Kneecap fans at Glasgow O2 Academy gig slam TRNSMT axe
The trio—Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap (Naoise Ó Cairealláin), and DJ Próvaí—were originally scheduled to headline the King Tut's stage at TRNSMT 2025, but were dropped from the line-up in May after Police Scotland raised safety concerns.
In response, the group announced a headline show tonight, July 8, which was sold out within just 80 seconds.
We spoke to fans in the queue outside the Southside venue to ask them if they thought the controversial rappers should have been allowed to play at the festival.

Laura Pentleton, 18, from Ardrossan (Image: Newsquest) Laura Pentleton, 18, from Ardrossan, was "buzzing" for the show, she said: "I think they should have been allowed to play."
"I think if there are bands going about on the same weekend talking about what they believe in, I think Kneecap should be able to do the same."
Dee Maxwell, 35, and Kiara McGuiness also thought the band should've played on the stage at Glasgow Green this weekend.
They said: "Yeah, definitely 100%."
"It's freedom of speech at the end of the day, and telling somebody not to play.
"It's just taking the freedom of speech away."

It'll be the third time seeing the band for Taylor Davidson from Greenock, who anticipates this show being "special."
The 24-year-old was also in support of the band, she said: "Absolutely. They should have been allowed to play.
"I think what we're seeing now is an attempt of censorship of free speech and we're very see we're very quickly seeing ourselves becoming a police state of what you're allowed to say when you're allowed to say it.
"So absolutely they should have been allowed to play."

The band was seen arriving at the venue amidst a crowd of pro-Palestine demonstrators, including members of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign, waving flags outside the Gorbals-based venue.
As they entered, Naoise Ó Cairealláin, also known as Móglaí Bap, was photographed wearing a retro version of Celtic FC's 1996 bumblebee shirt.
Mo Chara, who is currently facing terror offence charges, was seen waving to the crowd dressed entirely in black.
Ó Cairealláin was seen carrying a leaflet calling for the charges against Mo Chara to be dropped and controversially calling for Prime Minister Keir Starmer to be arrested.

The Glasgow Times reported yesterday that Police Scotland confirmed that it will implement a 'proportionate and considered policing plan' to ensure public safety.
A visible police presence surrounded the O2 Academy throughout the evening, with officers on patrol in the surrounding area.
Superintendent Paul Douglas said: 'We are aware of a number of events and concerts due to take place in the Greater Glasgow area in the week beginning Monday, 7 July, 2025.
'A proportionate and considered policing plan is in place within the city and we are working with a number of stakeholders to ensure the safety of all those attending these events and, where possible, minimise disruption to the people of Glasgow.'

What forms of ID can you bring to TRNSMT 2025 amid security crackdown?
It's vital to have the correct form of identification to ensure your entry into the festival this weekend. TRNSMT is just one day away, with the long-anticipated Scottish festival kicking off tomorrow, Friday July 11. With headliners including 50 Cent, Biffy Clyro and Snow Patrol, plus performances from Gracie Abrams, The Script and Fontaines D.C., this weekend is not one to miss. So it's vital to have a valid ID to avoid being knocked back at the gates. The TRNSMT security team are renowned for being strict with revellers upon entry to the festival, and Police Scotland have announced that they are cracking down on illegal entries into this year's event. Those with tickets can also expect to be searched at the gates for any contraband items. With an age limit of 16-years-old, everyone who looks under the age of 25 will be required to present a valid form of identification when first entering the festival, in alignment with the national Challenge 25 policy. Amid the security crackdown, TRNSMT's manager Colin Rodger told the Glasgow Times that those who are too young 'shouldn't chance it' by using fake IDs. But which forms of ID are considered valid to enter the festival? Here's everything you need to know about entering the event without butting heads with security or police. What forms of ID are acceptable for entry into TRNSMT? The TRNSMT website states that the following types of valid, in-date, original photographic ID are acceptable at the festival: UK or International Full or Provisional Driving Licence UK or International Passport (no photocopies or expired passports) National Proof of Age Standards Scheme card with the PASS hologram (e.g. Young Scot, CitizenCard, My ID Card) If using a form of ID with a PASS hologram, the festival states that the hologram must not be faded, damaged or tampered with. Those with old or scratched ID cards where the hologram, picture or date is damaged should apply for a replacement card via the issuing authority as it will not be accepted. Photos of ID cards or photocopies will also be deemed invalid and will prevent you from crossing the threshold into the festival grounds. These rules are in line with the national Challenge 25 policy. TRNSMT manager Colin Roger said: "Young people under the age of 16 should not chance coming into the event. We have a set age limit and having a fake ID is illegal in Scotland and you can get handed over to the police. That is the process that we have got set up. "Young people should follow the rules and not chance it. Those over 16 should also make sure their behaviour, once they are inside, is acceptable. "We've listened to our audience from last year and now, we have put these rules in place." So, if there's one thing you shouldn't forget to pack when heading to Glasgow Green this weekend, it's your ID. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Bob Vylan frontman warns ‘you'll get me in trouble' after crowd's IDF chants
The frontman of Bob Vylan warned his fans to stop chanting against the Israeli military during the duo's first UK gig since the band's Glastonbury festival performance. Pascal Robinson-Foster, who goes by the name Bobby Vylan, told fans at a sold-out surprise gig in London on Wednesday night they could get him in 'trouble' after police launched an investigation into the group over comments he made at Glastonbury. The 34-year-old led chants of 'death, death to the IDF', referring to the Israel Defense Forces, and spoke of working for a 'fucking Zionist' during their show on the West Holts stage at the Somerset festival on 28 June. Bob Vylan issued a statement last week claiming they were being 'targeted for speaking up'. It came before the Belfast trio Kneecap's appearance on the same stage. Both bands are being investigated by Avon and Somerset police over remarks made during their concerts. At Bob Vylan's intimate concert at the 100 Club on Wednesday night, some fans started to repeat the Glastonbury chant of 'death, death to the IDF'. Robinson-Foster responded by saying 'you are going to get me in trouble, apparently every other chant is fine but yous [sic] will get me in trouble' before leading the crowd in chants of 'Free, free Palestine'. The duo ended the gig by holding up the Palestinian flag as Robinson-Foster said: 'We are a loving band, we love you lot for being here with us. We love the Palestinian people.' After their Glastonbury set, it emerged that the group were already being investigated by the Met police regarding alleged comments made at a gig in London in May, with a video showing Robinson-Foster appearing to say: 'Death to every single IDF soldier out there as an agent of terror for Israel. Death to the IDF.' Since then they have reportedly been dropped by their agency, United Talent Agency (UTA), which appears to have removed the group from their website, and have also been pulled from a number of concerts – including their US tour after having their visas revoked. Despite the criticism the group have re-entered the charts, with their album, Humble as the Sun, climbing to No 1 in the UK hip-hop and R&B album charts. The group are expected to perform at the Boardmasters surfing and music festival in Newquay, Cornwall, in August.
