So, imagine getting in a fight with someone in the most public way possible. Everyone knows you're beefing. It's been you vs. the other guy for a little more than a year now. People have picked sides and hunkered down.
You'd like to think that the folks from your hometown would pick your side, right? Especially if, throughout your entire career, you've gone out of your way to show them love whenever you could. Of course, when the moment comes, you'd like to think they love you back.
That certainly isn't what happened for Drake last night.
THEY NOT LIKE US: The Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef, explained
Kendrick Lamar brought the GNX Tour, aka the Drake Hatefest, to Toronto on Thursday night. He had every person in the Rogers Centre screaming every word of Not Like Us with every fiber of their being. It was a pure display of hatred that I'm not sure I've ever seen before.
WARNING: There is some NSFW language in this video
This isn't supposed to happen. Drake is supposed to be Toronto's golden boy. This isn't supposed to happen.
This would be like Drake coming to LA and having the crowd curse Kendrick until they couldn't anymore. The crowd has so much fun cracking down on their hometown hero that they actually asked for an encore once it was all over and done with.
You could probably make a credible argument that Kendrick Lamar is, in fact, milking this Drake thing. The beef started more than a year ago and it's been over for a while. Really, it was over as soon as Drake got lawyers involved. If it wasn't over then, it was definitely over at the Super Bowl. If it wasn't over at the Super Bowl, it's definitely over now after the Toronto takeover.
But I think the only people who'd argue that Kendrick is doing too much with this are the people who have never had enemies in their lives. And, honestly, good for those people! Having enemies sucks. But let me tell you something. If you ever get one-up on your enemy? You never let them live it down. Especially when your one-up is this big.
The truth is, Kendrick is never going to stop performing Not Like Us. And it honestly doesn't seem like his fans want him to at this point.
Sorry, Drake. The party is still going at your expense, buddy. Even at the crib.
Is this the end for Russ?
The Russell Westbrook era in Denver is over. The future Hall of Famer declined his player option for next season and is officially a free agent, according to NBA Insider Marc Stein.
Russell Westbrook has declined his player option for next season and is now an unrestricted free agent, per Marc Stein.
Which team should the former MVP go to? pic.twitter.com/2KaN5cYeHJ — Yahoo Sports (@YahooSports) June 13, 2025
That begs the question about what might be next for Russ in his NBA career. I'll say the thing so you don't have to: What should be next for Russ is probably retirement.
It's pretty clear Westbrook believes he has something left in the tank. I don't think that's farfetched, either. The dude was playing important minutes for a playoff team this season. Before it went bad in Denver, things were also pretty good. He was a solid contributor at times.
But, man. Things have ended in chaos at every stop for the last few years. The Lakers. The Clippers. The Nuggets. All bad. I feel like that's a sign.
There's nothing wrong with hanging it up. Westbrook is a first-ballot Hall of Famer — there's no question about it. He was the second player in NBA history to average a triple-double, he's been a league MVP, he's been to the NBA Finals and is unquestionably one of the most consequential players of his time. You can't talk about this era of NBA basketball without talking about Russell Westbrook.
But his prime is way behind him. And it feels like the further we get away from it, the more his legacy gets ever-so-slightly tarnished.
He probably won't do it, but hanging it up feels like the best option right now.
Mya Lesnar is definitely Brock Lesnar's kid
Mya Lesnar effortlessly secured herself a second NCAA championship on Thursday in the 2025 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Christian D'Andrea has the details:
"Mya Lesnar didn't follow in her father's footsteps despite a burgeoning women's wrestling scene at the college level. Instead, she used her family's farmhand strength to carve a championship path in track and field -- specifically, the shot put. After beginning her college career at Arizona State, she transferred to Colorado State in 2022. That move helped unlock her potential. She won a national indoor championship earlier this year, then doubled up in the 2025 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday."
It only took her a single throw to secure the title.

What Is Going on With ASAP Rocky's Album ‘Don't Be Dumb'?

ASAP Rocky has been teasing his forthcoming album Don't Be Dumb by name for over two and a half years, over the span of which he: performed potential tracks on it at Rolling Loud twice, starred in two high-profile feature films, began raising one infant with Rihanna, welcomed another, and now is waiting on the arrival of a third, oh, and beat a felony assault case levied by his former friend and collaborator that could have sent him to jail for 24 years. While there's understandably been some restlessness and perhaps even annoyance (as Rocky has noted himself) towards the delayed arrival of the album, when you put it in perspective, it'll be a miracle if Don't Be Dumb comes out at all. After announcing a few unmet release dates and divulging details about the album in interview after interview, Rocky's concerns about fan fatigue towards updates alone may have been warranted. His last album, Testing, dropped in 2018. 'I'm in the mixing and mastering realm of it, but I think quite frankly, people are tired of hearing about updates about the album,' he told GQ of Don't Be Dumb in February. On July 3, Rocky dropped 'Pray4DaGang' as an Apple Music exclusive for the first 24 hours, seemingly a new look into a new era. However, social media soon noticed that in its tenure on Apple music alone, the song didn't seem to crack the platform's daily top 200 songs chart (meanwhile, that weekend, Rocky's rival Drake released 'What Did I Miss?' and made a spectacle of it with his Iceman stream, drawing many eyes and landing the song high on the same chart). More from Rolling Stone 'Highest 2 Lowest' Isn't Spike Lee's Best or Worst - Just a Chance to Watch Denzel Go HAM Rihanna Reveals She's Pregnant With Third Child at Met Gala A$AP Rocky Trial: A$AP Relli Makes Surprise Admission in Gun Assault Trial Though both Rocky and Drake came up in the trenches of the Blog Era and defined many elements of rap culture, their lives and careers have taken very different paths, with one chasing superstardom through a constant churn of music, and the other living a fuller, broader life. Will Don't Be Dumb make that dissonance clearer? As we await the album, here's everything we know about Don't Be Dumb so far. April 2022 – ASAP Rocky is Arrested on Felony Gun Charges This happens roughly eight months before Rocky reveals Don't Be Dumb as the title of his next album, but the fallout of his arrest for allegedly shooting his former friend ASAP Relli covers its entire timeline. In April 2022, Rocky was taken into police custody at Los Angeles International Airport after flying in from a private plane from his partner, Rihanna's, native Barbados. May 2022 – Rocky Clarifies That the Album Won't Be Called Though Rocky had teased a project called All Smiles previously, he clarifies with Dazed that his forthcoming album won't be called that. 'One thing I can tell you is that the name isn't gonna be All Smiles – you know, I never publicly said that my album was called All Smiles,' he corrects for them. 'That one is more of a concept project, it's music and more. I'm wrapping up the new album now; I've been shooting so many visuals for it. I don't want to be cliche or sound like a salesman, but I've pushed myself to the limit on everything. Going from that industrial, subversive sound from Testing and then graduating with a more polished sound… I just like where it is.' December 2, 2022 – Metro Boomin Has Entered the Chat In another interview with GQ, Rocky teases that Metro Boomin made major contributions to his fourth album: 'I'm gonna put it to you like this: This next album needs to be just called Flacko Boomin, you hear me?' December 8, 2022 – The Album's Real Name is Revealed While performing on 2 Chainz's Amazon Music Live concert series, Rocky debuts the somber 'Same Problems?' while displaying the portraits of many late rappers like 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G., DMX, Nipsey Hussle, Mac Miller, and Pop Smoke. The title, Don't Be Dumb, is also on display and referenced throughout the show. July 20, 2023 – 'Riot (Rowdy Pipe'n)' is Called an Official Album Single In an interview with Complex, Rocky plants a stake in the ground: his latest song at this point, 'Riot (Rowdy Pipe'n),' is a Don't Be Dumb single. Though he condemns constant leaks as a source of his album delays, the song itself is a version of one that was leaked under the name 'Piper' years before, too. 'These dummies got to stop leaking shit,' Rocky says. 'Every time, we have to go back to the drawing board, but right now I think it's in a place where we tightened it up and we really can't make or break anything right now.' A few days later, he would perform another new song, now known as 'Tailor Swif,' at Rolling Loud Miami. While chopping it up with Complex, he shares that in addition to Metro Boomin, Hit-Boy, Tyler, the Creator, Madlib, The Alchemist, and Hitkidd did some production on the album. October 2023 – is Rocky's 'Best Work Yet' In a new Dazed interview, Rocky sets a high bar for his next album. 'I've been really experimenting as usual, and what I like about this is it feels like my best work yet,' he says. 'I want to leave expectations wide and open. I don't want to tell you what to expect. I just want people to experience it how they do naturally.' June 2024 – Gets Its First Release Date While presenting his clothing line American Sabotage in his Paris Fashion Week debut, he plays music from Don't Be Dumb and livestreams the show beyond the posh city streets. Mid-stream, he announces August 30 as its release date and opens up pre-orders. He tells GQ how the clothing line and the album were connected when asked where the name American Sabotage came from. 'I was working on my album and I was thinking about being rebellious and the stuff that we're not really allowed to talk about,' he says. 'It's not about treason or nothing like that, it's more about deciding to do things from a different perspective, taking the hard way instead of the easy way. And sometimes challenging yourself can come across as self-sabotaging. Exceeding time limits and deadlines, that's self-sabotaging. So it's also about talking about your flaws and the struggle that made you.' July 2024 – DJ Kast One Says the Album Will Make Rocky a Permanent Drake Enemy While on the Ebro in the Morning show on New York's Hot 97, DJ Kast One divulges his take on the Don't Be Dumb music he's heard, claiming that Rocky 'is going to be cemented on Drake's list after this.' A player in the Kendrick vs. Drake saga, Rocky has also seemingly tossed shots at the Canadian rapper on songs like Kid Cudi's 'Wow,' Future and Metro Boomin's 'Show of Hands' and his J. Cole collaboration 'Ruby Rosary.' As for Don't Be Dumb, DJ Kast One also says, 'I heard Slick Rick [on it]. That was amazing. I also heard ASAP Rocky definitely addressing a lot of the main topics that are happening out here right now. Let's just say, the list keeps going on strong.' August 2, 2024 – Okay, So Now 'Highjack' is the First Single? In the description of an Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe, the streamer calls his song 'Highjack' Don't Be Dumb's first single. 'Most of the songs that I usually perform and shit like that, muthafuckers leak it. And once it's leaked, it's just like, 'Nah, it's not on the project,'' Rocky tells Lowe. August 22, 2024 – Delayed to Fall 2024 Once again, blaming leaks in addition to sample clearances, Rocky takes to Twitter to explain the latest roadblock. 'LEAKS & SAMPLE CLEARANCES ARE DISRUPTING THE ALBUM,' he wrote. 'ITS BEEN 6 YEARS & I WANNA MAKE THE BEST ALBUM EVER. IM SORRY FOR THE WAIT.' In better news, in a Billboard cover story, Rocky notes that his hero, the filmmaker Tim Burton, heard the album and loved it: 'I sat and I played the album for Tim Burton, and he was f—ing with it heavy.' December 2024 – Fall Has Come and Gone; the Album is Delayed Again Fans who pre-ordered Don't Be Dumb box sets, vinyl, and CDs receive a refund email announcing an early 2025 release date. They also get an 'attached coupon for a gift upon release.' February 2025 – Found Not Guilty in ASAP Relli Assault Trial, Rocky Is Ready to Move On In More Ways Than One On February 18, Rocky was found not guilty of shooting at ASAP Relli after a three-week trial. Just ten days later, he tells GQ he's tired of yapping about his unreleased album. 'The album's done,' Rocky said. 'I just want to drop it. I don't want to keep saying what I'm going to do, and I want to give people what I've been promising them for a long-ass fucking time.' March 2025 – Rocky Performs at Rolling Loud California As one of the popular rap festival's headliners, Rocky began his set aboard a helicopter that had Don't Be Dumb painted across its side. May 2025 – May Show Rocky's Sensitive Side In an interview with Variety, Rocky teases the album's subject matter and a bit of insecurity: 'This fucking album, it represents who I am right now. It's just I hope that it's digestible,' he says. Elsewhere, he adds, 'It's odd because as I get older, I'm more conscious about how I view myself. Describing my life sounds very braggadocious, and I want to figure out how to say it to where it feels more humble, relatable, and sincere, as opposed to just shitting on the next person or making the next person feel down, or just evoking negative shit out of people.' In July, he tells Apple Music's Mehdi Maïzi, 'If I'm out here telling y'all how pretty I am again, it's not talking about I talked about how I fucked your bitch or how I can take your bitch again, it's not really talking about nothing.' July 3 – 'Pray4DaGang' Drops as An Apple Music Exclusive 'Pray4DaGang' gets a seemingly rocky rollout in the public eye, as fans notice the Fourth of July drop doesn't land on Apple's top songs, though it's released exclusively there, and that its music video was pulled from YouTube. Drake Taps Lauryn Hill, 21 Savage, Rema, More Surprise Guests for London's Wireless Festival

Drake headlined the three-day Wireless Festival at Finsbury Park in London over the weekend and it was a star-studded, surprise guest-filled affair. Lauryn Hill, 21 Savage, Rema, Vanessa Carlton, and more joined the rapper throughout the weekend. On Friday, Drake set the theme for the night. 'This is the first time in my life that I've done three different shows on three different days,' Drake told the crowd, per Billboard. 'You came to a very special night. It's night one. It's a celebration of all things R&B. All things melodies. All classics.' Beyond his own classics, surprise guest Lauryn Hill also dropped one of her own. Her performance of 'Ex-Factor' transitioned into Drake's Hill-sampling 'Nice for What.' The night also included appearances by Bryson Tiller, Givēon, and PartyNextDoor. More from Rolling Stone Lauryn Hill Addresses 'Nonsense' Idea That She's 'Too Important to Care' About Being Late to Shows Ovrkast on Working With Drake, Dealing With Success, and His Supernatural Inspiration Drake's 'Iceman' Era Could Be a Misstep if It's Too Focused on Beef On Saturday, Drake switched gears. 'London, tonight is different,' Drake told the crowd. 'All that sweetheart, singing shit? That shit is over tonight. This is for my motherfucking dogs. I see my dogs came out tonight.' Rappers Skepta, Latto, Sexyy Redd, and 21 Savage were among the guests. He and 21 Savage performed 'Knife Talk' and 'Rich Flex' from their collaborative 2022 album, Her Loss. The second night also had the crowd chanting 'Fuck Kendrick.' Drake's response was to ask someone to pour him a shot, before he said, 'I'll drink to that.' The two rappers' monumental beef has continued to spark conversations even a year later, and so it's not surprising that their respective concerts (along with Drake's defamation lawsuit over Kendrick Lamar's 'Not Like Us') touch on it, even if it's crowd-sourced. He capped off the rap-focused night with an unexpected surprise guest: He invited Vanessa Carlton out to perform her 2002 song, 'A Thousand Miles.' Sunday's set was a brief 40 minutes due to a strict curfew, per the BBC, but Drake still had some surprises in store. He teased an unreleased collaboration with British rapper Central Cee, and Rema drew cheers, as did Vybz Kartel. Earlier in the month, Drake dropped 'What Did I Miss?' ushering in his Iceman era. These Blog-Era Rap Stars Dropped Last Week. Only One Made the Hot 100

The weekend of July 4 was relatively stacked with hip-hop releases from stars who have been beloved in the genre for years, but data from Luminate and Billboard reveal that few of them made the kind of impact they'd once been capable of. Drake fired shots at fake friends on 'What Did I Miss?', ASAP Rocky dropped 'Pray4DaGang,' singer Brent Faiyaz played the roles of 'Peter Pan' and 'Tony Soprano' with a double single release, Logic produced his own single 'The Adventures of Cocaine Larry,' and Chance The Rapper enlisted Smino and Lil Wayne for 'Tree.' Yet, only one song cracked the Billboard Hot 100: Drake's 'What Did I Miss?', which landed at Number Two. It was the only one to chart on Luminate's list of the 100 most-streamed songs of the week, too, per a report shared with Rolling Stone (and it was Number One there). Even on hip-hop specific charts, things didn't look much better for the rest of the gang. Only Brent Faiyaz's tracks managed to grab spots on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart ('Peter Pan' at 47 and 'Tony Soprano' at 28) in addition to Drake, and the Canadian rapper was the only one to make the Hot Rap Songs chart, too. More from Rolling Stone Travis Scott Hangs Out With His Amazing Friends on 'Jackboys 2' What Is Going on With ASAP Rocky's Album 'Don't Be Dumb'? Drake Taps Lauryn Hill, 21 Savage, Rema, More Surprise Guests for London's Wireless Festival Notably, all of these artists are millennials who were stalwarts in what's known as the Blog Era, the period between (very) roughly 2005 and 2015, kickstarted by the emergence of tastemaking rap blogs like NahRight, 2DopeBoyz, and Miss Info in the time of lawless filesharing and capped by the rise of streaming platforms like Spotify that radicalized the way music was made and monetized. Many of the biggest names in rap — and entertainment at large — today earned their stripes during the Blog Era. That includes many of these artists who dropped last week, as well as notable figures like Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, and Kanye West. So, why does it matter that no one but Drake seemed to permeate the mainstream last week? Because, in this new era, stans have decided it does. Across pop music, warring fan bases lob streaming and sales statistics at each other online to prove the relevance of their fave – or the irrelevance of their rivals. Several hip-hop focused X pages noted that despite ASAP Rocky dropping 'Pray4DaGang' as an Apple Music exclusive for the first 24 hours of its release starting July 4, it didn't seem to crack Apple's Top 200 songs chart, including one belonging to controversial streamer and Drake ally Akademiks, which taunted the Harlem rapper. While it's less surprising that long-cooled acts like Chance the Rapper, Logic, and even the legendary Lil Wayne (whose latest album, Tha Carter VI was met harshly by many critics) didn't quite breakthrough, ASAP Rocky's quiet return is more jarring. Yet, it's just another signal of the changing of the guard as more niche music communities thrive, TikTok virality constantly thrusts new acts to the forefront, and monoculture erodes. Think about it: Kanye West is all but a pariah, Nicki Minaj garners more headlines for her social media tirades than her raps, and even as Drake sits atop the charts and headlines festivals, his reputation has been deeper in the pits than ever before. In 2018, The New York Times' Nitsuh Abebe asserted that these greats were falling. 'When it comes to pop, 'people born around 1990' are already done for,' he wrote. 'It is a testament to their influence that popular music has already spent a decade doggedly attached to the same stars who took over the charts during this group's teen years […] It has been an impressive run. Now it feels as if that run is ending.'
