Dune fans overjoyed by latest revelation about third film
Denis Villeneuve 's epic adaptation of Frank Herbert's influential sci-fi saga has proven to be a huge hit for the director and Warner Bros, with Dune: Part Two earning more than $700m (£555m) worldwide and five Oscar nominations.
Although the last film concluded the first novel, Villeneuve has expressed a desire to make the second book, Dune Messiah into a film to wrap up Paul Atreides' character arc.
R eports from April 2024 stated that the project was already in development. A name for the film is yet to be confirmed.
Deadline now reports that shooting is expected to begin this summer, but June is considered to be too early with a mid-late summer start being seen as more feasible.
The film will likely see Zendaya return as Chani. But the production might have to work around her busy 2025 schedule, which includes Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, a fourth Spider-Man film and Euphoria season 3.
Shooting locations are yet to be confirmed but the two previous films were made in Hungary, Jordan and Abu Dhabi.
Although the information on Dune 3 is thin at the moment, this latest revelation has fans excited.
'Man if Messiah is any good as the previous, it deserves Best Picture,' said one person.
Another fan wrote: 'It's still crazy to me that we will have seen three Dune movies in the span of 5 years. I can't wait to see this version of Messiah, likely in Winter 2026 (which is years earlier than I had ever dared expect). This is going to be such a heartbreaking finale to the trilogy.'
A third enthusiastic fan added: 'Villeneuve is about to cook again. Give this man unlimited budget and creative freedom!'
The second novel is set 12 years after the events of the first book, with Atreides still serving as Emperor of the Known Universe having unleashed the Fremen's deadly jihad on the galaxy, leaving billions dead.
Atreides, though, begins to realise that despite his position he has become powerless to stop the excessive religious violence that he has authorised.
The novel also sees a bigger role for Paul's sister, Alia, who was briefly played by Anya Taylor-Joy in the previous film. It also curiously sees the return of the previously dead Duncan Idaho, who was played by Jason Momoa in the first film.

Only recently, website What's On Netflix named both of these titles as two of the best five performing new shows so far this year. This hasn't helped save them, despite other series such as Bad Thoughts and Bet gaining fewer views yet they have already been handed second season renewals. The Residence was a murder mystery whodunnit compared to film series Knives Out set inside the White House. It managed around 15 million views in its first two weeks of being released. While its first series was a self contained story, it had been reported that the idea was it could become an anthology series with Cupp returning to take on new cases in follow up seasons. Pulse was Netflix's first English language medical procedural. As soon as its trailer was released to fans, it was hailed as the streamer's answer to Grey's Anatomy. It also managed around 15 million views in its first two weeks of being released. According to its synopsis, the series follows the personal and professional lives of emergency and surgical residents at Maguire Hospital, a level-one trauma center in Miami during the race for Emergency Medicine Chief Resident. It shows the aftermath of a sexual harassment complaint while the city is hit with a hurricane and an influx of patients. Despite the first season finale ending with multiple cliffhangers, fans will no longer find out what happens next. It has apparently been placed on indefinite hiatus and it is currently unknown whether or not it would return for a second season. While Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow led the series, like The Residence it was expected to be turned into an anthology and could have featured new characters. Fans have not taken this latest news well. Many have shared their displeasure at another round of cancellations of shows which they believed had performed well. Responding to the news, one fan posted on social media saying: "The Residence was a great show. I'm seriously not happy about this cancellation." Charlize Theron has spoken candidly about her sex life aged 49, revealing she recently had sex with a 26-year-old man – and it was 'f***ing amazing'. Netflix fans fume after outrageous murder-mystery is axed
Netflix viewers are in mourning after the streamer cancelled one of its 'best shows', The Residence, in a shock move. The eight-episode murder-mystery series starred Orange is the New Black actor Uzo Aduba as Detective Cordelia Cupp who must get to the bottom of a murder at the White House. After coming out in March, fans have had nothing but praise for the quirky show with an eccentric cast of characters, including pop icon Kylie Minogue herself as well as Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito, Always Be My Maybe's Randall Park. In fact, people were rooting for multiple seasons of the show with our bird-obsessed detective solving a new mystery every time, Knives Out style anthology series. With an 85% Rotten Tomatoes score and a tidy 6.4 million views in the first four days alone – there's no denying there was appetite for more. Unfortunately, the Shonda Rhimes show won't be making a grand return to screens with Netflix axing it. The show was undeniably an expensive endeavour for the streamer featuring the biggest ever recreation of the White House built on seven stages and featured 10 miles of moulding, 200 working doors and 144,000 pounds of flooring. Per Deadline, sources say that there had been discussion to reduce the budget for a second season, which ultimately didn't work out. Over on Reddit, fans were complaining about the decision. 'That's a bummer! I really enjoyed her character. I liked the backstory flashbacks a lot too. I thought there was a lot to work with in further building her character,' user runamokamok said. 'I liked this show a lot more than I would've thought. Sucks its been canceled but at least we had a complete series with an ending,' SilverRoseBlade wrote. 'Why does Netflix only cancel quality shows like this?? That was genuinely so fun and thrilling,' kjsah9026 shared. 'This is on brand for Netflix. One minuscule consolation is that at least the plot of season one is contained with a satisfying resolution, which means fans won't have to deal with a devastating cliffhanger that never gets answered. Alongside The Residence, another fresh show on the platform, Pulse, about a group of ER doctors navigating crisis after crisis at a Miami hospital, has also been cut. Meanwhile, Netflix thriller No Good Deed, which came out in December starring Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano, has been paused indefinitely. Netflix has a track record for prematurely cancelling TV shows and evoking uproar among fans. In 2023, co-CEO Ted Sarandos told Bloomberg the metric by which they measure whether a show gets that all-important greenlight. 'We have never cancelled a successful show. A lot of these shows were well-intended but talk to a very small audience on a very big budget.
