid Milwaukee offense. The big bats in the Mets' offense did enough to ensure his work mattered. Check out more newsletters Brandon Nimmo lasered a homer for a second straight day to seize a lead in the second inning, an edge that would disappear on an unearned run in the fourth. Rhys Hoskins lined directly to second baseman Brett Baty, who went to his knees and watched the ball graze off his glove for an error. With two outs and runners on the corners, Caleb Durbin hit a slow roller that just got by Peterson, and Mark Vientos' throw was too late on an infield single that tied the game. 4 Brandon Nimmo belts a solo homer in the second inning of the Mets' win over the Brewers. Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post But the Mets went ahead to stay with a two-run sixth, when the top of the order — new-look leadoff hitter Starling Marte, Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto and Pete Alonso — stitched together four straight hits, Soto's single and Alonso's double off the wall in left-center driving in the runs. Peterson allowed a second run in the seventh, when Andruw Monasterio turned on a four-seamer that was not far enough inside for a home run. But Ryne Stanek (1 ⅓ dominant innings with three strikeouts) and Edwin Díaz (18th save, with some help from a perfect throw to second from Luis Torrens and a perfect tag from Lindor that caught Christian Yelich stealing) ensured the Brewers got no closer.

Aaron Judge draws 23rd intentional walk, matches Mickey Mantle's 1957 Yankees record

Associated Press TORONTO (AP) — New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge drew his 23rd intentional walk of the season in the eighth inning Thursday night against Toronto, matching Mickey Mantle's 1957 team record. Baseball began tracking intentional walks in 1955. Judge matched Albert Pujols (2010) as the only player to receive 23 free passes before the All-Star break. Toronto led 6-5 when former Yankee Chad Green intentionally walked Judge with two outs and the bases empty. It was Judge's fifth intentional walk of the series, the most ever by a Yankee in a single series. Judge has 91 career intentional walks. ___ AP MLB: recommended in this topic

Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff scheduled to return Sunday in Miami

Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff is scheduled to make his long-awaited return to the majors this weekend in Miami. The two-time All-Star planned to throw a bullpen Thursday at Citi Field before Milwaukee's game against the New York Mets. He is lined up to start Sunday against the Marlins in the finale of a three-game series. Woodruff hasn't pitched in the big leagues since undergoing shoulder surgery after the 2023 season. He is 46-26 with a 3.10 ERA in 115 career starts and 15 relief appearances. The 32-year-old right-hander left his first rehab stint this year with tendinitis in his right ankle. He was pitching for Triple-A Nashville again on June 3 when a 108 mph line drive struck him in the right elbow, leaving a bruise that delayed his return. 'He's such a big part of the Brewers organization,' manager Pat Murphy said. 'I'm really excited for him.' ___ AP MLB: recommended
