Mleiha Club enriches "Sharjah Sports Summer" with special events
A Diverse Range of Activities
The second week of the programme will feature a diverse range of educational, recreational, sports, cultural, and heritage activities that reinforce national identity and enrich participants' knowledge and behaviour.
The week will kick off with activities that promote Emirati values, including specialized Quranic activities such as Quran recitation and Tajweed, in cooperation with the Sharjah Quran and Sunnah Foundation, and ablution and prayer workshops under the supervision of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments.
"Treasures of the Sands of Mleiha"
With a distinctive environmental and educational dimension, the Mleiha Archaeological Centre is hosting the "Treasures of the Sands of Mleiha " workshop, which allows participants to explore the natural and geological history of the region through field visits and live models. This workshop, in collaboration with BEEAH, also focused on making agricultural pots using recycled plastic. This workshop contributed to instilling concepts of sustainability and environmental responsibility among participants.
Sports Activities
The sports aspect will feature mini-competitions in swimming, football, basketball, and volleyball. The categories will be divided according to age to ensure fairness and maximum interaction, under the supervision of specialised trainers in a stimulating and safe environment.
"I Know My Sharjah"
Arts will also be part of the programme, with participants showcasing their creativity in Arabic calligraphy, drawing, and "Colours of Sharjah" workshops. They will also participate in the "I Know My Sharjah" cultural competition, organised by the club's Cultural Committee to foster a spirit of intellectual competition and develop thinking and analytical skills.
Among the distinguished activities, an astronomy workshop will be held at the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, and a workshop on home security and safety will be presented by the Civil Defense and Community Police, providing participants with important life skills through simplified interactive methods.
Connecting Children to Emirati Identity
Abdulrahman Muhair Al Ketbi, member of the Mleiha Club's Board of Directors and Vice Chairman of the Summer Activities Organising Committee, expressed his pride in the comprehensive educational content offered by the club, saying that Maliha Club does not only offer seasonal activities, but rather, it builds a system of values, belonging, and knowledge through integrated activities that address the mind and conscience, connecting children to their Emirati identity, heritage, present, and future.
Building Awareness, Shaping Character, & Simulating Creativity
Al Ketbi added that 'Here is Sharjah' week reflects the cultural and educational vision that characterises the Sharjah Sports Summer. The holiday transforms into a platform for building awareness, shaping character, and stimulating creativity, all in an atmosphere filled with vitality and excitement, living up to the aspirations of parents and the community.
Al Ketbi explained that the organising committee for the Maliha Club's summer events will continue its summer programmes until the end of July, amid praise from participants and parents, who expressed their appreciation for the rich content and exemplary organisation. They emphasised that the programme contributed to changing their children's perception of the holiday, turning it into an opportunity for growth, discovery, and connection to national values.
Al Ketbi added that through this week, the club seeks to integrate national content with daily activities in a smooth and engaging manner, keeping values embedded in the minds of participants, not as a mere indoctrination, but rather as a life they live and a community to which they belong.
Al Ketbi explained that the "Here is Sharjah" events will continue until the end of this week, amid expectations that they will succeed in achieving their educational and societal goals and consolidating the Maliha Club's position as a true incubator for creativity.
