‘Fadnavis did what Balasaheb could not': Raj Thackeray's ironic jab at Maharashtra CM during joint rally with Uddhav
They hosted the rally named 'Awaj Marathicha' to celebrate the Maharashtra government's reversal of a contentious plan to have Hindi as a third language from Class 1 in state schools.
'I am sharing stage with Uddhav Thackeray after almost 20 years. Chief Minister Fadnavis managed to do what Balasaheb Thackeray could not - bring myself and Uddhav together. The Maharashtra Government rolled back the decision on the three-language formula due to the strong unity shown by Marathi people. This decision was a precursor to the plan of separating Mumbai from Maharashtra," he said.
Raj hit out at the Centre, asking whether Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) renowned leader LK Advani's schooling at a missionary institution sparked questions among some about the authenticity of his adherence to Hindutva ideology.
He further questioned, "LK Advani studied at St. Patricks High School, a missionary school. Should we doubt his Hindutva?", according to NDTV.
He specified even Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray received education at an English school and was associated with an English newspaper but 'never compromised on the status of Marathi'. 'Balasaheb Thackeray studied in English school, worked in English newspaper but never compromised on status of Marathi,' the MNS chief said.
Earlier today, according to police, some unknown persons chanted slogans backing Raj and damaged the office of investor Sushil Kedia situated at Century Bazar in Worli area of Mumbai. Kedia had dared Raj Thackeray and stated that he would not study Marathi. He went to the police after he was targeted over his post on X.
A police official said some men hurled stones at Kedia's office when they reached there and were raising slogans in endorsement of Marathi and lauding Raj Thackeray. The police had given enough security to his office.
"I don't know Marathi properly even after living for 30 years in Mumbai & with your gross misconduct I have made it a resolve that until such people as you are allowed to pretend to be taking care of Marathi Manus I take pratigya I won't learn Marathi. Kya karna hai bol?" Kedia had said on X.

The term refers to someone found guilty of religious wrongdoing. The decision was announced by Jathedar and head granthi Giani Baldev Singh in Patna on Saturday. "Sukhbir Singh Badal is declared 'tankhaiya' for being found guilty of ignoring the orders of the 'Panj Pyare Singh Sahibs' of Takht Sri Patna Sahib," the directive said. According to Takht Patna Sahib's directive, Badal was a conspirator in the recent conflict involving different Sikh religious authorities. He was summoned three times but did not appear. The directive stated that his absence clearly pointed to his involvement in the controversy. The dispute began on May 21, when the Akal Takht barred Takht Patna Sahib Jathedar Giani Baldev Singh and another granthi from performing their religious duties. Takht Patna Sahib responded by declaring the Akal Takht Jathedar and Takht Damdama Sahib Jathedar 'tankhaiya', and also summoned Badal for his alleged role in the matter. He said it was beyond the jurisdiction of Takht Patna Sahib and could create confusion within the Sikh community. Dhami stressed that while Takht Patna Sahib is highly respected, only the Akal Takht has the authority to decide on issues concerning the wider Sikh community. He warned that undermining the Akal Takht could cause serious damage to Sikh traditions and unity. He called for resolution through mutual dialogue and said the Sikh community's energy should be directed towards collective growth and the promotion of Sikh values, not internal disputes. Badal was earlier declared 'tankhaiya' by the Akal Takht in Amritsar in August last year, and later in December was given religious punishment for mistakes linked to the Akali Dal government's rule in Punjab from 2007 to 2017.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said he and Raj have come together to stay united and to capture power in the Mumbai civic body and Maharashtra.

The investigation agencies say Nirav Modi had, through his companies, embezzled ₹6,498 crore from PNB, while the remaining amount was misappropriated by his uncle Mehul Choksi in a similar modus operandi. 'Forced directors to lie, relocate' Nehal laundered the proceeds of the crime on behalf of Nirav through a web of shell companies and offshore transactions, as per the ED. He transported 50 kg of gold and 'substantial' cash from Dubai, the chargesheet says. In a supplementary chargesheet submitted by the CBI, he is 'accused number 27' for destroying evidence in Dubai. The CBI says Nehal Modi intimidated directors of Dubai-based shell companies used by Nirav Modi to 'give a veneer of legitimacy' to a fraudulent trade, PTI has reported. These 'intimidated' people, employees of Nirav Modi's companies, were 'coerced' into relocating from Dubai to Cairo, during which their phones, laptops and computer servers were destroyed to erase evidence.
