Notre Dame commit Dylan Faison reaffirms his pledge to the Fighting Irish

USA Today2 days ago
Notre Dame's first commitment in the 2026 recruiting class doesn't intend to change his plans any time soon.
St. Andrew's School (Boca Raton, FL) senior Dylan Faison, the brother of current Fighting Irish junior wide receiver Jordan Faison, pledged to the Fighting Irish in March of 2024 and does not plan on changing allegiances despite Miami extending a scholarship offer in early June.
Boca Raton being so close to Miami may have Notre Dame fans concerned, but the 5-foot-11, 170-pound Faison affirms he is "100 percent locked in" with the Irish.
Like Jordan, Dylan also plans to play lacrosse in South Bend. He is ranked as the Class of 2026's No. 1 lacrosse recruit in the country, per Inside Lacrosse.

Former Texas A&M safety is headed to Auburn after a year in the transfer portal

Texas A&M's historic 2022 recruiting class has all but dissipated, and while nearly all of the 20-plus players in the cycle have found new homes or have moved on to the NFL or another line of work, former starting safety and four-star Louisiana prospect Jacoby Matthews has been in the transfer portal for over a year, but has reportedly finally found his next playing destination. According to Auburn On3 recruiting insider Jeffrey Lee, Mathews is headed to join the Auburn Tigers for the 2025 season, bringing the length, speed, and defensive instincts that earned him the starting free safety job during the 2023 season, when he finished with 42 tackles, an interception, and four pass deflections. After former head coach Jimbo Fisher was dismissed from the program at the end of the 2023 season, Mathews, who had a chance to retain his starting role under Mike Elko, chose to go in a different direction due to the defensive schematic changes. Standing at 6'2" and over 200 pounds, Mathews has a chance to make an impact next season with the Tigers in the secondary, given the youth, as a redshirt sophomore, Sylvester Smith is slated to start at free safety, but that could now change with Mathews in the fold. After not playing last season, Mathews will need to get back up to speed and will likely work his way into the safety rotation. Either way, the potential is there, and Auburn should have one of the more stout SEC defences this fall. Iowa basketball great Luka Garza inks deal with perennial NBA powerhouse

Fan-favorite former Hawkeye Luka Garza has a new home in the NBA. Monday was the first official day of NBA free agency and saw a flurry of moves occur within a few hours. Big trades and huge contracts took up most of the headlines, but Iowa fans were all curious to see where Garza would end up. And it didn't take long for that answer to come. After three seasons in Minnesota with the Timberwolves, Garza became a free agent and inked a deal with one of the most prominent franchises in the league: the Boston Celtics. Last season with the Timberwolves, Garza appeared in 39 regular season games, averaging 3.5 points per game. Across four NBA seasons, Garza is averaging 4.9 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. Garza joins a Celtics team moving in an entirely different direction for the 2025-26 season with star Jayson Tatum out for the year with an Achilles injury. Boston moved on from Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis this offseason and now have brought in Garza. There's a chance Garza will get to compete for real minutes in Boston this season. Their center depth is weak right now, with 39-year-old Al Horford entering free agency and Neemias Queta joining Garza as the other center on the roster. The former Naismith Award winner and two-time Big Ten Player of the Year might get a chance to show off his entire skill set in Boston this season. Steelers CB Jalen Ramsey revealed what jersey number he'll wear in Pittsburgh

Roll out the red carpet, Pittsburgh — former Dolphins superstar CB Jalen Ramsey has arrived! The Steelers shocked the NFL world with their blockbuster acquisition on Monday — and it didn't take long for Ramsey to reveal what number he'd wear in Pittsburgh: No. 5. Ramsey wore No. 20 with the Jaguars and Rams, but switched to No. 5 when the new NFL jersey rule came into effect in 2021 — which allowed more positions to wear single-digit numbers. The Steelers will lean on Ramsey, Darius Slay Jr., and Joey Porter Jr. to carry the Black and Gold secondary — a trio of talented defensive backs that will definitely have their hands full in a competitive AFC North environment.
